World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share a bit about who you are? Like, what are your passions outside of the pageant world?

I believe my greatest title has always been "Mom." Everything I do begins with my family and the love I have for my son, Russell. Becoming a special needs mother completely changed the way I see the world. It taught me patience, resilience, compassion, and the importance of serving others. Those experiences inspired me to create Russell's Resilience, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children with disabilities and the families who love and care for them.

Outside of pageantry, I am deeply passionate about advocacy, community outreach, and helping people discover hope during difficult seasons of life. I enjoy volunteering, building relationships within the community, personal development, and spending quality time with my family. My greatest joy comes from knowing that something I do today may make tomorrow easier for another family. Whether I'm wearing a crown or simply having a conversation with another parent, my purpose remains the same—to encourage, uplift, and create opportunities that make a lasting difference.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey. What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges?

My educational journey has been one of continuous growth. While traditional education has been important, some of my greatest lessons have come from real-life experiences. Becoming a mother, especially to a child with special needs, taught me lessons that no classroom ever could. It challenged me to become more patient, more resourceful, and more determined than I ever imagined possible.

Every challenge became an opportunity to learn, and every obstacle became an opportunity to grow. Those experiences shaped not only who I am as a woman but also the leader I strive to be today. I believe education is a lifelong journey, and I continue investing in myself through leadership development, community involvement, nonprofit work, and learning from people whose lives inspire positive change.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally?

Women's empowerment means giving ourselves and one another permission to believe that our voices, experiences, and dreams truly matter. It means recognizing that strength doesn't always look loud or fearless. Sometimes strength looks like getting back up after disappointment, choosing kindness when life feels unfair, and continuing to move forward despite challenges.

To me, empowerment also means lifting other women as we climb. There is enough room for all of us to succeed. When women support one another instead of competing against one another, incredible things happen. I hope every woman realizes she doesn't have to become someone else to make an impact. She simply needs the courage to become the best version of herself.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially?

My journey into pageantry began because I realized a crown could represent something much greater than a competition. I saw pageantry as an opportunity to amplify my voice, share my story, and advocate for children with disabilities and their families. It wasn't about recognition; it was about creating a larger platform to inspire hope and bring awareness to a mission that is deeply personal to me.

Once I became involved, I quickly discovered that pageants develop far more than stage presence. They build confidence, communication skills, leadership, discipline, and lifelong friendships. They challenge you to become your best self while encouraging you to make a meaningful impact within your community. Especially Petite USA!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your first pageant? Was there a defining moment?

I entered my first pageant because I wanted to prove that titles carry responsibility. I wanted to demonstrate that a crown isn't simply something you wear—it represents service, leadership, integrity, and the opportunity to create positive change. Looking back, that decision has opened doors I never imagined and introduced me to people who continue to inspire me every day.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you?

Petite USA stood out to me because it emphasizes much more than appearance. It values leadership, community involvement, personal growth, and the ability to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Those values closely align with who I am and what I hope to accomplish through my platform.

Representing Indiana as Ms. Indiana Petite 2026 is an incredible honor because it gives me the opportunity to serve while encouraging others to believe that purpose is far more powerful than perfection. Every appearance, interview, and community event becomes another opportunity to advocate for children with disabilities and inspire others to turn challenges into purpose.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I'd love to know more about your pageant system. Could you explain what it’s all about?

Petite USA celebrates women who lead with confidence, compassion, intelligence, and integrity. While the competition includes traditional areas such as interview, evening gown, and on-stage presentation, the heart of the system focuses on leadership, personal development, community service, and positive influence.

It encourages women to use their titles as platforms for meaningful change rather than personal recognition. That philosophy is one of the reasons I am so proud to represent this organization. It creates an environment where women are empowered not only to compete but also to serve, inspire, and become leaders within their communities.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant director apart from others?

A great pageant director, such as Jenna, doesn't simply organize an event—they invest in people. What makes our leadership special is the genuine commitment to developing confident, compassionate women who understand the importance of service, professionalism, and character.

