World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
Our platform is “Beauty with a mission”. It’s so much more than just another pageant. It’s uniqueness is in creating a positive impact, while celebrating women of all backgrounds and diversities. We go beyond hairstyles, make-ups and manicures. Our pageant is about self-discovery through coaching, yoga, fitness, questioning yourself in todays’ world and how to be a better person for everyone you know.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us what inspired you to start or join your system?
From humble beginnings in the Philippines and a followed by a difficult life in New Zealand for decades, I took a stand for myself in 2017 to prove to myself that “I was better than this”. I changed the way I was living, joined fitness classes and when I felt I was ready, joined the New Zealand pageant.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Please tell us the founding story of the system.
The New Zealand platform was founded on the basis to empower women of all diversities. In particular, those with children who are married, separated or divorced and who feel their live was over. The platform gave these women a voice, renewed self-confidence and the will and power to make a difference.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What was the vision and the goal in the beginning while creating your pageant.
Throughout my experience and growth on the New Zealand platform, I felt an inner desire to do more than just being a voice myself. When the opportunity arose to take the helm of becoming the new Director of the NZ platform, I took it on with all that I am. I then expanded the vision of empowering women, to work through transformations, step into a new realm of living and celebrate all that you can be as a matured woman. My goal therefore is to reach as many women as possible and create the magic of self-discovery and the empowerment and self-loving.
Our platform allows women to develop their confidence, leadership skills & public speaking abilities, while also advocating for causes they are passionate about.
The Mrs NZ organisation emphasises that, being beautiful, is more than just physical appearance. It's about recognising women’s strengths, resilience and accomplishments from all walks of life.
It is further an opportunity for women to connect, support each other and make a positive impact. Not just in our local communities, but to expand into the world where possible.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Please tell us about yourself.
Originally from the Philippines, I was born in extreme poverty. By the age of 19 to an English man. My married life was challenging in assisting my husband with a room-based accommodation business, while raising three children (two girls and a boy). Accumulating events brought me finally to a point of “No More” in 2017. This changed my life and I have not looked back ever since.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Please tell us about your education.
Although my only education was Secondary high school, followed by a vocational hairdressing course, in 2017 I took on a computer science course, as well as becoming a qualified fitness trainer. Having now taken over the batten as Director, I recently completed successfully a business course as well.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does women Empowerment mean to you?
Creating a high confidence in one-self, speaking more out, having a greater voice in the world they envisage for themselves & step into a realm of the great unknow to grow and prosper to become the greatest person they can be.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your personal pageant history.
In 2017 represent NZ in the Philippines as Mrs Tourism international. In 2021 I won the title World Madam NZ ’21-’22. In 2023 I competed in Palm Springs California, USA on the global stage, where I represented NZ as Mrs Globe NZ Classique 2023. I became a top-ten finalist and I felt privileged to be chosen as “Contestant of the year”.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
It inspired me to help others and transform their lives. It also helped me to find purpose in my life and goals to achieve.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us what was special about each year’s competition. (Location, sponsors, audience, contestants and why)
In 2017, the competition was about setting myself free and find recognition in who I am as a person. In 2021 on the Global stage, I found many peers with similar visions and goals, which clarified for me my purpose in life. When I was offered to take the helm as National Director in 2024, I saw my vision changing in to reality.
In 2024, I brought a highly qualified team together to create an incredible show. This was only possible with people who are like-minded. The result was a two-hour show, full of high-class entertainment, excitement, a 5-star dinner, celebrity-appearances and a world-class judging panel. This evening was described as the best in the industry. I was proud to have lead these amazing people.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What cultural significance has your pageant?
Although the restriction is for women between 25 to 65, it can not be more diverse in all other areas. Race, colour, ethnicity, age, experience or educational background are all included. Our pageant is different in the way we share, cry, laugh & grow into the new “me”. We look for personal transformation, growth in self-confidence, while becoming the best person one can be.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How long hours/days is the competition.
Our competition starts approximately in March of each year with a formal intake. In June, we start a twelve-week training camp, twice a week until the final night in October.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Are contestants taken on any sightseeing during the competition?
We have usual outings, which either include community work or promoting charities of our common annual choice, which in 2024 was raising funds for Ovarian Cancer research, where we raised a historic high amount of well over $10,000.
In addition, our platform organizes fun-events to create bonding between the contestants, such as pajama parties, dance events and games nights.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are the competitors being judged on during the competition?
They are judged on Poise elegance, confidence, performance, positive attitude and positive intention.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you select your judges and who are they?
Our selection of judges in 2024 were either former winning international pageants themselves, or were celebrities or were high-ranking entrepreneurs. We even had judges who have their own successful international pageant competitions.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What kind of experience can contestants expect during the competition?
Obviously and for improving self-confidence, all women are assisted in their choice of clothing, runway training, make-up and manicuring.
However, their true transformation is through life-coaches, organising events and public speaking events. All candidates are recognised in one way or another as all are winners.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Do contestants have to support and volunteer for any cause or charity either before the competition or during their reign?
All contestants are required to organise events around their personal charities and raise funds, which helps with their leadership skills, organisation skills, as well as speaking functions.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Does the system have sponsors?
During the first year of being a national director, I chose the importance of quality over quantity. As a result, I financed the whole competition myself without financial sponsorship. It has been a well-deserved experience. However, this year (2025) we aim to include significant endorsements to at least break-even.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Please tell us little bit about each winner from over the years and what they accomplished through out their reign.
We are proud that our current Mrs Globe NZ winner has competed in Shenzhen, China in April this year and became Third runner-up. In addition to two more crowns in the events before the finale, she won the “Woman of Worth” crown in the finale.
We are so proud of her transformation and achievement. In addition, the winner of Mrs Tourism Queen International NZ 2025 will compete later this month in Thailand, and the winner of Mrs. NZ Asia International 2024-2025 will compete in Thailand this coming November. We keep our fingers crossed for another great outcome.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are some fun events you've done with your Queens?
We had some great fun with the pajama party. There we created some awesome games with all visitors and competitors involved. In addition, we gathered on multiple occasions to celebrate growth. Another successful event was a dance party.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans for your system in 2025 and beyond?
If we were to get financial sponsorship, we would expand in more community work. We also want to exceed our goals for charity.
In the organization of events, we will endeavor to out-do ourselves and make the show on the final night even better. We are currently assembling a great team of experts and preparations are well underway.
What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind as the owner.
My organization strives to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all women, regardless of their background or experiences.
Inspiring future generations by providing a platform for women to shine. Mrs NZ Ltd inspires future generations to embrace their potential and make a difference in the world.
The pageant serves as a model for women to pursue their dreams advocate for causes, they care about and contribute to their communities. This legacy of inspiration and empowerment will continue to resonate for years to come.
