World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share a bit about who you are? Like, what are your passions outside of the pageant world?

Outside of the pageant world, I’m a wife and mom to two amazing little boys, Alexander and Maxwell, and our household is rounded out by our two cats, Buffy and Cleo, who keep life entertaining with their very big personalities. Professionally, I work as a Cloud and AI Specialist in SLED (state and local government and education) at Microsoft, where I’m passionate about helping organizations modernize, innovate, and make an impact through technology. I’m deeply committed to children’s heart health, which stems from my own journey as a Heart Warrior and my son’s experience as well. Beyond that, I enjoy fashion, community events, and finding ways to give back, whether that’s through advocacy, volunteering, or supporting causes I believe in.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey. What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges?

Education has always been such an important part of my journey. I earned my bachelor’s degree from American University and then went on to complete my master’s degree at Georgetown University. Most recently, I finished my Executive MBA at Quantic School of Business and Technology while balancing work, family, and life with two little ones. Each step came with its own challenges—especially managing graduate school while working full-time and becoming a mom—but those experiences also made me stronger and taught me how to stay focused and adaptable. A real highlight for me has been building lifelong friendships and networks along the way, and proving to myself that I could rise to the challenge no matter what was happening in life.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally?

For me, women’s empowerment is about creating the confidence and opportunities for women to step fully into who they are and what they’re capable of—whether that’s in their career, their community, or their personal life. It’s not just about breaking barriers, but also about lifting one another up and showing that there’s space for all of us to succeed. On a personal level, I think about the example I’m setting for my two sons. I want them to grow up seeing women as strong leaders, nurturers, innovators, and changemakers. Women’s empowerment to me is about voice and visibility—being able to share your story, advocate for what matters, and inspire others to do the same.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially?

It’s actually a pretty unique story! I had just had my second son, Max, and I was still riding that wave of baby hormones. After going through a c-section, I felt this incredible sense of strength—like if I could do that, I could do anything. That’s when the idea of competing in a pageant really sparked for me. At first, it was about pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and proving to myself that I could take on something completely new. But very quickly, it became so much more—it gave me a platform to share my story as a Heart Warrior and heart mom, and to advocate for children’s heart health on a larger stage. It started as a leap of faith, but it’s grown into one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your first pageant? Was there a defining moment?

What really motivated me to participate in my first pageant was the desire to challenge myself and try something completely new. The defining moment came shortly after I had my second son, Max. I was recovering from a c-section, riding the high of baby hormones, and honestly, I felt invincible. I remember thinking, “If I can get through this, I can do anything.” That feeling of strength and resilience inspired me to take the leap into pageantry. It wasn’t just about a crown and sash—it was a microphone. A way to share my story as a Heart Warrior and heart mom, and to use my voice to advocate for children’s heart health. That first pageant showed me that even in moments of exhaustion and vulnerability, we can discover courage and purpose we didn’t know we had.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you?

I chose to compete for the title of Mrs. DC America because of my deep connection to this city. I went to school here, built my career here, married my husband here, and had both of my children here—DC has been the backdrop to so many of the most meaningful moments in my life. There’s just a special feeling this city gives me; it’s inspiring, vibrant, and full of opportunity. Competing for Mrs. DC America felt like a way to honor that connection while also using the platform to make a difference. It’s not just about representing a city—it’s about representing the community I love, raising awareness for children’s heart health, and showing that with purpose and passion, we can all make an impact right where we are.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I'd love to know more about your pageant system. Could you explain what it’s all about?

The Mrs. America pageant system is the oldest and most prestigious national pageant for married women, and it’s really about so much more than crowns and sashes. It provides a platform for women to share their stories, advocate for causes they’re passionate about, and make a real impact in their communities. What I love about the system is how it celebrates the full spectrum of women’s achievements—personal, professional, and philanthropic—while encouraging confidence, leadership, and community involvement. For me, being part of Mrs. America isn’t just about competition; it’s about using the platform to inspire others and show that women can balance family, career, and service with purpose and passion.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant director apart from others?

What sets my pageant director apart is his incredible experience and dedication. He’s been involved in pageants for a long time, so he really understands the ins and outs of the system. Beyond that, he truly gets the value of empowerment and is committed to helping each of his queens succeed. What I find especially impressive is how he connects with us on a personal level—even though he’s a man, he knows how to relate, listen, and provide guidance in a way that’s meaningful and supportive. He’s not just running a pageant; he’s mentoring, encouraging, and lifting up every woman who competes, and that makes all the difference.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key things you're judged on?

