World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share a bit about who you are? Like, what are your passions outside of the pageant world?
Hi! I'm Karthigeswari, a 27-year-old Singaporean who believes in chasing dreams with courage and grace. Outside of pageantry, I have a deep love for dancing, cycling, and writing. They are my personal outlets for expression and staying grounded. Whether it's penning down reflections or cycling to clear my mind, these passions give me a strong sense of self. I’m also a big fan of fashion, food, and music. You’ll find me just as happy in heels as I am in shoes, dancing freely, soaking in nature, or unwinding with a good TV series.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey. What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges?
Education has always been an important part of my life. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, which taught me the value of empathy and service. It hasn’t always been easy juggling work, studies, and personal challenges which required a lot of discipline. But the highlight has always been connecting with people from all walks of life and learning how to be a voice for the vulnerable. My academic journey shaped me into someone who not only wants to shine but also help others rise.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally?
To me, women’s empowerment means giving ourselves the permission to take up space unapologetically. It’s about lifting other women up while breaking our own barriers. I come from a community where traditional expectations still linger, so standing tall on the pageant stage was more than just winning a crown. It was redefining what’s possible for someone like me. Empowerment is knowing your worth, using your voice, and helping others see the power within themselves too.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially?
I was always intrigued by pageants, but I never imagined myself being part of one until I found myself at a turning point in life where I wanted to challenge my comfort zone. Watching other women confidently own the stage made me wonder, "What if I gave this a shot?" That curiosity turned into action, and before I knew it, I was preparing for my very first competition. It was a leap of faith and I’m so glad I jumped.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your first pageant? Was there a defining moment?
Absolutely! The defining moment was when I realized I wanted to reclaim my confidence. After going through a period of self-doubt, I needed something powerful to remind myself of my strength. The pageant stage became that platform for me. It wasn’t about seeking validation, but about rediscovering my voice, learning to walk with purpose, and showing others that beauty and strength can come from healing and growth.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you?
Miss Singapore Global Universe stood out to me because of its heart. It wasn’t just about glitz and glamour, it was about purpose, diversity, and authenticity. The platform celebrates women who lead with substance and soul. As someone passionate about empowerment and community work, I felt aligned with the values they stood for. I knew that this platform would allow me to not just wear a sash, but to make a real impact.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I'd love to know more about your pageant system. Could you explain what it’s all about?
The Miss Singapore Global Universe system is one that truly honours global beauty with a mission. It’s about more than just appearances. It’s about finding women who are educated, confident, socially aware, and driven by a purpose larger than themselves. It encourages cultural pride, leadership, and social responsibility, while still embracing the glamour of the pageant world. I felt that balance of elegance and authenticity the moment I joined.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant director apart from others?
Our pageant director truly sees the queen in every contestant even before we do. What makes her different is how she nurtures growth while maintaining high standards. She doesn’t just prepare us for the stage, she prepares us for life. Her mentorship was empowering yet honest, pushing us to evolve not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. That kind of leadership creates confident women who shine far beyond the spotlight.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key things you're judged on?
Judging in pageants goes far beyond outer beauty. It's a comprehensive evaluation of who you are both on and off stage. In our competition, we were judged on several key areas: personality, question-and-answer segments, catwalk and poise, beauty and confidence, as well as the talent round. Each category offers a chance to showcase different strengths from how well you express yourself to how gracefully you carry yourself under pressure.
Judges are not just looking for someone who looks the part, but someone who lives it with authenticity and purpose. They observe how you interact with others, how grounded you are in your values, and how well you can connect, inspire, and represent with elegance and integrity. It’s about being both regal and real.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings?
It’s been an unforgettable journey filled with nerves, glitter, laughter, and a lot of soul-searching. One of my most memorable moments was standing backstage, holding the hands of girls who were technically my “competition,” yet we were each other’s biggest cheerleaders. That taught me sisterhood is the real crown. I also learned to trust my instincts, to embrace imperfections, and that growth comes from every stumble and strut.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant system to others? If so, why?
Absolutely, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Miss Singapore Global Universe pageant system to others. It’s a platform that nurtures confidence, leadership, and purpose. Unlike the misconception that pageants are all about looks, this system truly values what each woman brings to the table in terms of advocacy, purpose, and individuality. It creates a space for women from all backgrounds to shine authentically and be celebrated for who they are.
