World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? I was interested in the Pageant because it gave me model and talent exposure and I was able to pursue my love of dance. World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? This Pageant honors married women who are successful with their family, career and within the community. World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? This pageant is about "pageant with a purpose". It gives you a voice to promote your platform to help the community and the world. World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition? It is 50% interview, 25% swimsuit and 25% gown. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. We did the pageant on zoom because of the current pandemic. I was practicing on zoom for my interview so this made it easier when we had to do it live on zoom. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. My platform is "Mentoring Young Girls to become Future Leaders through the Girl Scouts of the United States of America". Some of the areas I have focused on include: teaching my GirlScouts how to sew and making masks for the community , uplifting our elderly citizens by making handcrafted earrings , providing meals for the hungry through collecting canned and nonperishable food, bringing hope to children in foster care by collecting stuffed animals and making sure every young girl can join the organization through the Share Leadership Program. This program fundraises to provide money for scholarships and other opportunities for every girl. I will be doing this by making baked goods and selling them during the Holiday Season. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title? My first appearance was with my GirlScout Troop. My daughter is a GirlScout and I was the Co-Leader at the time. I met with the girls to announce I was appointed Ambassador for the GirlScouts Nation's Capital and I had chosen the GirlScouts as my Platform for Mrs. Georgetown to compete for the title of Mrs. DC America 2020. I am now the Leader of Troop 3774 and am currently reigning as Mrs. DC America. Other appearances included: collecting stuffed animals to donate to the Greenleaf Foster Care and Adoption Center in Washington DC; donating Girl Scout Cookies to Retirement Communities in the area; collecting canned food to donate to the Capital Area Food Bank in the City and making homemade masks for hospitals nearby. World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements? I received a BA in Speech Communication from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. My love of travel had me pursue a career as a Flight Attendant which took me to over 20 different countries. My greatest accomplishments are marrying my husband and being home to raise my 2 incredible children. World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls? Having a higher calling. I believe my life experience. I am one of the older contestants and with age comes wisdom. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner. It was a beautiful moment!! I had waited 36 years for this. At 18, I was in my 3rd Pageant where I went to the State Level and lost. I closed the door to that dream but God opened the door again. He wanted to use me for a greater purpose and a higher calling to be a voice to people who do not have a voice. He also wanted me to save the GirlScoutswhich has been around since 1912 and be a positive role model for young girls and the youth of our country. World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? It is an honor to represent the District of Columbia and be a positive role model to young girls and women of every age! World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life? It has made me more confident, more well spoken and more accomplished. I believe after you have competed in a beauty pageant of this caliber, you can be anything you dream of being.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self esteem and body image? I believe being fit is great for your health and it is truly a lifestyle. I enjoy all types of activities and having to be in a swimsuit really inspires me to be my healthiest and look my best. World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? My platform is "Mentoring Young Girls to become Future Leaders through the GirlScouts of the United States of America". I am excited to be a positive role model for all women. My daughter is 11 and a GirlScout. It truly starts in the home. If I can positively influence my daughter, I can change the world! World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over? Walk on the stage with confidence and believe you have already won! World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? I hired a pageant coach, a life coach, a public speaking coach and a personal trainer. I believe preparation is the key to success.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk? I believe hiring a walking coach that has been on the stage, watching videos, practicing at home and being a model also helps in this arena. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing the right pageant dress? The dress has to fit perfectly and really showcase your personal style. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning an interview? I read several books on winning beauty queens , books from all different genres and hired a pageant coach. World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've made during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? I was not able to make my pageant rehearsal because of a modeling job. I believe preparation is so important. World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? If you are not prepared, you are not confident. World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience? I am with 2 New York Agencies and an agency in Richmond. Last year at the age of 54, I had 5 National Campaigns! World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2021 as a Queen? My number one goal it to teach my GirlScout Troop how to serve others in the community! We are a service organization. Our Motto is: "A GirlSout is ready to help out whenever she is needed. Willingness to serve is not enough, you must know how to do the job well, even in an emergency."
