Current Status: Single, Medical Scheduling Specialist.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share a bit about who you are? Like, what are your passions outside of the pageant world?
Yes! I have a great passion for community involvement. Which is why I took the liberty of creating my very own small business called ‘Themed Markets’ where I get to support other small business owners in providing them a means to showcase their products/items to the community and get to host different causes such as: Breast Cancer Awareness or Suicide Prevention. I also love the performing arts and take pride in performing through musical theatre, which is a way to showcase a variety of different story telling through dancing and acting, a beautiful scene on stage. Although I have much involvement with people and performances, I am a very shy person! But community events have helped me grow my interaction skills which I am happy for!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey. What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges?
One of my passions has always been working in the medical field which is not an easy study to pass through. The medical profession is a very competitive field so one of my challenges was making sure I get enough study in and retain every detail to enhance my knowledge and skills and make sure I reach my goals I’d set before me 1 by 1 to get to the position I am in now. I had to go through phases within 4 years of different medical studies in order to graduate with just the right certification I wanted and I am proud to say I succeeded and overcame my challenges.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally?
Women empowerment to me means industriousness and persistence. Without the history that has been set from previous empowerment that women portrayed, we as women wouldn’t be where we are right now. I am happy that persistence is still being used to fight for what’s right in the women community. We as women definitely deserve to serve as a great imitator for motivation and growth within the world and no better way to show it than with women empowerment.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially?
Initially I was into modeling because I love everything about fashion, whether you’re wearing something funky, plain, mixed matched, there’s always an artful way of showing off fashion. As mentioned before, I am such a shy person and saw that one of my local community directors was hosting a pageant and I thought it was the perfect time to push myself and join it. Now I am happy to say that I am part of a really supportive collective group of sister queens that will always be there for me no matter how shy I may feel.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your first pageant? Was there a defining moment?
Besides my shyness, I also suffer from severe anxiety which has been a stopping block for me for quite some time. I didn’t want to let anxiety be my definition or stop me from making memorable moments or leave me with the “what could have been.” So I pushed myself to join a pageant as one of the ways to help me overcome my anxiety. A defining moment for me was when I finished my first pageant ever. It showed me just how much control I have of my mind and fears and it showed me that if I can do this, I can do much more that I set my mind to!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you?
My current title is Miss Hidalgo County Ambassador which I think falls in so perfectly with my passions. Being an ambassador for my county means sharing community events and lending a helping hand any chance available throughout the community. This title fits perfectly with what I try my best to do on a daily basis with my own goals and stood out to me the most for those reasons, so I’m glad I was able to run for it and take the opportunity to hold this title.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I'd love to know more about your pageant system. Could you explain what it’s all about?
Diamond Dynasty is a supportive platform that upholds: compassion, community appreciation, community engagement, authenticity, support systems, and advocates for a variety of local and global causes. More than that, it’s a platform made to empower both men and women to develop leadership skills and individual and group growth. We lead with excitement and enthusiasm which you can find in every king or queen.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant director apart from others?
My director, Yvette Garcia, is one of the most understanding, compassionate, caring, fun and outgoing directors that I’ve ever met. I think those characteristics are most important in a director because it shows that she takes the time to not just lead us, but to be a part of the group as well, and really listen to our ideas and makes them come true. That alone is something that separates her from any other directors work I’ve seen and I am very proud of her.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key things you're judged on?
Some of the key things I’m judged on are: Did I match the outfit theme best, am I smiling and showing grace when I present myself, my walk, my interviews, and my reasons on why I’m competing. At times it can be nerve wracking, but once I get out on the competition floor, it’s like home to me.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings?
This is my first year competing in pageants but I have already learned so many skills that I am able to use in real world scenarios such as: leadership, public speaking, public presence, and enthusiasm. At first I was so nervous and scared but once I shared a stage side by side with my sister queens, I felt as if I’ve known them all along and have had the privilege to make new friendships along the way. We’ve had gatherings, and parties together and all the plannings, getting makeup and hair done together, and conversations we make have been the most memorable for me.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant system to others? If so, why?
Immediate YES! As someone with little experience and fear of the unknown, I would highly recommend my pageant system to others because they too can be aware that they will be able to join with ease and support no matter what experience they may have. At the end of the day, you’ll leave each competition or event with new skills or something you didn’t know before.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about?
The cause that I’m most passionate about is ‘Breast Cancer Awareness.’ Any chance I get, I try to advocate my best for it. It breaks my heart to know that there are many women out in the world that are fighting for their lives right now to kick their breast cancer out. This cause just like others, deserves much advocacy and celebration for all the ones that have succeeded in beating cancer and needs much support for the ones that are still facing their challenge. I have taken part in many yearly events where I get to volunteer in showing my support for these ones and it makes me happy to work along side such powerful women that are no longer battling their fights.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in?
With my title, I have been able to appear in a few community events this past year and am happy to say that I will be attending many more activities and events this coming year such as our yearly community parade and events for Autism Awareness along with donation activities and many more planned for the year!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry?
Starting with pageantry, being able to hold my Ambassador title is already a huge achievement for me because I never thought I had the motivation in me to put myself out there and try. Outside of pageantry, I have been able to achieve nomination awards from theatre, graduation certificates from work, and plaques from being part of an orchestra, another skill outside of pageantry that I have.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: In such a competitive field, what do you think makes you stand out?
