World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.

My passion is for art. I love to learn about anything, research is something I am always doing. In high school I would write papers for assignments I would make up for myself. In elementary

school I would make up math equations to solve, the harder the better. I love to challenge myself and I love to experience life. I consider myself a dork and I love to read. Before having kids I could spend a weekend reading an entire 500 page novel. Now I love to spend time with my family. I talk to my mom and dad everyday and I try to visit them as often as possible. I always try to give others the benefit of the doubt and put myself in their shoes. I feel empathy is a key to creating a better world.

World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about your education.

Leaning is something I hold with high regard. I studied Fashion Marketing at The Art Institute of Philadelphia for a year then changed my major to Photography which is my artistic passion. Set to graduate in less than a year with my Bachelors of Science I decided to graduate early with my Associates and switch my career field to something that involved helping the community. I decided to obtain my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. My goal is to take the LSAT and return to school to obtain my Juris Doctor. Eventually I hope to achieve my Doctor of Juridical Science.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?

Being able to speak and live your truth. Many people focus on what empowerment means to one aspect of society, yet when everyone comes together to empower each other as a whole this enforces growth and influences everyone to achieve. As a mixed woman I believe empowerment starts within and expands with influences. We have to work together so everyone is empowered to live and be their best selves. My daughter Destiny-Rose has always been my muse, my inspiration and my blessing. I try everyday to show her she is capable of achieving any goal she sets her mind to. Also, to help her understand how to value herself instead of seeking validation from others.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

This was my first year running for a title of my own. I entered my daughter into child pageants when she was a baby but as she grew up she expressed other interests. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

I was inspired by my family and friends. Personally, I never thought of myself as pageant worthy and I had to learn to value and accept myself. I always watched the Miss. America pageants as a child and I always dreamed of being on a stage yet I never valued myself enough to allow my own dreams to come true. My family and friends helped me gain the confidence to be myself and try something I’ve always dreamt of.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

Born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, I am very proud of where I am from. I decided to compete for this title because it makes me feel as though I can represent my home in my everyday life. Being crowned Mrs. Philadelphia is such an accomplishment for me I feel like I can retire happily without any regrets.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us

what is it about?

The Mrs. Pennsylvania America pageants utilizes a number of categories and grading techniques to select a woman to represent their state in the national Mrs. America pageant. Their goal is to choose a woman that has solid foundations and priorities which will contribute to the community and society as a whole. The pageant itself will have various categories based on the level of composition; local, state or national.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?

The Mrs. Pennsylvania America pageant will have 3 judging categories: Personal Interview,

Swimsuit and Evening Gown. In addition to this contestants will be awarded various awards that are scored by their interaction with other contestants, Career Achievement, Community Service, Social Influence, Appearance and Personality. There are many awards to be won and all of the accomplishments and goals can be honored along with the amazing women that achieved them.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.

In the beginning I was scared of my ability to hold the title. I was unsure of my ability to gain this achievement. During this competition I learned to appreciate myself and acknowledge my own achievements. Looking at the fundraisers, volunteering and support I try to put back into the community I realized I am already an amazing person and I deserve to acknowledge myself.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer

for.

Providing for oneself can be impossible without the proper resources. My goal is to establish a non-profit for families to become self-sufficient within their community. Starting small I encourage children to utilize their skills and interest into creating a stable future for themselves. Developing fundraisers and community events I am able to create a means for children to get the daily necessities to live and get an education. It perpetuates a system for future generations to circulate prosperity within their community, essentially establishing positive and significant

resources.

World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?

Local appearance to a few small businesses and a few interviews. This is my first year competing so I am still fresh to the industry.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?

I established my own business Sarah Arriaga Photography when I was 22 years old. Additionally meeting my husband that same year and getting married a few years later. My children are my biggest achievement, making sure they are able to be their best selves. Becoming a caseworker may seem like mediocre work, but I feel this is an achievement in itself. My goal everyday at work is to encourage and inform clients on becoming self-sufficient. Without resources from the community these goals may not be attainable. I feel the dedication to my job helps others achieve their goals in life and this feels like an accomplishment in itself.

World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?

I feel my personality and features make me stand out. I am racially ambiguous and many people ask me what I am mixed with. Throughout my life I have been told my appearance is unique. I feel regardless of my appearance I want my inner light to show and reflect the goodness I feel within.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the

winner.

The moment I was awarded the title of Mrs. Philadelphia Pennsylvania America 2022 I was speechless. I was so excited and I was unable to comprehend the depth of this pageant. The excitement is still there, it never really goes away it just settles down a little. World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

When you think of a beauty queen the first thought is of course beauty. But, to be a real queen means to stand for something powerful. Taking on the title and representing your community, potentially your state and country. Having the ability to speak out against injustice and making an effort to create and maintain positive forces for being an influence.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

My confidence and self-esteem have increased. I feel inspired to follow my dreams of modeling/acting. I feel capable of competing for roles I previously felt inferior to audition for. I am able to be an inspiration to myself and everyday I see the possibilities of a new day.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self esteem and body image?

As a mother of 4 children I was always self-conscious about my looks and felt I was losing my

prime. Preparing for the pageants help me accept myself and give myself credit for all the hard

work I put into maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Adjusting to more healthy eating while preparing for the contest helped me create and maintain goals after the competition was over.

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it

feel?

I don't feel any different than living my usual life everyday. I always try to be a positive role

model for my daughter and younger family members. Winning the title makes me feel validated in knowing the things I am doing actually mean something. I feel my accomplishments are making positive impacts and achieving goals I never thought were possible.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?

To let my personality and light shine. Knowing my purpose and helping the judges to understand the value I will bring to the job title of Mrs. Pennsylvania America.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?

Practicing stress relieving exercises and having an outlet to vent when feeling overwhelmed. Knowing your support system and utilizing their help. Making plans and being organized. Also knowing your limits, you cannot put 100% of yourself into 100 different things.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

Practice whenever possible and talk to experts. Either take classes or get a pageant coach who has knowledgeable expertise. Practice in high heels and on different floors so you can be

prepared to handle long wear if necessary. Also, take your time and be confident.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?

Pick something that you're comfortable in. Do not go broke looking for outfits. Most times the most flattering dress is the simplest and may be something you already have. Look around for extra outfits for photoshoots. Check out second hand shops and various stores for inexpensive outfits for appearances and to have a variety to choose from.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?

Be honest and simple. Know what you are talking about and if it is a subject you may not be familiar with, relate it to something you can explain so the judges will understand and get your point.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?

Talking too much, I tend to go on and on. Also, keeping a photogenic face and body during all times. Most times there will be photographers throughout the whole event, being photo ready is a plus. Sometimes it is hard to always be camera ready but just practicing smiling when you are just waiting can make all the difference.

World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?

Be social and happy. Many women complain about things and it always brings the vibe down. Remember everyone is there for a reason and we are all trying to have a pleasant experience. Being a good sport can rub off on others and can make the whole event better for everyone.

World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?

I have acting and modeling training from Barbizon Chique, located in Broomall PA.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2022 as a Queen?

Being the beast I can be. Always go for the best opportunity and never lose sight of my dreams. I am preparing for the IMTA competition in LA for 2023.

World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

To encourage everyone to be their best selves. There is no such thing as perfection or completeness, we can always grow into better versions of ourselves. Helping the families within communities to become self-sufficient. Prior to COVID I was able to develop fundraisers for children yet due to shut-downs and occupancy restrictions I was unable to continue the

fundraisers through my office. My goal is to establish a non-profit that encourages and supports individuals and families into becoming self-sufficient within the community.
