World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.
Well I am a mother to 2 beautiful daughters, and a graduate in Fashion Technology from India. Currently living in Calgary with my family and employed with a bank as an Everyday Banking Specialist. I am very passionate about helping people.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
To me, Empowerment means focusing on the strong bond between us women rather than
seeing each other as competition. When we stop being jealous we quickly realize, how
empowered other women can make you feel. Actively encouraging and helping one another
is creating this strong connection that will also inspire and strengthen you as an individual.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
I honestly don't have a pageant history as such, as this is my first title ever. But all I know is
that I’ve created a history for the women of my community and my daughters to follow the
legacy.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
Frankly, It’s ironic, how COVID has been a curse to many and a blessing to many others like me. Sitting ideal during these hard times at home, and giving time to myself made me realize
how much more I am than just a mother and wife.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
I chose to compete so that I can tell other women of my age feel confident enough about
themselves, about their bodies or the women sailing in the same boat as me see me as an
inspiration and can get out of their comfort zones and see for themselves what they are
worthy of.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us
what is it about?
The Mrs./Ms. Calgary Pageant provides women throughout Alberta the opportunity to learn
basic life values such as self-confidence, sportsmanship, determination, poise, and leadership
while competing in a positive atmosphere for both local & provincial titles.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
We are judged on poise, speaking ability, quality of answers, overall presence, personality,
suitability of being a community representative and knowledge of the community.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
Honestly I was very very nervous whenever I used to wait for my turn to come and would
wait in the room with other pageant sisters, but as soon as I used to hit that ramp, I used to be
ME. A girl who is not only ready to face her fears but is ready to overcome them. It was a
great experience overall, I think every woman deserves a chance to face this once in a
lifetime experience.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
I strongly stand against child abuse and domestic violence.
World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
This is a tricky one, Unfortunately with the pandemic going on in the world right now, there
was not much this year, I really wish getting a chance to do some public appearances before
the end of my reign.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
My biggest achievement is the Motherhood. Everything else comes after that
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
I am a very friendly and supportive person. And my expressive eyes are my biggest strength.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the
winner.
Oh.! That moment, I can never forget that moment. One of the best moments of my life.! As
soon as my name was called, the first thing that came to my mind was, “MY DAD WILL BE
SO PROUD”. It gave me goosebumps, seeing my biggest dream come true.! I was crowned
as Mrs. Southern Alberta 2020.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
Being a beauty queen to me means to be beautiful from the inside. To have a heart that heals
everyone and anyone with its warmth and kindness.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
Competing in this pageant gave me a direction, which I lost track of, after my marriage and
having kids, it showed me who I really was and where I belong. It gave me confidence and
platform to touch and change lives in a way I could have never imagined.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self esteem and body image?
All I want to say is that every woman out there should at least once in their lifetime compete
in pageant, so that they can love the body and skin they are in. Because it’s not only about
being beautiful from the outside, It means to be beautiful from the inside & I believe
everyone is strong and beautiful in their own unique way.
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it
feel?
This feeling is out of the world, I love when I tell other girls that I am Beauty queen and they
look at me with wide open eyes. I can see those big hearts in their eyes. I can tell that I am
living their dream. I can tell that I’ve created a hope for them, that if I can then they can do it
too.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
BE YOURSELF, SMILE AND WALK WITH GRACE
World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
I honestly watched youtube videos on how to improve my walk, and what should be my body
language during the interview. I did role plays with myself in front of the mirror and it helped
me a lot.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
SEEK HELP, DON’T HESITATE. IF YOU KNOW WHO CAN HELP YOU, JUST GO
ASK THEM. Or in my case with this pandemic, make youtube your best friend. Also walk in
front of a large mirror and look at yourself walking, you will be able to improve your walk
much more easily.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing the right pageant dress?
I honestly feel one should always wear a dress in which you are comfortable, because dress is
the most important part of your competition. And nobody wants to wear something which is
not comfortable to them in any way, because you do want to distract yourself from the main
focus (PAGEANT). Always remember girls, it’s you who makes a dress look beautiful, a
dress doesn’t make you look beautiful, you can carry anything and make it look beautiful
with your grace, smile and confidence and The world will follow.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
PRACTICE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN & Think before you speak.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you
wish you could redo and fix it?
I wish to focus more on my vocabulary and choice of words if I get a chance to redo and fix
it.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
Girls often put more emphasis on looking their best, which is equally important. But they
forget to focus on brushing up their talents and knowing themselves better so that they are
even more confident in the interview and on stage.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?
Yes, being a graduate in Fashion Technology, I’ve done many ramp walks and have also
modelled for my university and local magazine (THE LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE) in
Chandigarh, (India).
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen?
To help my community in whatever way I can and to enjoy my reign.
World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
A legacy of character and faith.