Our director creates an atmosphere where contestants feel encouraged, respected, and challenged to become the very best versions of themselves. That kind of leadership leaves a lasting impact long after the pageant is over. It is truly a sisterhood for life!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key things you're judged on?

While each system has its own criteria, competitors are generally evaluated on communication skills, confidence, interview ability, stage presence, poise, evening gown presentation, personality, and overall professionalism.

Beyond the scores, I believe judges are also looking for authenticity. They want to see a woman who knows who she is, believes in her platform, communicates with confidence, and demonstrates genuine leadership both on and off the stage. Titles may be awarded in a single evening, but true queens are remembered for the impact they make long after the competition ends.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings?

Competition has taught me something new—not just about pageantry, but about myself. I've learned that preparation builds confidence, authenticity resonates with people, and grace under pressure is one of the greatest strengths a woman can possess. Every rehearsal, interview, and appearance has helped me grow as both a competitor and a leader.

The most memorable moments are not always when I'm on stage. They're the conversations afterward with young girls, parents, and women who tell me that something I shared inspired them to believe in themselves again. Those moments remind me that pageantry is about far more than crowns. It's about influence, connection, and using your voice to make someone else's life a little brighter.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant system to others? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend Petite USA to any woman looking to grow personally while making a positive impact in her community.

This system recognizes that true beauty extends beyond appearance. It celebrates leadership, service, professionalism, confidence, and authenticity. It creates an environment where women encourage one another, develop lifelong friendships, and learn skills that continue benefiting them long after the competition is over.

For anyone considering pageantry, I would say this: don't let fear stop you. The greatest reward isn't necessarily the crown—it's discovering just how capable you truly are.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about?

My greatest passion is advocating for children with disabilities and the families who care for them. As a special needs mother, I've experienced firsthand the emotional, physical, and financial challenges that many families quietly navigate every single day. That journey inspired me to establish Russell's Resilience, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing advocacy, resources, support, community outreach, and hope.

Through Russell's Resilience, our vision is to build partnerships with hospitals, schools, businesses, community organizations, and volunteers to create stronger support systems for families. We believe every child deserves opportunity, every family deserves encouragement, and no one should ever feel alone on their journey.

Community service is not something I do because I wear a crown. It's something I do because it reflects who I am and the legacy I hope to leave.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in?

As Ms. Indiana Petite 2026, I've had the privilege of participating in community events, nonprofit initiatives, networking opportunities, volunteer activities, and public speaking engagements that allow me to share my platform while representing the values of Petite USA.

One of the greatest blessings of holding this title has been the opportunity to introduce more people to Russell's Resilience and raise awareness for children with disabilities and their families. Every appearance becomes another opportunity to educate, inspire, and build meaningful relationships that strengthen our communities.

Whether I'm attending a fundraiser, speaking at a gala, volunteering, or simply meeting families in the community, I view every appearance as an opportunity to serve.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry?

While I am incredibly grateful to hold the title of Ms. Indiana Petite 2026, my greatest achievement has always been becoming the mother my son deserves.

Outside of pageantry, founding Russell's Resilience has been one of the most meaningful accomplishments of my life. Watching an idea born from personal experience grow into a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping others has been both humbling and inspiring.

Personally, I measure success differently than I once did. Success isn't measured by awards, titles, or by my Bachelor's or Master’s degrees. It's measured by lives touched, families encouraged, and opportunities created for others.

If my work helps even one child feel more included or one parent feel less alone, then I consider that a tremendous achievement.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: In such a competitive field, what do you think makes you stand out?

I believe authenticity is what makes me stand out.

I don't compete to be someone else. I compete to be the very best version of myself.

Everything I share comes from genuine life experience. My platform isn't something I selected because it sounded good—it was born from my family's journey and the lessons my son has taught me every day.

