World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey. What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges? My education consisted of only High School.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally? Women's Empowerment means to me:
Self worth
Empowered women have a strong sense of their own value and capabilities.
They have the freedom and resources to make their own choices and influence decisions affecting their lives and communities.
They can control their own lives and be a great influencer. We are in control of our own destiny. I think it's important to also be a mentor to other women and young youth of today.
You can achieve anything, never wonder "what if"
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially? I got in my first pageant at the age of 40. I have watched pageants on television as a little girl and always dreamed of having my name called someday. I did start late, but it was worth the wait. What sparked my interest was the platform aspect. I wanted something I could do to give back. I had a story and a mission to do. I wanted to make sure the children of Make A Wish were noticed and educate everyone on what we do.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you?
Why I chose this pageant. Woman of Achievement has a very strong sisterhood. They have a platform and recognize so many women of all ages and sizes. There is a home for everyone. The mission of Woman of Achievement is to recognize and develop women leaders in their communities. They host two signature events for women: The International Woman of Achievement Leadership weekend inviting women from cultures worldwide to present women's issues, perform/speak while meeting and networking with other outstanding women. The second event, our U.S. National event is a 3 day leadership pageant weekend where women can present their platform work, interview and compete.
I have been blessed to have won both of these titles.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key things you're judged on? Competition areas: We are judged on Personal interview, Platform interview, Fun Fitness, Evening gown, talent or speech and on stage question. Key things are how you present yourself, how do you speak, are you passionate about your platform, do you live and breathe it? I am a singer so talent was for me. I am able to express my voice and perform in front of many people during the competition.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings?
Competition experience for me has been wonderful. I love to showcase who I am and what my mission is. I find that the women are there to help you no matter what. We all are hoping to win, but it's more than a crown. I have made so many new friendships for a lifetime. I also like to bring extra attire, jewelry, etc to make sure if any woman needs something, I am there for her.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant system to others? If so, why? Yes, Woman of Achievement is a great pageant to recommend. Sisterhood is so big here. It's a place for all women to share their stories and accomplishments. Everyone is so nice and friendly.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about?
My work with Make A Wish is so important to me. Did you know we grant a wish every 33 seconds? As a Wish Grantor here in Arizona I will make sure every child gets their with, it gives them strength, hope, and joy. We fulfill wishes for children age 2 1/2-18 with critical illnesses. Our first wish was in 1980 and we are going strong still. I love to see the children's faces light up when their wish has been granted. I wrote a children's book back in 2006 to read to the libraries and elementary schools. I was so inspired from all the children I have met over the years. It's been 19 years since I wrote and read that back, those children are grown now and I hope I planted the seed so they are giving back to others today. I still currently read my book everywhere I can.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in?
I have been super busy with appearances. The day after I won my title I hit the ground running. I have done speaking engagements, read my children's book, donating to needy families, made appearances at several live events, honored many at the Assisted Living/Memory care facility. The list goes on and on. I am very active.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry?
Achievements: Volunteer of the year for Make A Wish back in 2005. Lead singer of several bands. Was very successful in flipping houses. I also created my own wedding line that I sold all over the Country. Writing my children's book. Being a loving grandma to two beautiful girls. Was nominated for several volunteer platforms.

In competition, I Identify your target audience and tailor my message to resonate with their needs and preferences. I can read people very well. I can create a memorable visual that reflects my core values. I deliver exceptional people skills. I am very reliable and accountable and very on time with everything. I embrace my commitment to the pageant on being a dependable leader.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I can only imagine how it feels to win. What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?
Having your name called as the winner is astounding. Takes your breath away. It's a moment you will never forget and know that now I can continue to make a difference and not let anyone down.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a Beauty Queen mean to you?
Beauty Queen means to me: Beauty is defined as self appreciation, love, and confidence. She is kind and loving. She will lift others up. Inner qualities of thoughtfulness, personality, are very important than what is on the outside.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life?
Pageants have been amazing in my life. I have gained even more confidence, made my speaking skills even better. Many doors have opened with my titles.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants influenced your self-esteem and body image?
Pageants have influenced my life to stay healthy and active. Wellness is important to me. Self image is important as it raises your self esteem to a new level.

I am an inspiration to others, many tell me that all the time. I am proud of what I have done in my life. I always hope that others can see that it's never too late to achieve your dreams and goals. I always make sure my granddaughters come with me on appearances so they can see how important giving back to others really is.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your strategy for captivating the judges on stage?
Captivating the judges is eye contact all the time. Smiling. They are just as nervous as you are and want the best for you. I am very genuine and true to my word. They can see that in me.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you prepare for competitions? Any specific routines or practices?
I don't really have any specific routines in preparation for competition. I do practice in my pageant attire with shoes to make sure everything blends well together. I go over my bio and make sure I haven't missed anything on what I want to convey.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Got any tips for nailing the perfect pageant walk?
The perfect pageant walk is keep your head high, nice posture, walk to the music. Smile. Don't fling your arms.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Choosing the right pageant dress can be crucial. What are your tips for making the best choice? Choosing the right pageant gown is crucial. Try several of them on, make sure it's comfortable and you are feeling beautiful in it. Pick the color that is best for you. The gown does not have to break the bank at all. Look for gowns that are easy to move in, fit well, and make you feel your best. Consider incorporating elements like subtle bling or textures to enhance your stage presence. Choose a gown that highlights your best features and body type.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Interview rounds can be tricky. What are your strategies for a winning interview?
I have won interview several times. Being authentic is key. Genuine. Eye contact is so important and make sure you listen carefully to the judges and answer the question. In my eyes, it's a conversation with friends.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Looking back, is there a moment in a competition you wish you could redo?
A moment in competition I would re do is on stage question I did many years ago. I went over the time, it cost me the pageant. I see it now that it was just not my turn yet. God always has a plan.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What common mistakes do you see others making in contests?
Common mistakes I see are wrong wardrobe, not prepared, getting in their own head. Just stay focused on yourself and be you.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans or goals for the upcoming year as a Queen?
My plans for my year is to continue with as many appearances as I can. There are more opportunities out there and I will find them.