For me, it was more than a competition. It was a transformational experience. I entered unsure and left empowered, with lifelong friendships and a stronger sense of self. If you’re looking for a pageant that challenges you to grow while being part of a supportive sisterhood, this is the one.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about?
As someone with a background in Social Work, advocacy has always been at the heart of who I am. I’m deeply passionate about supporting vulnerable communities, especially education for children and women facing emotional challenges. Through my professional work in social services, I’ve had the opportunity to walk alongside individuals during their most difficult moments offering not just help, but hope.
Outside of work, I’ve also been involved in tutoring underprivileged children. My advocacy is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves equal access to opportunities, and that healing begins when we’re seen, heard, and supported. Pageantry has given me a larger voice, and I hope to use it to amplify the importance of compassion and kindness.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in?
With the title of Miss Singapore Global Universe First Runner Up, I’ve had the honour of attending the Miss Global Universe 2025 International pageant. The experience allowed me to connect with people and share the values we stand for. One of the most fulfilling parts has been engaging with young women through social media who aspire to join pageantry or simply build confidence in themselves. My role has allowed me to represent not just a title, but a message: beauty with purpose is powerful, and every woman deserves to feel seen, heard, and celebrated.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry?
One of my proudest achievements in pageantry is earning the title of Miss Singapore Global Universe First Runner Up, a milestone that marked my growth, courage, and authenticity as a newcomer to the scene. I was also honored with the Fashionista Global Model Award recently, which was a wonderful recognition of my style and presence. Beyond pageants, I’ve built a meaningful career in social services, working closely with diverse communities to create real, positive change through advocacy and support.
Academically, I earned my degree in Social Work and have been privileged to help several students improve their academic performance as a part-time tutor. Yet, my greatest achievement goes beyond titles and degrees. It’s rediscovering the strength to believe in myself and using that strength to inspire and uplift others around me.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: In such a competitive field, what do you think makes you stand out?
What makes me stand out is my balance of vulnerability and strength. I don’t just wear a crown, I wear my experiences with pride. I’ve learned to turn past pain into power, and that authenticity resonates. I also bring my social work background into the pageant world, making everything I do deeply rooted in purpose and compassion. I’m relatable yet driven, graceful yet grounded. Whether I’m on stage or off, I stay true to myself, and that honesty makes an impact.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I can only imagine how it feels to win. What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?
When I heard my name announced as First Runner Up, I felt this wave of disbelief, gratitude, and pride all at once. My heart was pounding not just from the excitement, but from the emotional journey it took to get there. It wasn’t just about the crown, it was about every moment of doubt I overcame to stand confidently on that stage. I remember thinking, “Wow, I did it. I really did it.” That moment will forever remind me that stepping into the unknown can lead to the most beautiful rewards.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a Beauty Queen mean to you?
Being a Beauty Queen means being a woman of purpose. It’s not just about how you walk, but how you lead. It’s about using your voice to inspire change, being a role model to others, and standing firm in your values. We believe in carrying ourselves with grace, dignity, and responsibility. To me, it’s about wearing the crown not just on your head, but in your heart and making every appearance, conversation, and post count for something meaningful.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life?
Pageantry has been life-changing. It’s given me the space to grow, to heal, and to find a version of myself I didn’t know existed. It has helped me break free from self-limiting beliefs and has taught me how powerful it is to stand confidently in my truth. It’s also opened doors not just professionally, but personally. I’ve met inspiring women, formed unforgettable memories, and discovered a new sense of purpose that extends far beyond the stage.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants influenced your self-esteem and body image?
Before joining pageantry, I struggled with self-doubt. However, being in this space challenged me to see myself differently, not in comparison to others, but in celebration of who I am. I learned that confidence is about embracing your uniqueness and walking proudly in your skin. Pageants helped me build a healthier relationship with my body and mind. I’ve learned to appreciate my strengths and love my journey.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You’re an inspiration to many. How does that feel, and what message do you want to share with others?
