World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Please tell us about yourself. I am a competitive dancer. I have been dancing since I was three years old. My favourite style of dance is contemporary and jazz, but I also do lyrical, ballet, hip hop, tap, Broadway jazz, neo-classical and acrobatics. I also do gymnastics on the weekend which I love. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing and playing with my fidget toys.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Please tell us about your Education. I am in year 5 at school and am looking forward to being a leaver next year. I hope to specialise in dance when I go to high school. I love science and art, and the best part about school is the friendships I have.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does Women Empowerment mean to you. I believe it is important for girls to know that they can do anything. To know they are good enough and strong enough to stand up to whatever comes their way. Sometimes girls get told that they can’t do certain things because they are a girl and we all need to know that we can do anything!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your Pageant history. I started competing for the first time in 2020 with Premier Elite Pageants in the Little Miss age group. It was my first time doing a pageant and in the beginning, I was very nervous. But after I attended my first workshop, I absolutely loved it.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What inspired you to do your first pageant? I have been competing in dance competitions since I was 3 and I wanted to try something different. It was something that I had never done anything like and I knew it would be an amazing experience.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? I chose to compete for my current title because I thought it would be an amazing experience, that I would make heaps of new friends and meet wonderful new people.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system, please tell us what it is about. When I competed for Little Miss, I participated in Fun Fashion, where I wore something that represented my personality, Op-Shop Fashion which consisted of an outfit entirely handmade and second hand, Evening Wear where I walked the runway in a gown, I also did a Talent which was my jazz routine and also Sportswear. I also represent a charity, which was Cat Haven.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are you being judged on during the competition? During the competition, you are being judged on poise, personality, beauty, confidence.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your experience during the competition. Throughout the competition from the first workshop, I attended to the final night, my experience was pure joy. I loved all the wonderful new people I met, I loved the feeling of self-worth that everyone made me feel, I loved expressing myself and I loved that I could try new things. I have definitely fallen in love with all things pageants.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your platform or what cause you volunteer for. I decided to represent Cat Haven. I absolutely adore animals and hope to work with them in the future, so I wanted to represent a charity and cause close to my heart. Cat Haven rescues and takes in cats in need, that have been neglected, strays and those whose owners can no longer take care of them. The charity like many others relies solely on the general public for funding and items they need.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What appearances have you made with your title. My mum contacted the lady at Cat Haven and she gave us a list of the items the cat need and that they never have enough of. We then set about putting a call out on social media to everyone we knew if they could possibly help out with the items. We ended up collecting a tin of money donations, hundreds of toys, food containers and blankets.

We then presented Cat Haven with all the goodies and we got to stay and meet some of the resident cats and kittens. It was so hard to not bring them all home!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are some of your achievements? Doing the collection for Cat Haven was the first thing I have done on my own for a charity. It was very rewarding to know that we had helped the cats in a way that will improve their comfort and happiness.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What makes you stand out from all the other beautiful girls? I believe that my confidence and also the fact that I am always on stage with my dancing, helped me stand out. In the beginning, I was a little unsure, but my confidence grew and I absolutely loved being on the runway and I think that showed as well.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner. When my name was called out as the winner, I could not believe it. I cried with happiness. It was like the room fell silent and it was just me standing there. It felt like it wasn’t real.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? Being a beauty queen means the absolute world to me. I love the idea of being a role model for other Little Miss finalists for 2021/22 and other girls that are thinking that they might like to try it. If I can help just one other girl feel confident enough to enter a pageant, then that would be the best thing ever!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did competing in pageants help your life? Competing in a pageant has helped me realise that I can succeed in anything I put my mind to. When I dance on stage I have all the confidence in the world, but sometimes when I’m not dancing I tend to not believe I can do something. That I am scared to try something new for fear of failure. Winning the pageant has given me a newfound confidence in myself and I no longer have self-doubt.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did pageants help your self-esteem and body image? It has helped in my self-esteem so much. I was bullied at school for the way I looked and I started to believe what they were saying. But being involved with the pageant has taught me to ignore the harsh words and not to let them bother me as much. The way you look on the outside doesn’t matter as much as what is on the inside. A beautiful heart is far more important than a beautiful face.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does that feel? Knowing that I am an inspiration to other girls and that they look up to me makes me so happy. To know that even one girl that looks at my story and thinks, I can do that, fills me with joy because that one girl can benefit, like me, in so many ways in such a positive way.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What is your strategy to win the judges over? Confidence and holding my head high. Looking at each and every judge as I walked by. I wanted them to see me as an open friendly and happy person.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you prepare for your competition? I prepared by doing lots of practice. I especially practiced walking in heels as this was new to me. I participated in pageant workshops and made sure I learned all I could about everything. I also tend to ask LOTS of questions!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for learning a better pageant walk? My tips would be to slow down. Don’t be in such a hurry and enjoy your time on the catwalk.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for choosing the right pageant dress? I would definitely say make sure you wear a dress you are comfortable in. One that is not itchy and will make you fidget. If you love what you’re wearing, it will show in front of the judges. Also choose a colour that complements your skin tone and don’t be too outrageous.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for a winning interview? I don’t do the interview process yet as I am too young, but if I did I would make sure that I was confident and had clear answers. Eye contact is very important as well.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What is one mistake that you’ve done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? I wish I had slowed down in some of my catwalks and shown a little more of my personality. I was just so excited to be there.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? Sometimes I think that some girls are very nervous and that can show in front of the judges. It can be hard for some girls that are shy to not be shy on the catwalk. But I also think that each person is individual and each girl will have their own expectations of themselves.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Any modelling or acting experience? I have been involved in a few dance photo shoots. I have also been talent scouted by an agent from New York that wants to represent me. This happened because of an international online dance competition I entered in 2020 where they were the judge.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans for 2021/22 as a Queen? I have appeared at numerous events as the Little Miss Queen with Premier Pageants. I also am in the process with my mum of collecting towels and toys for Cat Haven as my chosen charity for 2022 Finals with Premier. The charity means so much to me that I have chosen them again as my charity. I hope to help make people aware of the amazing work Cat Haven do with helping to rehome and take care of these beautiful animals.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? I would love it if every girl felt confident and beautiful enough to give pageants a go. If I can help girls feel like this, by sharing my journey, it would make me extremely happy.

Sometimes we just need someone our own age to believe in us, that we can relate to and that understands how we feel about ourselves. If I can be that someone, then that to me is the best thing EVER! Founder & Managing Director: Renata Grandao www.premierelitepageants.com