People connect with authenticity because it's real. My hope is that when others meet me, they don't simply remember a title or a crown. They remember someone who genuinely cares about people and uses every opportunity to create positive change.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I can only imagine how it feels to win. What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?

When I was chosen as state titleholder,  my first emotion was overwhelming gratitude.

I immediately thought about everyone who believed in me, encouraged me, and supported me throughout the journey. I also thought about my family, especially Russell, because this title represents something much greater than myself.

Winning wasn't simply confirmation that I had prepared well. It was confirmation that God had entrusted me with a larger responsibility.

That moment reminded me that this crown isn't about personal recognition—it's about using the platform to inspire others, advocate for families, and create meaningful impact within our communities.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a Beauty Queen mean to you?

To me, being a Beauty Queen means becoming a someone people can look up to.

It means recognizing that the crown isn't the destination—it's the beginning of greater responsibility.

A true queen leads with humility, compassion, confidence, and integrity. She understands that her greatest influence isn't found in how she looks but in how she makes others feel and the lives she helps improve.

Beauty fades over time, but kindness, character, leadership, and service leave a legacy that lasts forever.

That is the kind of queen I strive to be every single day.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life?

Petite USA has challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, improve my communication skills, develop professionally, and believe more deeply in my own abilities.

Perhaps most importantly, pageantry has given me a larger platform to advocate for Russell's Resilience and connect with people who share the same desire to create positive change.

It has reminded me that confidence is not about being perfect.

Confidence is about showing up authentically, embracing your purpose, and having the courage to make a difference.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants influenced your self-esteem and body image?

Pageantry has completely transformed the way I view beauty. Earlier in life, like many women, I sometimes measured myself against unrealistic standards or compared myself to others. Through pageantry, I discovered that confidence comes from embracing who you are rather than trying to become someone else. I have been diligent in self-care and my health.

I've learned that beauty isn't defined by a number on a scale, the size of a dress, or the reflection in a mirror. True beauty is reflected in your character, your compassion, your confidence, and your willingness to serve others. Health and determination make a big difference as well. You cannot pour from an empty cup; therefore physical, emotional, and spiritual health is important.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You’re an inspiration to many. How does that feel, and what message do you want to share with others?

It is incredibly humbling to know that my journey may encourage someone else. I never set out to inspire people—I simply wanted to live a life of purpose and serve others with authenticity. If my story helps one parent feel less alone, one young girl believe in herself, or one person find hope during a difficult season, then every challenge I've faced has been worth it.

The message I want to leave with others is simple: your greatest challenges do not define your future—they often reveal your purpose. Never underestimate the impact you can have simply by choosing kindness, believing in yourself, and refusing to give up. Sometimes the strongest people are the ones who quietly keep moving forward despite life's obstacles. Believe in God and all of his blessings.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your strategy for captivating the judges on stage?

My strategy is to stop thinking about impressing the judges and instead focus on connecting with them. Judges meet many contestants, but they remember those who are genuine. I want them to see the real Kayla—a woman who loves her family, serves her community, and truly believes in her platform.

When I walk onto the stage, I remind myself that confidence isn't pretending to be perfect. Confidence is believing that your experiences, your values, and your purpose are enough. I smile because I'm grateful to be there, I speak from my heart, and I allow my passion for serving others to shine through naturally.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you prepare for competitions? Any specific routines or practices?

Preparation begins long before competition weekend. I spend time researching, practicing interviews, refining my walk, studying current events, improving my communication skills, and maintaining both my physical and mental well-being. I believe preparation creates confidence, and confidence allows you to perform at your very best.

Equally important is taking time to reflect on why I'm competing. Before every event, I remind myself that I'm not there simply to win a title—I'm there to represent a mission bigger than myself. Prayer, gratitude, positive thinking, and remembering the families we serve through Russell's Resilience help keep me grounded and focused throughout the entire competition.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Got any tips for nailing the perfect pageant walk?

