World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself. (Personal, non pageant)
I’m a woman that’s in love with her family, that loves God above all things, sensible and thankful for everything I have lived. I’m a very funny woman, with strong character. I’m not afraid to say what’s on my mind.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
For me, female empowerment is about women who takes their place, gives themselves to respect and recognizes their worth. Is also about women helping to empower other women, so that they too know they should never feel less than they are.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
Each one has been an enriching experience in my life and I have learned positive things from each one of them.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
I used to be a very insecure woman, I thought that participating in a contest could help me get rid of my fears and believe more in myself as a woman. Once there, I realized that physical beauty was superficial and what’s more important is what we can’t see with our eyes.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
It was Mrs. Universe Costa Rica first year. The director, María Teresa Rodríguez, called me and invited me to be the first queen. I had my doubts about it at first, but my husband and my daughters motivated me to do it. So as a family we decided to give me an opportunity to live this experience. I’m very thankful with María Teresa for thinking of me to be the first candidate to held the crown.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
Many think that is a superficial system but for us who has participated we can assure you that is not like that. The women that participates in a pageant are like any other. They study, have jobs, are mothers and have a daily life. We fight to show how much we are capable of and to demonstrate that you need more than just knowing how to walk on a runway.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
In a competition there is everything. They can judge how you perform on a runway, the intelligence to answer a question and your empowerment. They also pay close attention to how secure you are wit yourself and the ease with which things are done.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
It was one of the most amazing experiences. It helped me grow as a woman and teach me how far we can go if we set our mind to it.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
The Mrs. Universe Costa Rica contest itself is to empower women. many women don't know how capable they are or how far they can go. In Costa Rica there is a lot of violence and discrimination against women, I want to help women see that they can raise their voices and fight for their courage, that they do not need a man to have a full life, which is something that I talk a lot about on my social networks too.
World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
National and international television, newspaper, magazines and social media.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
In pageants would be Miss Fitness 2006, Reina Internacional de los Mares 2009, Miss Bikini 2009, Mrs. Universe Costa Rica 2015 and top 3 Mrs. Universe 2015 in Belarus.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
I think my personality. I am a simple and transparent woman who gives 100% being myself.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
As I said before, I was called to be Mrs. Universe Costa Rica from the director so yes, I felt surprised and happy but there wasn’t really a competition so there was no big pressure. In Belarus, on the other hand, was very different. When my name was called from the Top 3 I felt excitement, joy, surprise and much satisfaction. There were many mixed feelings, most of them for leaving my country in a good place.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
Being a Beauty Queen is more than having a pretty face and a nice body. It contains many things, such as the ability to endure criticism and be tolerant and empathetic to negative comments from people. break the prejudices that bind being a Beauty Queen.

Maybe not having enjoyed it because of my immaturity. I started participating in contests very young, but over time I gained confidence in myself

They try to pretend to be what they are not, that is the biggest mistake. Many are aware of what the other contestants do and are filled with negativity.
