World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.
My name is Jana-Maria Kuusiku and I am a mother to wonderful 6 years old daughter. I live in Pärnu, the summer capital city of Estonia. I work as a pre-school teacher in kindergarten. I love my job very much because every day at work is filled with positive emotions.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
It means that woman can be independent and make wise decisions on her own. You are not controlled or owned by anyone.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
The decision and idea to take part of the Missis Estonia 2019 beauty competition came to me at work when children were sleeping at lunch. I saw an application on the Internet and filled it up. Couple of days later I got an answer that I was selected for the competition. I had never competed before in any beauty contest so it felt really amazing that I got that kind of opportunity.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
I felt that it was a perfect opportunity for me to make my dream come true.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
I wanted to prove to myself that it is possible to do something else besides being a mother or a simple kindergarten teacher. You can do everything if You believe in yourself.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
It is a perfect opportunity for woman who have children to stand out from the others and become recognized as an individual. You can show to the world who You are.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
Summer Dress Costume, Swimsuit, Sportswear, Talent Show Performance, Evening Gown and Interview.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
It was a chance to learn something new for myself. I got so many positive emotions and skills that I can use in the future.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
Every year in co-operation with our parents and teachers we organize a charity concert and different workshops in the kindergarten where I work. The money that we collect is going for pre-school children educational welfare.
World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
I have been a model for different fashion shows, one of them was Tallinn Fashion Week 2019. I have done workshops for my colleagues to inspire them believing in their inner beauty.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
I am very proud to have 2 higher educations/degrees in English Philology and Pre-School Education. Also as I am a beginner in tennis it was a surprise to me that I got a third place in pair play competition this summer. Every autumn I take part of Pärnu Two-Bridge 10 km rund and finish it with a medal.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
I think what made me stand out was my personality, fighting spirit and vision. I am very self-confident and bold woman. If I decide to achieve something , I will work on it and try to do my best to have it, not giving up.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
It was a big surprise for me because I knew that there were a lot of strong girls who could also win the contest. I was so proud of myself because I had my daughter at the final show and I saw how happy she was for me, those emotions were unforgettable.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
It is a huge responsibility because I did not expect that a simple kindergarten teacher could have that kind of title. I want to inspire other simple moms and young girls around my country that there is nothing to be afraid of. I came, saw and won!
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
It changed my life in many ways: I started to value my inner beauty more than ever, it made me realize that I am a better version of me than I was before, I have a new chapter in my life: I am engaged and soon getting married.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image?
My selfesteem is much more higher than it used to be. I always this kind of mind in my head that others are better than me but I proved to myself that this kind of thinking was wrong.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
It feels wonderful to be a role model for somebody but it requires a lot of work on yourself to cherish that inspiration that you have.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
Just be who you are, smile, stay focused, do not show that you are nervous. Show the judges that there is nothing impossible for you to overcome.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
Already at home I started to work at my catwalk and thought how to make better poses for photos. Of course I spend quality time with my family and friends, paid attention to my eating habits and fitness workout.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
Move your hips, hold elegantly your arms and do not forget to smile. Walk confidently and strike a pose, everybody is watching at you!
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
For me it has always been important that my eyes match the colour of the dress. You must wear the dress that fits your body and looks elegant on you.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
Feel free and relaxed, do not use too much words when you speak, smile, do not fast with your answers. This is your time to shine!
World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?
Although I performed well with my song in the talent show and amazed the judges with my singing skills, I still think that I should have picked another song to sing. If I had a second chance, I would definitely do that.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
It would have to be not performing well enough or show your emotions during the contest if something went wrong.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?
I have acted in two movies that are popular in Estonia:Â Revenge Office and Rat Trap. Also I have been a model at different fashion shows.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen?
I would like to take part of beauty competition again and see the world what it has to offer for me. Also I would like to take part of different charity projects and do some campaigns connected with pre-school children educational welfare.Â
World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
I think it is a belief that fortune smiles on every person and that hard work and confidence in your own abilities can make wonders. I want my children to be proud of me when they grow up.Â