The perfect walk begins long before you step onto the stage. It's about posture, confidence, grace, and believing in yourself. Every movement should feel natural, elegant, and intentional—not rushed or forced.

My biggest advice is to practice until your walk becomes second nature, but never lose your personality. A beautiful walk may capture attention, but genuine confidence and authentic joy capture hearts. Walk with purpose, smile sincerely, make eye contact, and remember that confidence is your greatest accessory.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Choosing the right pageant dress can be crucial. What are your tips for making the best choice?

The perfect gown is one that allows your confidence—not just the dress—to shine. While style and color are important, the dress should complement your personality rather than overpower it. When you feel comfortable, confident, and elegant, it naturally shows on stage.

I encourage contestants to choose a gown that reflects who they are, fits beautifully, and allows them to move gracefully. Trends come and go, but confidence, poise, and authenticity never go out of style. When you see the dress, you will know! It will speak to you. Never settle for anything else than what you feel beautiful and comfortable in!

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Interview rounds can be tricky. What are your strategies for a winning interview?

My approach is simple: be prepared, be authentic, and be present. Interview isn't about memorizing perfect answers—it's about allowing judges to meet the person behind the crown. I spend time reflecting on my experiences, understanding my platform, and preparing to speak confidently about the causes that matter most to me.

I also remind myself that judges aren't looking for perfection. They're looking for sincerity, leadership, emotional intelligence, and someone who will represent the title with integrity. The best interview advice I can give is this: don't try to give the answer you think judges want to hear. Give the answer that genuinely reflects who you are.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Looking back, is there a moment in a competition you wish you could redo?

Every experience—whether successful or challenging—has contributed to the woman I am today. Rather than wishing to redo a particular moment, I choose to view every competition as an opportunity to learn and grow. Growth often comes from the moments that don't go exactly as planned.

Those experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and humility. They remind me that progress is more important than perfection. Every competition has prepared me to become a stronger leader, a better advocate, and a more confident woman.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What common mistakes do you see others making in contests?

One of the most common mistakes is comparing yourself to everyone around you. Comparison steals confidence and distracts you from what makes you unique. Every contestant brings different experiences, strengths, and gifts to the stage, and that's something to celebrate rather than fear.

Another mistake is believing that pageantry is only about appearance. Judges are looking for women who possess leadership, integrity, communication skills, confidence, and authenticity. The contestants who make the greatest impact are often those who remain true to themselves and compete with kindness, professionalism, and grace.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Do you have any experience in modeling or acting?

While my primary focus has been community service, advocacy, and pageantry, these experiences have naturally developed many of the same skills found in modeling and public presentation. I have been in a couple small films, been in modeling for several years, and represented 1000s of brands internationally.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans or goals for the upcoming year as a Queen?

This year, my primary goal is to use my title as a catalyst for meaningful change. I want every appearance, interview, community event, and partnership to create greater awareness for children with disabilities and the incredible families who support them every day.

One of my greatest priorities is continuing to grow Russell's Resilience, the nonprofit organization inspired by my son, Russell. Our vision is to expand community outreach, build strategic partnerships with hospitals, schools, businesses, and nonprofit organizations, and create programs that provide advocacy, resources, encouragement, and hope for families. We are committed to building an organization that not only responds to immediate needs but also creates lasting opportunities for future generations.

Personally, I also hope to encourage more women to believe in themselves. Too often, people wait until they feel "ready" before pursuing their dreams. My journey has taught me that courage comes first, and confidence follows. If I can inspire someone to take that first step toward their purpose, then I know I've used my title well.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Finally, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind?

When people hear my name years from now, I hope they remember that I genuinely cared about people and used every opportunity I was given to make someone's life a little brighter.

I hope my legacy is one of compassion, service, and resilience. I want families raising children with disabilities to know they are seen, valued, and supported. I want young girls to understand that beauty begins with kindness, confidence, and character—not perfection. I want women to believe that life's greatest challenges can become their greatest purpose.

To me, that is the legacy worth leaving.
