World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does women Empowerment mean to you?

The essence of empowerment is to be self-aware, to know your strengths and weaknesses. Once you know how you can empower your soul, you can empower others. Empowerment is to be able to gather your experiences and share it further and provide the right tools of success and perseverance to others. To have the power of wisdom and have the intent to share it with others is true empowerment for me.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your pageant history.

Since I was a teenager, I had the dream and vision to win at least one beauty pageant in my lifetime. In college, although I was a busy student in Medicine, where there was no time to indulge in extracurricular activities, I managed my schedule and completed core training in ramp walk and choreographed fashion shows. I have been a performer all my life, and have always enjoyed being in the limelight on stage, I specifically have great love for the stage. I used to participate in medical college Fashion shows and also tried to get in beauty pageants as a teenager, however the show was cancelled and I lost that chance in 1998.

In 2019, I took the first leap of faith and entered a beauty pageant, I was in the final top 5, I won the title as ‘Mrs, Talented’ however I did not win the crown. In 2022, I gave it my best shot and promised myself that I will evolve as a much stronger participant, and aimed at winning the pageant. I was fortunate, and based on my learnings from 2019, I excelled in all the various segments of the pageant, and ultimately won the beautiful ‘CROWN’ along with the much-awaited title of ‘Mrs. Best CATWALK’. In future, I would like to participate in Mrs. Texas beauty pageant.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

Miss Universe 1994, Sushmita Sen and Miss World 1994 Aishwarya Rai, were the first public figures that had touched my teenager heart, and I wanted to go through the real test myself and participate in a beauty pageant. Being an Indian child, it was an honor to see the crowns being received by fellow young Indian women, I was truly inspired to see the charm, intelligence, and philanthropism of these beauty queens, and wanted to achieve something similar in my life. I admired the ability of the beauty queens, to function under such pressure, and still look beautiful on the stage.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

I was in my late 30’s when I saw the opportunity for Wives and mothers to participate in beauty pageants and go through the different segments to win the crown. My aim was to assess my personality and temperament by participating in a beauty pageant and succeed as an individual.

My Dream Entertainment is a prestigious platform that is founded by an amazing woman Mrs. Rashmi Bedi, who is a dedicated mother, an entrepreneur, and homemaker and she wanted to bring all the beautiful and talented women on the stage and help them in achieving their big audacious goals of participating in beauty pageant, give them opportunity to shine in fashion industry, acting, and contribute to the community through various non-profit initiatives. I admired Mrs. Rashmi Bedi’s courage and perseverance, to give such a beautiful platform and opportunity to so many women, I am aligned with her objectives of empowering women, hence this was the most suitable platform for me to kick off my pageant journey.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?

Every woman in the pageant is indeed beautiful, however in the process and in this industry, I see that we get too busy in promoting and highlighting our achievements and forgetting about those that truly need our support. I believe that my brand is my work, and my actions. I feel I maintain a balance of staying beautiful inside out by nurturing the beauty of others through education, providing guidance and empowering others who perhaps need a sounding board. Being a collaborative leader, I believe in sharing personal and professional experiences with other women in the industry to bring out their best to the world, and that makes me feel beautiful every day.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.

That was an unforgettable experience, I still get goosebumps as I had been waiting for that moment since my childhood. As soon as I heard the announcement, I was flabbergasted, as this was my long-awaited dream! On the stage as I was getting crowned, I thanked myself, my family and the almighty for letting me experience this moment.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

I have always yearned to become a beauty queen. To me a Beauty queen is someone who is compassionate, intelligent, sensible and has the ability to handle her beauty in the best way possible. Being beautiful from outside is a gift from my parents, however maintaining the real inner beauty is defined by my demeanor, actions, and willingness to help others achieve their goals. As a beauty queen, I have the responsibility to hone my skills and share my learnings in different aspects of life including fashion, academics, and life in general with other women and youth. I always pursue to become the best version of myself, and my ultimate mission is to help and enhance others so they can outshine in their respective field of work and feel better about themselves.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

I have been a performer since my childhood and loved the attention on stage. Beauty pageants do give the opportunity to shine on the stage, however participating in pageantry is not about just the day of the event, it is a journey. This journey has helped me to become a better person. As a part of the pageantry, I have supported various non-profit organizations, mentored others and have gained so much resilience to excel in various segments of the beauty pageant. The pageant preparation has taught me to be more disciplined, and to have great control on choices that I make in daily life. I have gained much more visibility and credibility in the community, that helps me to actively support non-profit initiatives and support various social causes.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did pageants helped your self-esteem and body image?