What makes me stand out I think is that I’m not in the field for the glamour and awards, I’m in it to face my fears and and show competitors and judges that although I am not naturally confident as others, I can break through and show you a completely different person who seems sure and confident of herself and I think that’s a great characteristic to show especially to young ones so they know that they too can face their fears no matter how big or small. Working with people in the community also makes me stand out because I really take the time to listen and help out with anything that I could do.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I can only imagine how it feels to win. What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?
Well since this was my first ever pageant, I was just thinking how proud I was of myself and how happy and shocked my family would be to hear that I won as they did not know I decided to run for my title. I was also already trying to think of what could be the first cause that I can use my winning for and all the responsibility that came with it. All in all, I was ecstatic and tried my best to remain calm and poise.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a Beauty Queen mean to you?
To me, it’s more than just beauty and a crown. It means care, gracefulness, kindness, sharing and leadership. It comes with individuality and group work and it means setting the example for others at all times.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life?
Pageants have really made me step out of my comfort zone more than I ever imagined. It’s taken me to places I would have never been to had it not been for them. They’ve helped me learn more about people, what goes on in the community and given me a spark to do more.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants influenced your self-esteem and body image?
They definitely have boosted my self-esteem for the better and helped me be a little more confident in my own skin. I’ve always been a bit insecure of certain imperfections my skin has had and being in a pageant pushed me to show off those imperfections with what I wear. I thought I would be made fun of or looked at a certain way but in reality, no one said anything and even looked at me normally like if nothing was ever wrong with me. That made me feel so welcomed and proud to be perfectly imperfect.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You’re an inspiration to many. How does that feel, and what message do you want to share with others?
I know when young ones see me wearing my gowns and crown, they immediately think I’m a fairytale princess from films they watch and I think that is so adorable and it makes me feel proud to be their real life princess in a way. It gives me the opportunity to show them that a queen is all about kindness, happiness and giving. That not only gives an inspiration to them but to onlooking adults as well. I want to share that no matter what age you are, you can still be a “princess” or “king” in a sense and support great causes while doing it!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your strategy for captivating the judges on stage?
My strategy for captivating the judges on stage is eye contact and confidence. If my eye contact is not on them, I’m at least keeping their attention with my confidence, so in a way, I’m never losing eye contact with them. It’s all about sass, grace, and confidence!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you prepare for competitions? Any specific routines or practices?
Right before a competition I try to start practicing how I’m going to walk out and what moves I’m going to do. I try to get in the moment and take the opportunity to think of what kind of questions I may be asked and think of how I will present myself. It really helps me prepare my nerves and gives me a head start on what my presentation will look like.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Got any tips for nailing the perfect pageant walk?
Shoulders back, chin up, pretend you’re being held by a thred above your head and one foot in front of the other. Take your time and be confident on each step.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Choosing the right pageant dress can be crucial. What are your tips for making the best choice?
One tip that’d I’d give for choosing the right pageant dress is, make sure there’s some sparkle in it. You can never go wrong with sparkle. Whether it’s sequin, diamonds, tinsel, glitter, it’ll always give a pop with stage lighting.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Interview rounds can be tricky. What are your strategies for a winning interview?
Always be confident in what you’re saying. Think of an interview like if you were talking to a new friend or a potential client. Always have fun with it and don’t stress out, the judges always want to see your authenticity and there’s no wrong answer with that.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Looking back, is there a moment in a competition you wish you could redo?
With all the pageant knowledge I now know, I wish I could go back in time to my very first pageant and redo my interview and walk. I know that I would definitely own my presence and space much more, but there’s a first time for everything and I can’t wait to show off my new skills in my next future pageant!
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What common mistakes do you see others making in contests?
Just like I did in my very first pageant, I see a lot of others letting their nerves get the best of them. Everyone struggles with a certain mistake here and there but the great thing is that we learn from it and do better in the next. Each pageant is always a new learning experience even for the best of us.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Do you have any experience in modeling or acting?
Yes I do. I don’t have enough modeling experience as I would like to but I definitely have lots of acting experience as the performing arts is one of my strong suits. I believe my acting and photography skills have helped me throughout pageants and I like to think I’m acting on stage sometimes just to ease my nerves a bit more.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans or goals for the upcoming year as a Queen?
One of my plans this year is to be more active and engaged with each event that pops up. I want to be able to push through my anxiety and make new experiences this year to add to my story. I want to be able to help someone who might be struggling just as I am. To be seen and heard by someone alike as you is the warmest feeling and my goal is to be someone’s mirror with the motivation on hand for them.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Finally, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind?
I hope to leave a legacy defined by courage, authenticity, and compassion. As a Pageant Queen who has faced and is still facing, yet overcomes anxiety, I want my journey to remind others that strength is not the absence of fear, but the decision to rise despite it. By speaking openly about my challenges I am to create space for confidence that is honest and self-made showing that vulnerability can coexist with grace and leadership. My legacy would be one that empowers others, especially young people to believe in their voices, embrace their imperfections and step boldly into who they are meant to become.
