World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.

A full time working adult who enjoys teaching as well. I have been tutoring part time for the past 12 years. Modelling, doing photoshoots and runways is my passion. I love taking up every opportunity or challenge that knocks my door. I am also an animal lover who does animal rescues and provide food and shelter for the needy whenever possible. I am a daughter to my single mom, whom is the reason I have come this far.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?

Women empowerment to me means equality, to be able to make our own decisions without being judged by the society or anyone else. To display confidence in our voices and the strong drive to put them into actions. Empowered women rise by lifting others and not by stepping over them.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

My very first pageant was the recent Ms & Mrs Singapolitan Worldwide where I was crowned Ms Singapolitan Nations 2019/20.

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

Since teenage years, I always enjoy watching pageants on television, looking at their walks, the way they carry themselves and how confident they speak in front of a huge audience. I never had the courage and confidence to participate in one despite many opportunities. This time I told myself, I am 30 and I am not getting any younger. It’s about time to try something new and put myself out there. I have stage fright and this was a challenge to myself in pushing my limits and overcoming my fear.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

It was to challenge myself, to push my capabilities and see what I can do to raise awareness for breast cancer. It was for a good cause that motivated me to participate in this pageant.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?

The pageant aims to bring out the strengths in potential women and nurture aspiring women.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?

The breast cancer initiative, poise, confidence and how well I speak in the question and answer round.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.

The whole journey was definitely a memorable one and something that as molded me. As much as I was nervous, I was super excited to participate in something that was for a good cause and I was involved in photoshoots as part of showcasing the message for Pink Ribbon Initiative. I had a talent round which I did a dance and that probably was me dancing after my school years. Every task I did got me involved in something new, some were out of my comfort zone too but that was the whole point of me being here. To break my barriers. It made me understand the pageant world. I learned a lot more about breast cancer as well and importantly I made new friends and meeting women from different backgrounds was truly inspiring.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

Pink Ribbon Initiative. I did three videos which were shared on all social media platforms. First one was an interview involving a breast cancer survivor, whose motive was to use this platform and create awareness along with me. She shared her cancer journey to remind women to go for regular checks in order to save lives. The second video was more of a emotional and physical support solution for people with hair loss due to chemo or any other reasons. Pairing up with Freedom Hair Asia and offering a variety of affordable solutions for wigs and hairpieces according to individual’s condition. Every woman has the right to feel beautiful inside out not letting the illness define us. Beautiful ladies deserve a photoshoot of course! Thus, I had a photoshoot session with the breast cancer survivor and the founder of Freedom Hair Asia. The last video I did was a workout session at my regular studio where the very supportive coaches and participants came in pink workout attire and we did a 1 hour workout dedicated to The Pink Ribbon Initiative.

World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?

My breast cancer interview video was published in the local Tamil online news, Tamil Murasu. In addition to that, an article about me as a pageant Queen and a Model has been published in an online news portal, Aadarsha Chirag.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?

Participating in this pageant and genuinely putting in effort in my Pink Ribbon Initiatives is an achievement for me. I am confident my videos have reached out to a fair number of people, they know what I do, and that’s the whole purpose of this pageant, to create awareness.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?

To be able to carry myself with confidence and poise. Importantly, to be myself and create a stage presence.

World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?

Being a freelance model and participating in my very first pageant, has given me a clear picture on what my strengths and weaknesses are. I feel these experiences have turned me into a much beautiful and confident woman who knows her path now and will slowly turn my weakness into strengths.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.

I am truly blessed, excited and very proud of myself on being crowned Ms Singapolitan Nations. I am proud for taking this opportunity and putting myself out there despite the fact that I have stage fright. I gave my 100% in what I did.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

A true beauty Queen is beautiful inside and out. She is not a Queen for herself but is a good role model and should be a Queen others look up to. One who doesn’t give up, spreads positivity and does not put others down to gain her position.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

It definitely got me out of my comfort zone. Personally I have grown more confident and I am willing try new challenges. I have become more optimistic as well which is great! World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image?

My self esteem needed a boost and participating in such pageants certainly helped a lot. Generally I am health conscious, I work out and eat healthy whenever I can. I have been extra cautious with food now after participating in pageants. Its all about keeping healthy and fit.

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?

It’s an honor that I got this opportunity to inspire, influence and impact many people’s lives. I will definitely continue to be a role model for all the girls.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

Learning directly from an expert in the field would be best but everything is online these days. There are many videos in teaching you the right walk for Runways and Pageants. That will be my go to option.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?

It should be something that should enhance your figure, choose something according to your body type and you are comfortable doing your cat walk in.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?

Always take a moment to understand the question so you do not reply out of point and then roughly phrase the answer in your mind before saying it out. Be honest with your answers and opinions so you can reply with confidence.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?

I had to mentally prepare myself to be confident on stage. I watched many pageant videos and interviews on maintaining stage presence and poise throughout the whole competition. I practiced my speech to prepare for Q&A as well.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?

I wish I was more calm, focused and relaxed during the competition. I was definitely nervous which resulted in me not showing my full potential.

World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?

I don’t think this is a mistake as it’s very natural that it happens, but something that can be improved. I feel the nervousness on the day of competition has got some of the girls stressed out and they forget to help their fellow competitors out when they are done, be it a change of outfit, coordinating the next round or communicating information required.

World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?

Yes, I am a freelance model who has done a variety of photoshoots and some runways as well.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2019 as a Queen?

I would like to continue doing what I love. Rescuing animals, providing food and shelter for them, assisting children in need or anyone for that matter. These things take a lot of effort and financial planning too. I hope to get more support and change lives of people and animals for the better. Everyone deserves to live a decent life.

World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want to be known as a woman who had genuine love for animals and people around her. I always say this, “be kind to one another”. That’s exactly what I want to be known for.
