World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?

Empowerment to me is freedom and ability for women to be able to live and lead their life the way they want to realize their goals and dreams. It’s not about feminism, or fighting for attention or to prove a point; it’s about women having the rights to have freedom of choices to live their lives, basic human rights.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

In 2017, I joined Mrs Malaysia World and won the subtitle - Mrs Best Personality. I participated in Mrs India Worldwide Malaysia in 2018 and won sub title Mrs Congeniality. In 2019, I am honored to be selected as the Ambassador of Mrs Malaysia International Global 2019.

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

I’m a freelance professional make-up artist for 24 years. I’ve been doing mainly bridal and personal makeovers. In 2016, I started a quest to experience styling in various industry and to build network in the respective industry. I wanted to shift from my comfort zone. As I’m always interested in modelling and pageantry, I decided to give the audition a try and experience the styling and works of a pageant in the backstage as a finalists. I was concern if I will be selected due to my height and weight, I was thrilled to be was selected to be one of the finalists.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

I am honored to selected as the Ambassador. It is an interesting title that I’ve been aiming for. As the MMIG’s ambassador, I represent the organization to be their positive voice and to raise awareness of their platform, vision and mission to public in general and to the participants in particular.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?

Different pageants have different system. MMIG takes pride in ensuring that it’s world class and that each contestants walks away with enriching experiences and friendships. As for the competition, along with traditional costume round, evening wear and showmanship on stage, MMIG/MIG also appreciates and values each contestant’s special, unique and authentic personality and drive to win the titles at stake. The complete journey of the pageant is beyond the grand finals, it aims to build one’s confidence, character and interpersonal skills while learning the importance of community service and charity drive.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?

Two parts to the judgement, part of the evaluation is during the training and events, where the contestants are observed on their appearance, punctuality, communication skills, commitment, accountability and drive. The second part of the evaluation takes place on the grand finals where they are judged on appearance, showmanship, confidence, public speaking skills and costumes.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.

I truly enjoyed the journey and would always cherish the memories and learning. Building new found friendship, learning from other married women and mothers on resilience and determination in balancing the best for their family as well as for themselves is definitely an experience that I’ve learnt only in this competition. It’s totally a different kind of enriching program, one that aims to build you inside out, stronger.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

I’ve got my hands full managing various aspects of my life, which is my full time career in an oil and gas company, my freelance styling business and most of all my commitment to my family of three children, I do not have a separate platform other than leaning on to MMIG’s platform – Be Brave, Stop Bully and their vision. My platform is also to continuously support MMIG’s management & team in reaching out to the contestants in support of their dreams to excel in this pageant.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?

I believed in myself, self-loved and respected me for who I am and what I stand for. Among the many things, I also wanted to inspire young girls especially my two daughters, that we must set new goals and work towards achieving them, its not about the winning, its about the trying. Never to give up on small dreams that is converted into goals and to work in realizing them at any stage of our lives. So with this in mind, I walked with pride and confidence showcasing my best version.

World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?

I believe its my confidence and sincerity.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.

It felt like in the movies, the glam and the spotlight was simply amazing and dreamy.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

Being a beauty queen is beyond skin deep and glamour especially in a Mrs Pageant. It’s not an easy journey for women to juggle career, family and to pursue  a dream all at once. It is a visible and loud platform to every girls and women that we can set our hearts and mind to what we want in life and able to achieve irrelevant of our age.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

It has given me new ideas and avenues in reaching out to women to inspire and motivate. Personally it has helped me to develop and improvise my communication and people skills.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self-esteem and body image?

I’m not a pageant sized woman, I’m only 154cm at height and weigh 66kg. Being able to be given the opportunity to compete as the finalists and to be crowned as the ambassador has enabled me to embrace my insecurities and love myself more. .

Its an honor for me. I’ve looked up to many prominent ladies and have always wanted to be just like them and I hope to inspire many more women out there.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

The first and most important element will be the heels. The fit of the shoe will ensure comfort and will enable one to walk steadily, feel the moment and the music while we walk on the ramp will add grace and natural sway to the walk.

One must embrace their personality, body shapes, skin tone colors in order for the dress to enhance their figure.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?

Be authentic and your true self for beauty shines from within. Hard work and practice is inevitable as preparation and readiness is the key for success

World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?

I allocated at least one hour a day just for pageantry related exercises and work such as catwalk, posing, Q&A, reading up and research on other pageants and their events

World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?

I would rather say as my grounds for learning rather than mistakes and it is more of mental preparation. One has to be mentally ready and psyched up for winning which I feel I could have focused more in that area.

World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?

All the finalists were well prepared and no glaring mistakes. The MMIG team prepared the contestants for months with practices and training to improvise and polish catwalk and posing.