In the Mrs. America system, competitions are really about celebrating the whole woman. Judges look at more than just appearance—they consider your personality, your intelligence, and how you carry yourself. It’s about the complete package: confidence, poise, communication, and character. What I love is that it’s not just about looking a certain way or performing on stage—it’s about showing who you are as a person, how you inspire others, and how you use your platform to make an impact. The focus is on well-rounded women who are strong, compassionate, and purpose-driven in all aspects of their lives.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings?

My competition experience has been incredibly rewarding and full of personal growth. One of my most memorable moments was walking on stage in a red swimsuit. It took a level of confidence that I don’t always feel I have, but I had spent so much time not just working on my physical fitness, but also on how I viewed and valued myself. That moment taught me that pageantry is as much about inner strength as it is about outer presentation. It’s about pushing yourself, embracing vulnerability, and showing up as your most confident, authentic self. Every competition reinforces that growth and reminds me how much empowerment comes from within.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant system to others? If so, why?

Absolutely, I would recommend the Mrs. America system to others. The women in this system are so inspiring—I felt so lucky just to be in the same room with them. It’s truly a sisterhood, where everyone lifts each other up and celebrates one another’s accomplishments. I’ve made connections I hope will last a lifetime, and that sense of community and support is something I think every woman should experience.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about?

My advocacy and volunteer work are deeply connected to my personal journey—I’m passionate about children’s heart health. As a Heart Warrior myself and a mom to a son with congenital heart disease, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges these children and their families face. That’s why I work closely with the Children’s Heart Foundation, raising awareness, supporting fundraising efforts, and helping to create resources for families in need. Beyond that, I love finding ways to give back to my community through volunteering and events that inspire and empower others. Using my platform to make a real difference in children’s lives is what drives me and gives purpose to everything I do, both on and off the pageant stage.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in?

With my title as Mrs. DC America, I’ve had the privilege of participating in a wide variety of appearances and activities across the city and beyond. Some highlights include joining Honor Flights from Chicago to support our veterans, attending DC Fashion Week to celebrate creativity and local talent, cheering on the Washington Nationals at baseball games, and being part of DC’s AwesomeCon, which brings together fans of comics, pop culture, and creativity. Each of these experiences has been an opportunity to connect with the community, represent my platform for children’s heart health, and celebrate the vibrant culture of DC in so many different ways.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry?

In pageantry, I’m proud to hold the title of Mrs. DC America, which has given me a platform to advocate for children’s heart health and participate in meaningful community events like Honor Flights, DC Fashion Week, and AwesomeCon. Winning this title was not just a personal achievement, but also an opportunity to inspire others and use my voice for a cause I deeply care about. Outside of pageantry, my greatest achievement is my two boys, Alexander and Maxwell—they are my reason for everything. Everything I do, from my career to my advocacy work, is motivated by the desire to create a strong, loving example for them and to make the world a better place for children like them.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: In such a competitive field, what do you think makes you stand out?

In such a competitive field, I think what makes me stand out is the combination of authenticity, purpose, and resilience. I bring my full self to everything I do—whether it’s as a mom, a professional, or a titleholder—and I’m deeply committed to using my platform to make a real difference, particularly through my advocacy for children’s heart health. I also think my perspective as a Heart Warrior and heart mom gives me a unique voice. I understand firsthand the challenges families face, and I’m passionate about sharing my story to inspire and empower others. Ultimately, it’s my drive to balance family, career, and service with heart and authenticity that I believe sets me apart.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I can only imagine how it feels to win. What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?

When my name was announced as the winner, my first thought was, “Is that my name? Are they sure?” I honestly couldn’t believe it. Leading up to that moment, I had already won the fitness award and best evening gown at my state pageant, so I thought for sure they had made a mistake. But as it sank in, I realized it really was me, and the feeling was just overwhelming—exciting, humbling, and surreal all at once. It was a moment I’ll never forget, and it made all the preparation, hard work, and nerves completely worth it.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a Beauty Queen mean to you?

Honestly, I still don’t always see myself as a beauty queen—sometimes I feel more like a mom running on coffee and low sleep! But being a Beauty Queen is really about so much more than looks. It’s about using your platform to make a difference, sharing your story, and inspiring others. It’s about confidence, resilience, and showing that you can balance purpose, passion, and a little bit of sparkle along the way.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life?

Pageants have had such a profound impact on my life. I always thought of myself as “the smart girl,” but competing gave me a whole new view of myself and helped me build confidence in ways I didn’t always have. They’ve also shown me the strength I didn’t always realize I possessed. Beyond the stage, the experience has pushed me to take risks, embrace challenges, and use my voice to make a difference—whether that’s advocating for children’s heart health or inspiring others to pursue their own goals.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants influenced your self-esteem and body image?

