World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.
I was born and grew up in Tokyo, Japan. Four years ago, I left my job with an American bank and came to this beautiful country to take up the most important job in the world, where I was given the privilege to spend almost my time with my lovely four years old daughter, Elena.
My favourite words are dream and love. I’m a happy and simple person who is fortunate to be surrounded by lovely family members and good friends. Once I set my goals, I will put in my best to achieve them.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
Believing that women are as valuable and deserving of every opportunity in the world, and have the abilities to make a difference to the society and the rights to pursue our own dreams, regardless if they are big or small.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
Mrs Singapore Global Universe was my first pageant.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
While we feel very blessed with everything, I started to think how I can give back to the society and spread the love we experienced. Then I chanced upon an opportunity to participate in Mrs Singapore Global Universe. For new comer like myself with little experience in Singapore, it provides me the platform to further integrate with the society, meet like minded people and positively influence others to spread our love, especially to the less fortunate ones.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
I wanted to inspire other women to believe in ourselves and pursue our dreams to make a difference.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
Mrs Singapore Global Universe is organised by Lumiere international founder, Ms. Justina Quek. Lumiere international organises a variety of pageants to lead women to empower and inspire others. Most importantly, they also raise awareness of charity activities that can benefit the less privileged groups.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
Besides personality, beauty and self confidence, we were also judged on our talent performance, Catwalk and poise on stage, and the Q&A session.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
While the program can be quite intense especially for people like myself who has not participated in a pageant before, it was also very enriching as we experienced many things within a short time frame. It allows me to broaden my horizon beyond my family and friends, and also helps me to have better self awareness. Somehow, I wasn’t nervous but was enjoying every segment on stage during the grand final. This is because I had put my heart and mind into it so I will have no regret regardless of the outcome.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
I want to be a champion for children from less privileged family. I truly believe that it is important for us to work together to show the society has not forgotten them. I sincerely hope that we can spread our love to more children especially those who are in need so that they can also have better childhood memories. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
I don’t have much opportunity yet as the lockdown started soon after the grand finale. However, I’ve made a video on Facebook and Instagram to raise awareness for people to “stay home, stay safe and stay healthy” with my title.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
Besides crowded as Mrs Singapore Global Universe, I am a proud mother who is able to fully participate in my daughter’s growing up journey.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
I believe everyone is beautiful and everyone is unique. For me, from the start of the pageant, I have the courage to dream to be a queen and also have a heart to love others.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
It was an unforgettable moment in my life especially seeing the joys from my loved ones and friends. It marked the beginning of a new journey. It also gave me a sense of responsibility and pride given I will be representing Singapore in 2021 Mrs Global Universe.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
Being a Beauty Queen is not just about physical beauty or appearance. It is also important for us to have the courage and heart to do what is right, and posses intelligence and self confidence in whatever we do.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
It made me realized that having self confidence is very important if we want do to well in anything we do. And Of course, it has to be together with efforts. It also got me to know more about myself, in term of my strengths and weaknesses, and it has broadened my circle of friends as I met many like- minded people during the pageant.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image?
After giving birth to my daughter Elena, I am pleasantly surprised to receive the great compliments on how elegant I looked with those beautiful evening gowns. It proves that woman can be a mother and look gorgeous at the same time.
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
I am humbled to be able to inspire others to believe in ourselves and purse our dreams, to make this a better place for everyone. World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
I kept calm by reminding myself that I had already put my heart and mind into it so I have nothing to regret regardless of the outcome. It helped me to be confident and enjoyed every moment on stage. World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
Once I had decided on my general theme for this competition, I researched for suitable performance for the Talent round and carefully considered my costumes and gowns. As I am not a native English speaker, I had also sought help on my pronunciation in preparation of the Q&A session.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
As I had no modeling or catwalk experience, I researched on internet and practiced by myself at home. I also attended the catwalk lessons arranged by the organiser. A lot practices definitely helped but having the confidence to be yourself is the most important factor.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
You need to be truthful to yourself on your complexion and body shape so that you can have better self awareness when choosing a dress that matches you. For me, I usually choose mermaid style dress with lighter color. For the grand finale, I wore a mermaid style silver dress with a long train. It was so beautiful.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
I think it is important to provide relevant answer with confident and clearly. Be straight to the point and avoid repetition.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?
I had enjoyed the competition very much and therefore I want to treasure every moment of it including any of my imperfections. I had presented my genuine self and I am happy with it.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
Everyone put in our best for our loved ones and friends especially during the grand finale. As we had been truthful to ourselves, it does not really matter even if we were not perfect.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?
Not at all. So, I’ll need to put in extra effort to further improve on it for the international competition next year.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen?
Once the current situation is normalized, I will like to continue the charity or volunteer work that I had involved before the competition. I hope to inspire more women to step forward and make a difference, making this a better place for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, every woman should be shining on her own stage. World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
While I am an ordinary woman, I want to be the woman everyone proud of. I want to be someone who is able to inspire others to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, and make a difference in their lives. It does not matter if the dreams are big or small. If everyone is willing to step forward to make this a better place for everyone, all of us will be better off.
