World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share a bit about who you are? Like,
what are your passions outside of the pageant world?
Outside of pageantry, I’m a proud mother, wife, entrepreneur, and advocate. I’m
passionate about empowering women, especially single mothers, by helping them
rebuild confidence through mentorship and skills development. My life revolves around
food — from running my Fish & Wedges and Japanese-Western eateries to consulting in
the F&B sector. I also love nature and water sports, and often volunteer as a safety boat
pilot during national events in Singapore. Life becomes truly beautiful when you live
with purpose and serve from the heart.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey.
What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges?
I studied Business Administration and began my career in banking with UOB and Visa.
The corporate world gave me structure and discipline, but it was entrepreneurship that
taught me resilience and innovation. Shifting from a stable paycheck to managing
teams, operations, and risks in the F&B industry was challenging — but it led me to
discover my deeper purpose, and I’ve never looked back.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic.
What does it mean to you personally?
Women’s empowerment means giving women the tools, voice, and confidence to
believe in themselves — especially when the world doesn’t. Having once been a single
mother navigating tough times, I know the struggle firsthand. Today, I mentor women to
turn challenges into strength. Empowerment is about lifting others as we rise.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What
sparked your interest initially?
I never imagined I’d join a pageant in my 50s. But when I came across the Lumiere
International platform, I felt a spark. It wasn’t about beauty — it was about substance.
The idea of sharing my journey, inspiring others, and representing mature women who
still dare to dream felt powerful. It became a calling, not just a competition.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your
first pageant? Was there a defining moment?
Honestly, it wasn’t something I had planned. A few queens from Miss Singapore and
Miss Heritage saw something in me — a spark, a story worth sharing — and they
registered me for Mrs Singapore Global Universe 2025. Before I knew it, I was being
interviewed by CEO Justina Quek. I decided to embrace the moment with an open heart
and good sportsmanship. I went with the flow… and here I am today, proudly wearing
the crown and sharing my voice.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your
current title? What made it stand out for you?
Mrs Singapore Global Universe stood out because of its emphasis on empowerment,
elegance, and community service. It wasn't just about the glamor — it was about
creating impact. The system celebrated real women with real stories, and I felt my voice
and advocacy could truly shine here.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I'd love to know more about your pageant
system. Could you explain what it’s all about?
Lumiere International Pageantry is a unique platform that blends beauty with heart. It
celebrates inner substance, community involvement, and individuality. It’s not just
about perfect gowns or smiles — it’s about what you stand for. Contestants are
encouraged to use their titles to create real impact, advocate for causes, and inspire
through authenticity. It’s empowering in the truest sense.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant
director apart from others?
CEO Justina Quek is a visionary. She leads with both heart and structure, and she
genuinely cares about every queen’s journey. She doesn’t just crown winners — she
cultivates leaders. Her ability to see potential, build confidence, and guide us through
this journey with grace and discipline is what makes her stand out. She reminds us that
we are more than just contestants — we are role models.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key
things you're judged on?
We’re judged holistically — our stage presence, walk, poise, and performance matter, of
course. But even more importantly, judges look for authenticity, communication,
advocacy, and confidence. It’s not about being flawless — it’s about being real,
articulate, and purpose-driven. Every segment, from interview to talent and evening
gown, is a chance to express who you truly are.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been
like? Any memorable moments or learnings?
It’s been transformational. One moment I’ll never forget was the talent segment where I
performed a fan dance to Heal the World. Our youngest daughter choreographed it for
me — a beautiful symbol of our bond and shared dreams. I’ve learned that pageants are
not just about winning a crown, but about conquering fears, embracing sisterhood, and
discovering new dimensions of yourself.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant
system to others? If so, why?
Absolutely. Lumiere is more than a pageant — it’s a journey of self-discovery and
empowerment. Whether you're 21 or 55, married, divorced, or widowed, there’s a place
for you. If you’re looking for a platform that nurtures your voice, purpose, and
confidence, this is it. You’ll walk away not only with memories but with a mission.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer
work. What causes are you passionate about?
My advocacy focuses on single mothers & children — a cause close to my heart. Having
walked that path, I understand the emotional and financial struggles they face. I mentor
women in dikicult circumstances, helping them find strength through skills training,
confidence-building, and employment in the F&B sector. I also volunteer with food
charities and environmental ekorts like waterway cleanups.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances
or activities have you been involved in?
Since winning, I’ve been featured in Inspiring Stories SG Visionaries, invited as a judge
for international pageants, and interviewed across media platforms. I’ve also
represented my platform in community events, collaborated with sponsors, and
conducted motivational sharing sessions. Wearing the crown comes with responsibility,
and I use every opportunity to uplift others and spread awareness for my advocacy.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements,
both in and outside of pageantry?
In pageantry, I was honored with multiple titles: Mrs Singapore Global Universe 2025,
Asia Pacific Queen of Substance – Diamond Queen Award, Mrs Empowerment Beauty,
Mrs Wellness Empowerment, Mrs Glamour Queen of the Year, Mrs Lumina Ambassador,
and Queen of People's Choice. Outside of pageantry, I’m a successful F&B
entrepreneur, founder of OPG Ocean Playground and Wafu House, and a grant
consultant. I’m also a proud mom and wife — that’s my biggest achievement of all.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: In such a competitive field, what do you
think makes you stand out?