Pageants have completely shifted the way I see myself and my body. Growing up, I had a scar on my chest from heart surgery at age two, and later I had a c-section and a body that’s been through pregnancy—not exactly what the “perfect” pageant image might suggest. Competing has given me a newfound respect for my body. It isn’t perfect, but it’s mine, and it tells the story of my resilience, strength, and everything I’ve overcome. Pageants have helped me celebrate that, embrace my uniqueness, and feel confident in my own skin.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You’re an inspiration to many. How does that feel, and what message do you want to share with others?

It’s truly humbling to hear that I’m an inspiration to others. I hope my story shows that strength and resilience can come from even the most unexpected places. Whether it’s overcoming health challenges as a Heart Warrior, navigating pregnancy and motherhood, stepping outside your comfort zone in pageantry, or being a woman in tech, I want people to know that you are capable of more than you think. My message is simple: embrace your journey, believe in yourself, and use your voice and experiences to make a positive impact—because your story can inspire others in ways you may never even realize.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your strategy for captivating the judges on stage?

My strategy for captivating the judges on stage is all about authenticity and confidence. I focus on being fully present in the moment, letting my personality shine, and showing them who I really am—my passions, my story, and my purpose. I’ve learned that confidence isn’t just about posture or a smile; it’s about owning your journey, embracing your strengths, and being genuine. When judges see that you’re comfortable in your own skin and speaking from the heart, it naturally draws them in.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you prepare for competitions? Any specific routines or practices?

Preparing for competitions is both a physical and mental process for me. Physically, I focus on staying active, eating well, and practicing my stage presence, from walking in heels to perfecting my poise and presentation. I also dedicate time to rehearsing my interview answers and refining how I communicate my story and platform. Mentally, I work on building confidence and a positive mindset—reminding myself of my strengths, my journey, and why I’m on that stage in the first place. For me, preparation isn’t just about looking or performing well; it’s about feeling strong, grounded, and authentic so I can show up as my best self.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Got any tips for nailing the perfect pageant walk?

My biggest tip for nailing the perfect pageant walk is simple: practice, practice, practice. It really does take time to get comfortable and confident on stage. Wear the clothes you’ll be competing in while you practice, and for swimsuit, don’t just rehearse in heels—walk around in your own swimsuit so you get used to how it feels and moves. The more familiar you are with your outfit and your steps, the more natural and confident your walk will look.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Choosing the right pageant dress can be crucial. What are your tips for making the best choice?

When it comes to choosing the right pageant dress, I like to work with a designer from my state—in my case, DC—so I could represent my home even more. For me, it was important to choose a dress that felt personal, one that highlighted my scar and told a part of my story. But beyond all of that, the most important thing is how it makes you feel. On stage, I wanted a dress that made me feel unstoppable, and when I wore it, I felt like I could take over the world. Confidence in your dress is everything.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Interview rounds can be tricky. What are your strategies for a winning interview?

My strategy for a winning interview is simple: be yourself. Authenticity matters more than anything else. I make sure to practice my answers ahead of time so I’m prepared, but I also focus on being engaging—smiling, showing emotion, and really connecting with the judges. No one wants a boring, rehearsed answer. I try to leave them wanting more, sharing my story and passion in a way that’s genuine, confident, and memorable.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Looking back, is there a moment in a competition you wish you could redo?

Honestly, no—I don’t feel like there’s anything I would redo. I knew I gave it my all in every aspect of the competition, from my walk to my interview to my overall presentation. Even if things weren’t perfect, I feel proud of the effort, growth, and authenticity I brought to the stage.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What common mistakes do you see others making in contests?

Since this was actually the only pageant I’ve ever done, I can’t speak from tons of experience, but one thing I noticed is that fakeness or over-rehearsed answers can really stand out—and not just to the judges, but to the other contestants too. Pageantry is a sisterhood, and authenticity is what helps you connect with everyone. Trying to be something you’re not usually doesn’t come across well, so my advice would be to focus on being genuine and letting your personality shine.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Do you have any experience in modeling or acting?

Nope, not one bit! Although… does acting like a superhero with my kids count? Because I’ve definitely mastered that role! Pageantry was actually my first experience stepping into this world, and everything I’ve learned about walking on stage, presenting myself, and speaking in front of people has been completely new—and incredibly rewarding.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans or goals for the upcoming year as a Queen?

My plans for the upcoming year as a Queen are all about making the most of this incredible platform. I want to attend more events, spend more time connecting with the people in my community, and amplify my advocacy for children’s heart health. I hope to use this crown as much as I can to make a positive impact and inspire others along the way.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Finally, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind?

Ultimately, the legacy I hope to leave behind is one of purpose, positivity, and inspiration. I want to be remembered as someone who used her platform to make a difference, especially in advocating for children’s heart health, and as someone who lifted others up along the way. I also hope to let my crown shine just like my personality—bright, bold, and authentic—so that people remember not just the title, but the energy and heart I brought to it.
