World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us more about yourself. Am Catherine Wanjiru 24 years of age born and raised Laikipia county since our is divided into 47 counties in Kenya. I'm a student at Kenyatta University pursuing human resource management. Was born in the family of two being the last born. Am an orphan who believe that no matter how hard life turns to be i will always fight for the best life ever. I believe everything happens for a reason and I had to work hard to ensure that my dreams comes true. World Class Beauty Queens: What does women empowerment mean to you? It's the essence of educating women on different values and activities in the society to enable them to be a role model to the future generations. Empowering woman is like empowering the whole society since men are the backbone of successful family or society. They help to improve the standards of their community hence giving people hope for the future. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us your pageant history. The journey into modeling started one year ago 2018 though it something that was in me since childhood though no one who understand what it was. But I used to hear that in out family line my two aunt were super models back in 80's. When I joined university it give me an exposure and that where I commenced. I have participated in more than 10 pageant so far with 5 tittles. This is an evidence of my confidence, optimism and persistence. It has not been an easy journey but am always unstoppable when it's come to chasing my dreams. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant. I believe in every journey one want to partake must have the adequate and a convincing reason why want to follow this direction and not the other. My inspiration is I felt it's a call for service to humanity and my desires to create my own world and be a ambassador for the change in our country and the whole world at large. My role model is Katriona Gray the current Miss Universe world. We have something in common, we are dreamers, optimist and dreams chaser. World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete your current title My reason for choosing to participate in my current tittle (Little Miss Earth Kenya) is that I needed to change the perception of people about our surroundings and environment conservation. It has been a success since I have able to initiate project on tree planting and creating awareness on less use of plastics. The other reason was to be a voice to the voiceless through this I have be able to initiate a project for 'keep a child warm' through this we were able to dress the children from less fortunate family. And conducting motivational speech assuring them that no matter the situation they are in they will still make it if they believe they can. World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about. My pageant system it's about the nature and the environment. I am an ambassador for the environment in my country ensuring the right conservation methods are carried out and less water, soil and water pollution. I collaborate with the cabinet secretary for the environment to ensure that we minimize the use of the environmental pollutants and encourage people to use biodegradable product. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. My experience during competition was absolutely incredible because am always a learner and open minded. Through interaction with other models I learned on new techniques on the runways. I believe we are not perfect and I believe you can learn from others on how to improve your performance on the runway. And through competition I created network with other models. World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on the competition. There are several things that you are judge on the runway: Your personality Walk and poses - you must have have a perfect walk and poses should be on point Stage presence Smile and attitude Intelligence since it's a beauty with brain Creativity Uniqueness Confidence World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about platform or what cause do you volunteer for? My platform is environment and humanity oriented. My main objective is to create awareness about the environment and educating people the importance of tree planting in the country since the trees attract rain and through this we can be able to fight drought since it will help our our economy through agriculture since it's the backbone of our Kenya economy. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearance have you done with your title? Through this tittle I have made my appearance in the prisons. I love showing love to those behind bars dinning with them and talk freely with them and share the little I get from well wishers. Since I believe we as a human we are prone to sin and no one is perfect. My main a objective is for my fellow young generation is to emulate me. In secondary and primary schools. Conductive motivation talk to those students and leadership programs to motivate them and prepare them in future leadership roles since I believe they are our future and they are the next in line. World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements. In a span of less than an year I had made various achievements just stating a few. On Feb14th valentine day and April 4th we were able to visit lang'ata maximum and nyahururu mens prison in which we interacted and spend our time, and also cooked and dine we them. This was as a sign of showing love to those behind bars. I have a successful tree planting project which was held on 1st June. We agree able to plant over a thousand seedlings. On 10th July I have a initiative on keeping a child warm. We were able to cloth the innocent children from less fortunate family. World Class Beauty Queens: What is your stage strategy to win the judges over. Elegancy in my walk, poses and turns Giving the best smile ever My stage appearance I make sure every judge notices me and the audience too Eloquent when answering my question and giving the best answers My confidence is always on point World Class Beauty Queens: Whats make you stand out from other contestant? What makes me stand out is that first of all Is understanding my strength in the runways. Second is always ensuring all well conversant with the field or the pageant system by doing thorough research. Creativity beyond expectations. I ensures I will the heart of all the judges by my presentation. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us the moment your name was called our as the winner. First of all I was so surprised, I didn't believe it, tears of joys started rolling down my cheeks and it's stop couldn't imagine am the new queen. It was the best feeling I have ever thought. I thought it was a a dream. Then boom the reality hits me. World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to be a beauty queen? A beauty queen is a person with a winning personality and uniqueness who win or participate in beauty contest. World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageant helped in your life? Competing in various contest help me to be able to interact with other models and shared our mind and heart and this really helped me since I was undergoing some psychological problems and this helped me out of the situation. World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing helped in your self-esteem and body image? My victory made me feel am truly of a great value and that was a clear evidence of what I truly believe in. That how you see your self is how others will see you. I Saw myself superior and a Victor and that was what actually happened a victory. Sometimes even people see good thing in me even if I can't see it. World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to other girls how does it feel? It's the best thing ever being someone's role model, since am able to inspire and motivate them to emulate my personalities and follow my footsteps. And that they must be fighters. Fights never quit no matter how the situation turns to be. They never give up. So inspire then to keep on chasing their dream. And that if I made it they can make it too. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk. Modeling being my passion I take every single free time a learning time to perfect my walk and poses. Through YouTube tutorial and sometimes learning from other model since we are have different walks. In every contest I take it as a completing and also learning too by checking the strength of each model and then I equip it in me. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning an interview? Being a human resource student I learned the best tips to win the interview, being courteous, listen and understand the question so that you can have a clear understanding of what the interviewer really wants. Being well informed by doing thorough research on the subject this gives me confidence that is evident by the way I present myself. Maintaining good eye contact with the interviewers. World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? The first and foremost is to ensure that I have all the outfits for every categories and looking for the best and unique that will portray creativity in me. Research on pageant system every detail that may be ask at the end at question and answer session. World Class Beauty Queens: What mistake you have done during the competition you wish you could redo and fix it. Its will sound funny ugh. One of my fellow contest took my heels and I looked for them with no success. So I had to borrow a friend her heel of which am not used to, I didn't give the best walk and I was so upset. World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistake are made by girls during the Contest? Lack of confidence, use of plastic smile, lack of stage presence, unfitting outfits. World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience? For the modeling part have almost one year of experience fully in the industry but for the acting it's something I really wish to but I have never acted before. Hopefully soon I will. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2019 as a queen? My pet project is 'give a street kid hope for the future through education. That the project I have been planning and for this I need support from the government and I know it will come to pass. I want to be the hope for those kids in the street.