It’s incredibly humbling and heartwarming to hear that. I never started this journey to become an inspiration, I simply wanted to become a better version of myself. But if my story can give someone else the courage to chase their own dreams, that means everything to me. To those reading this: You don’t have to be the loudest or the boldest to make an impact. Start where you are, with what you have, and let your light shine in your own way. You’re enough, and you are worthy!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your strategy for captivating the judges on stage?
For me, it’s all about authenticity. When I step on stage, I remind myself to stay present and connect with the audience, including the judges, as if I’m telling them a story without words. It’s less about perfection and more about presence. I also focus on eye contact, posture, and owning my space. The energy you bring matters more than anything else and when it’s genuine, people feel it.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you prepare for competitions? Any specific routines or practices?
Preparation starts from within. I work on my mindset by journaling and visualizing success which is not just winning, but feeling proud of my performance. Physically, I maintain a balanced workout routine with an emphasis on leg strength and posture, and I practice my walk regularly. I also rehearse interview questions with trusted friends and review my advocacy goals. Preparation is part physical, part mental, and part emotional where all of which help me feel grounded and ready.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Got any tips for nailing the perfect pageant walk?
Absolutely! Own the stage like it belongs to you. A perfect pageant walk is about flowing with grace and confidence. Keep your chin up, shoulders relaxed, and let your inner queen shine through every step. Practice makes progress, so walk in front of mirrors, record yourself, and make small tweaks. Most importantly, walk with purpose! Let every step say, “I’m here, I’m proud, and I deserve to be seen.”
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Choosing the right pageant dress can be crucial. What are your tips for making the best choice?
Choose a dress that not only flatters your body but also makes you feel powerful. The right dress should speak to your personality whether it’s bold, elegant, or playful. I always look for something that feels like “me” the moment I wear it. Also, consider how it moves with you on stage. Comfort is just as important as style because when you feel confident, it radiates. Trust your gut. If a dress makes you light up, that’s the one!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Interview rounds can be tricky. What are your strategies for a winning interview?
Be real, be ready, and be rooted in your “why.” I approach interviews like a heart-to-heart conversation. I prepare by practicing common questions, but I make sure my answers still come from a genuine place. Confidence is key, but so is warmth. Smile, listen carefully, and answer with clarity. Let your passion shine through. The judges aren’t just looking for words, they’re looking for connection.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Looking back, is there a moment in a competition you wish you could redo?
If I could redo anything, it would be the way I managed my nerves during one of the early rounds. I was so focused on being “perfect” that I forgot to enjoy the moment. Looking back, I wish I had just let go and trusted myself more. But that moment taught me a valuable lesson, that grace under pressure is something you learn with experience, and every setback is a setup for a better comeback.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What common mistakes do you see others making in contests?
One common mistake is trying too hard to fit a mold instead of showcasing their true selves. People can sense when someone is rehearsed rather than real. Another is underestimating the importance of preparation. Pageantry is more than just showing up pretty as it’s a full-on commitment of body, mind, and heart. Lastly, comparing yourself to others can be self-sabotaging. Your uniqueness is your strength so embrace it fully.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Do you have any experience in modeling or acting?
I have some informal modeling experience dating back to 2021, having participated in both paid and collaborative photoshoots and video projects. It’s something I’ve grown more confident with over time, and I truly enjoy expressing myself through fashion and movement. Acting is something I’m curious about and open to exploring in the future. I love storytelling, and I believe acting could be another way for me to use my voice creatively and impactfully.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans or goals for the upcoming year as a Queen?
This year, I aim to use my platform to continue raising awareness and advocating for the empowerment of underprivileged children and women, particularly through education. I also aim to grow as an advocate, sharing my story on larger platforms and hopefully inspiring more women to step out of their comfort zones. On a personal level, I’m committed to learning and evolving. And if the stars align, preparing for an international pageant opportunity that allows me to represent my country on a global stage!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Finally, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind?
I want to be remembered as the queen who made people feel seen and heard. Someone who used her crown not just as a symbol of beauty, but as a tool for impact. My legacy, I hope, will be one of authenticity, resilience, and kindness showing that you don’t need to be perfect to be powerful. I want to inspire the next woman who doubts herself to take that first bold step, and to know that she, too, is worthy of every crown she dares to chase!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine would like to say thank you for this wonderful interview.