What makes me stand out is my story, my sincerity, and my purpose. I’m not here to be
perfect — I’m here to be real. I represent women who’ve faced life’s storms and still
choose to rise with grace. My life experiences — as a single mother, a businesswoman,
a volunteer — bring depth to my presence. I don’t just wear the crown; I carry it with
intention.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I can only imagine how it feels to win. What
was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?
Honestly, I was so calm and simply going with the flow that I didn’t even fully register the
moment at first. I was holding hands with Dion, Mrs Asia Pacific 2025, as we waited on
stage. When my name was announced, I actually turned to her and asked, “What title
did I just win?” It was such a surreal moment — not driven by nerves or expectations,
just pure presence and gratitude.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a Beauty Queen mean to
you?
Being a Beauty Queen means being a role model with a voice and a mission. It’s about
leading with compassion, inspiring others with your journey, and using your platform to
create impact. The crown is not just a symbol of beauty — it’s a badge of responsibility.
To me, it’s about serving others while staying true to yourself.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life?
Pageantry has opened doors I never imagined. It’s helped me grow in confidence, form
beautiful sisterhoods, and refine my purpose. It taught me that self-love isn’t selfish —
it’s essential. Most importantly, it gave me the space to reclaim my identity beyond
motherhood and entrepreneurship — to rediscover the woman I am inside.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants influenced your selfesteem
and body image?
For years, I put myself last — like many women do. Pageantry reminded me to embrace
every curve, every scar, every part of my journey. I’ve come to love my body not because
it’s perfect, but because it tells a story of strength. Now, I stand on stage proudly — not
just for me, but to encourage other women to love themselves fully.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You’re an inspiration to many. How does
that feel, and what message do you want to share with others?
It’s humbling and a huge honor. I never set out to be an inspiration — I simply wanted to
be honest about my journey. If my story gives one woman the courage to start again,
then every step was worth it. My message is: No matter your age, past, or pain — you are
worthy, you are beautiful, and your dreams still matter.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your strategy for captivating the
judges on stage?
Authenticity. When you walk on stage, you’re not just presenting a look — you’re telling a
story. I focus on connecting with the audience and judges with my energy, posture, and
expression. Confidence, elegance, and sincerity go a long way. Be present, and let your
purpose shine through your poise.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you prepare for competitions? Any
specific routines or practices?
To be honest, I kept my preparation simple. Aside from our regular weekly catwalk
training, I didn’t follow any intense routines. Instead, I chose to stay true to myself, trust
the process, and embrace the journey. On the finals night, I went with the flow, stayed
grounded, and let my authenticity shine through.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Got any tips for nailing the perfect pageant
walk?
Own your space. Keep your posture tall, your steps graceful, and your eyes forward with
intention. Practice in your actual heels, know your turns, and let your personality flow
through your movement. Confidence is key — it’s not just about how you walk, but how
you own the moment.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Choosing the right pageant dress can be
crucial. What are your tips for making the best choice?
Choose a gown that reflects your personality and enhances your best features. Comfort
is just as important as style — you need to move gracefully and feel confident. Work
with designers or professional who understand your vision and body type.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Interview rounds can be tricky. What are
your strategies for a winning interview?
Be clear, authentic, and concise. Know your platform well, speak from the heart, and
maintain eye contact. Practice with feedback, but don’t memorize — the goal is
connection, not perfection. And most importantly, breathe. Confidence comes when
you speak with conviction and stay true to your story.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Looking back, is there a moment in a
competition you wish you could redo?
If anything, I’d remind myself to soak in every moment without overthinking. During
rehearsals, I was sometimes too focused on getting things right instead of enjoying the
experience. I wish I had danced more backstage, laughed more, and trusted myself
more. Every moment is a gift — even the nerve-wracking ones.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What common mistakes do you see others
making in contests?
Trying to be someone else. Pageants aren’t about fitting a mold — they’re about
standing out with authenticity. Some contestants focus too much on the "look" and
forget the "why." Another mistake is letting nerves overpower preparation. Confidence
comes from knowing who you are and why you’re there.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Do you have any experience in modeling or
acting?
I’ve always been a simple woman who preferred staying behind the scenes, so stepping
into the spotlight wasn’t something I naturally pursued. However, I challenged myself by
taking on the role of a judge for our production "Girls Can’t Cook," a meaningful project
where women competed by learning to cook and gain confidence in the kitchen.
Pageantry has since opened new doors—I’ve been featured in brand campaigns, filmed
influencer content, and am now exploring more media appearances and ambassador
roles that align with my advocacy. While I may not come from a traditional modeling or
acting background, I proudly represent real women with real stories—and that kind of
authenticity is its own powerful presence.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans or goals for the
upcoming year as a Queen?
I plan to continue mentoring women & children, especially single mothers, through skillbuilding
programs and collaborations. I also hope to represent Singapore at
international pageants and share our unique blend of culture, strength, and elegance.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Finally, what kind of legacy do you hope to
leave behind?
I hope to be remembered as someone who inspired others to rise above their
circumstances. One of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had was mentoring a
former stak member through a dikicult period in her life. With guidance and
encouragement, she found the courage to leave the Philippines, build a life in Dubai,
and eventually settle down in Australia with her husband. Today, she proudly holds
Australian citizenship — and I’m honored to be her ninang (godmother). She once told
me, “Because of you, I believed I could rise too.” That, to me, is the legacy I hope to
leave — a legacy of empowerment, belief, and transformation.