The pageant has instilled great confidence and faith in my own personality and physical attributes. I am thankful for the people that I have met during the pageants, my pageant sisters, mentors, and former beauty queens who made me believe that I am strong and cut out to be part of the pageant. Taking the first step to participate in the pageant gives you the faith that you can showcase your body and personality to the world. The first step is difficult; however once your journey begins and then you never look back.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?

I feel I have achieved something, and a lot has still to be done to constantly inspire others. It is an honor and blessing to be where I am and to be able to inspire and motivate other women. I feel this is just the beginning, I need to keep working hard, be always kind for the respect I get, and stay grounded to make a difference in this world. To be an inspiration to others is ultimately a huge responsibility as my actions will trigger the reactions.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?

Eye contact, eye contact and eye contact…

I cannot emphasize enough on how important it is to have direct eye contact with the judges. Just like when you are in a job interview, you need to ensure that you are listening and paying attention to the interviewer. When you are on stage, you are being assessed, and examined for the traits of a beauty queen, you need to maintain the poise, graceful expressions, walk confidently, and let the judges know that you acknowledge their presence by maintaining good eye contact in every segment. I feel my confidence was visible to the judges in every segment, and I tried to connect with the judges in every round, that really helped me to win the crown.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you prepare for your competition?

I had a vision board that had all the things that I needed to achieve for the pageant. Starting from healthy eating habits, consistent exercise routine, reading books, dance rehearsals, watching catwalk educational videos to enhancing my make-up techniques, I wanted to excel in all the areas, so I am well rounded and holistically prepared for the beauty pageant. I also reached out to the former beauty queens from different platforms to get their advice.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

Stay confident, pose gracefully and smile!

The best way to practice is wear the same shoes that you plan to wear on the big day. Never ever change the shoes at the last minute. Watch several catwalk/runway videos, however, ensure that you smile and are graceful during your pageant walks.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for choosing the right pageant dress?

Choose a dress that flaunts your curves and body shape, the dress doesn’t have to be expensive or trendy, rather it should suit your body type and make you feel confident and comfortable in your skin. Try to choose the dress well ahead of time and practice walking in that dress, accessorize wisely to enhance the overall look of the dress. Don’t go overboard to make everything perfect, believe that you are already perfect, and a dress is just to enhance your looks, it will not make or break your winning potential.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for winning an interview?

Maintain eye contact with the interviewer, believe in your inherent intelligence and acquired experience when answering questions. Stay authentic and honest in your answers, don’t brag, stay humble and always stay poised even when answering the most difficult questions. Never forget that you are a beauty queen so be calm and confident!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?

In the first beauty pageant I participated in, I was too ambitious to win the crown. I missed out on enjoying the experience. Rather, I was too competitive and focused on winning the crown, as a result, I did not take any pictures, did not connect with others as much and was not living in the moment. The first time I felt this is it, if I don’t win now, I will never win the crown, and that is not the correct mindset. Beauty pageant is not a competition, it is a journey that you can continue to live until you achieve your ultimate goals, hence my request to the women, is to enjoy the experience and live the journey to the fullest. When I participated the second time, I did everything that I missed to do in the first pageant and relived the moments.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?

I have observed that most of the girls are worried about the dress and the make-up however the most crucial part of your personality is your overall ‘CONFIDENCE’

Don’t stress too much on the dress, makeup and accessories focus on how you can make the attire look better on you rather than the dress making you look better.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Any modeling or acting experience?

I have been modeling since college days, and have continued to do so for various name brands. I have acted in a few theatrical dramas in college days, and will be glad to get acting opportunities in future. I feel acting gives you the opportunity to become someone you are not or cannot be in real life.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans for 2022 as a Queen?

I am currently preparing for walking the ramp in New York Fashion Week, truly excited to get this opportunity. I hope and plan to walk for various big designers if given an opportunity in future. As a mentor, I have provided mentorship to a few women so far in the pageantry and would love to serve as a professional mentor in both pageant world as well as corporate space. I plan to stay active in the non-profit initiatives that I currently support.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want people to remember me as the woman who lived life queen size along with her loved ones, the queen who created several other queens in the community through education and empowerment and contributed to a better future. To me my family is my pillar and the reason for me to become the person I am today. I want my Family and friends to know and remember that they played a crucial role in making me a queen, that they will always have a special place in my heart.
