World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share a bit about who you are? What are your passions outside of the pageant world? I am a simple lady, married with two beautiful sons. I am a grandmother and my grandson is now eight years old. At the moment, I am helping my husband in his company as his admin. My passion is to empower more women to be more self-conscious of themselves.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I am curious about your education journey. What has it been like for you? Any particular highlights or challenges? My education journey is a simple one. There is nothing particularly interesting about my education.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women’s empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally? Women empowerment is being able to give support and good influence to all women out there. As for me, I would be glad and happy if I can share a positive influence with the women around me. Being a beauty queen myself, I am happy to have women in their 40s and 60s asking me how I maintain myself and remain confident. I just tell them to be happy and have faith in themselves.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially? It seems like my dream came true when I saw an advertisement on my Facebook account one day about the search for Mrs Malaysia Universe. I was very curious at that time because, to me, there was always a Miss category—I never knew there was a Mrs category. I went for the audition, but it seemed that I needed to travel a lot for the pageant, so there was an option for those coming from far to take up an ambassadorship. So there I was! I took my first ambassadorship as a Charisma Ambassador in 2017.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your first pageant? Was there a defining moment? I have a group of supportive friends who encouraged me to join this pageant. I would also like to thank my pageant director, Madam Lim Siew Ching, who is my greatest friend and guides me all the way. Until now, I am still learning a lot from her. She is a friendly and humble lady.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you? I chose my current title because I get to meet new people from around the world and make new friends. I also have the opportunity to travel overseas to do charity work. My current title allows me to represent my country, Sabah, the Land Below the Wind. I would like to promote East Malaysia to others, and this has given me the greatest privilege to promote my country.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’d love to know more about your pageant system. Could you explain what it’s all about? Yinzi Event and Marketing is a platform that promotes transformation, where women reclaim their identity, discover their voice, and rise into their fullest potential. It is about confidence, dignity, and the strength to lead with authenticity. It is a platform where resilience is honoured, leadership is nurtured, and a genuine spirit of unity is fostered.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant director apart from others? I think my pageant director is a very kind, friendly, and humble lady, and I cannot think of anyone else who compares.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key things you are judged for? I was judged on interview, my evening gown, and the charity work I was involved in. I would also like to thank Ms Samantha Goh, Mrs ASEAN 2016, for her guidance and support in many ways. She was the reason I was crowned the TKS Mrs Elite Ambassador.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings? My experience was an enjoyable one. I felt terrific, thrilled, and excited as I had never set foot on a stage. The process of preparing and choosing my gown and everything else was so satisfying and exciting. It was truly a memorable night to share with my friends and family.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant system to others? If so, why? Yes! I would definitely recommend my pageant system to others because it is a platform that uplifts and empowers women from all walks of life—married women, single mothers, widows, professionals, entrepreneurs, and women who have overcome personal trials with unwavering determination.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy and volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about? My voluntary work is mainly charity in my hometown. So far, I have not gone outside Malaysia. I am passionate about doing charity work.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in? I have been doing charity work in my hometown, where we give to a few orphanages. I really love meeting the children because they are so pitiful—beautiful children with no families to care for them.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry? I am Mrs Malaysia Universe, Charisma Ambassador, and Miss and Mrs Petite World Charity Ambassador 2017. I have made donations and raised funds for orphanages in Sabah and in Kuantan, West Malaysia. I plan to do more charity work in the future.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: In such a competitive field, what do you think makes you stand out? At my age, now 60, I am still able to help people in need. I also give full support to my East Malaysian group as they prepare for competition. Even though it is tiring to fly continuously for three months, I still support them throughout their journey until the finals.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a beauty queen mean to you? To me, being a beauty queen is not only having a crown on my head but wearing it with grace and dignity. Being a beauty queen is also a blessing. We are ordinary people too. With this crown, I would like to encourage more women to participate in pageantry.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life? It has been a very enjoyable journey to be with all the beautiful ladies, always meeting new friends. It has truly changed my life.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants influenced your self-esteem and body image? For me, at 60 years old—a wife, mother, and grandmother—I must look after my physical well-being before I can help others. I have to eat healthy food, take supplements, use good skincare, exercise, and maintain a positive mindset. Since becoming a beauty queen, I take extra care of my skin to look more radiant and I eat the right foods. Volunteering has helped raise my self-esteem. I feel happy whenever an elderly person looks at me and smiles. They simply need someone to talk to and someone to listen. Seeing them makes me even more passionate about what I do.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You’re an inspiration to many. How does that feel, and what message do you want to share with others? As an ambassador, I truly want to inspire more women. That is my greatest happiness. I feel touched and overwhelmed to be an inspiration. All women are beautiful—beautiful in their own unique way. They are God’s creation, and I am happy to inspire them so they can also inspire others.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your strategy for captivating the judges on stage? I have never thought about strategies to win over the judges. My goal was simply to do my very best, have confidence, act naturally, never be nervous, and always smile.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Got any tips for nailing the perfect pageant walk? To walk properly, we must have a pair of comfortable shoes—not too loose and not too tight. For the pageant walk, we must maintain good posture and practice daily. Practice, practice, practice makes perfect. When we are comfortable in our shoes and know the correct technique, we will walk gracefully on stage.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Choosing the right pageant dress is crucial. What are your tips for making the best choice? To choose the right pageant dress, we must understand the shape of our body. We must know which type of dress suits our figure so that it feels comfortable, beautiful, and stunning. Instinct will guide us when we have chosen the right dress. Wearing the right dress gives us confidence, helps our image stand out, and allows us to shine on stage.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Interview rounds can be tricky. What are your strategies for a winning interview? It is very important to smile. A smile creates the first impression. Look beautiful and presentable. Confidence is the greatest key to winning the interview.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Looking back, is there a moment in a competition you wish you could redo? Being a contestant can be tiring and stressful. It is not easy with so many classes—catwalk practice, dance practice, and others. I just wish I did not get tired so easily, but overall, I truly enjoyed the process.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What common mistakes do you see others making in contests? There are many beautiful ladies, each with their own personality. The common mistakes they make are usually punctuality and attitude issues.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Do you have any experience in modelling or acting? I have not participated in any of these activities and have no experience in modelling or acting. I wouldn’t mind trying acting if given the opportunity—it would be a great and interesting experience.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans and goals for the upcoming year as a queen? As I mentioned earlier, I wish to empower and encourage more women to participate in this platform. Most of all, I hope to raise more funds for the needy and less fortunate if given the chance.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Finally, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind? As an ambassador, I will wear my crown with grace and pride to make my country proud, and for my grandchildren to be proud of me.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine would like to say thank you for this wonderful interview.
