World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?

Women Empowerment is about educating women and teaching them to believe that they are

beautiful and that they deserve to be honoured regardless of their shape, size and colour or where to come

from.  Encouraging women to be self-reliant, economically independent, have positive self esteem and generate confidence in themselves.  It also refers to increasing and improving social, economic, political and legal strength of the women, to ensure she has equal-rights.  Women Empowerment happens when women come together, when we support each other, when we work to make women stronger and when we break trough taboos to Speak Up.  I love Michele Obama's quote on this - No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

Before I got married, I joined the Ms Malaysia World pageant and succeeded as one of the finalist. It was a good experience for me and when I found out that Mrs Malaysia International Global (MMIG) also held a pageant for married women, I was very excited to join the pageant.  It was a journey of 6 months and a huge perk was the opportunity to make friends, and my immediate access to a large network of “pageant sisters.” They are friendly, outstanding and accomplished women. The pageant journey consists of grooming and catwalk classes that was held by one of the most experience choreographer - Mr Rickyy Wong.  He taught us how to walk, dance, talk and answer questions.

We also had a chance for a charity outreach - contributing gifts, school uniforms and other items to the children who lived at Lembah Subang (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) to prepare them for school the following year.

The organisers Datin Sharon Too and Melissa Seow also contributed to our growth by challenging us to be confident in ourselves as married women and work hard to achieve our goals.  A lot of positive life choices were sparked from this pageant. I now live a much healthier and active lifestyle. I’ve devoted more time to volunteering and community service and bettering myself. My personal development and confidence have grown immensely through this journey. This pageant have done more than just empower me, they’ve given me lifelong friendships, another family. So happy and glad to have made it this far as a married women -  to be a Champion of the Classic Malaysia International World 2019, Champion of the Mrs Malaysia Advocacy Queen and Mrs Supermodel.

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

I was inspired to join my first pageant - Ms Malaysia World as I was currently doing modelling at that time and knew that this was a door way for many more opportunities for my modelling career in future.  Now as a married women and a mom of two girls, I am inspired by what I did before and knew that I wanted to take up the challenge again, to increase my confidence level and self esteem especially now when i have grown older. Pageantry is a doorway for those who want to be on stage, give back, and of course learn more about themselves. I never saw pageantry as a competition, I always looked at it as a learning experience.  Pageantry teaches that you can still gain something just from competing even if you don’t win the crown. These are important life lessons that women learn as pageant contestants and this really helps to increase overall self-esteem.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

I choose to compete in this current title because this tittle is an international world title and the experience that I would gain will definitely be amazing and memorable.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?

This is a platform for married women to find their confidence and express their beauty, talent and success.

Our Mrs Malaysia International Global pageant system consist of auditions, catwalk, grooming, national costume, evening gown and answering questions.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?

During the competition, we were judged on our National Costume, Evening Gown, Presentation skills, Introduction Speech, Catwalk and how we answer questions.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.

It was a good and healthy competition as it taught me that what we learn tends to be more about the journey we embarked together, learning our differences and helping each other. Through these lessons, sportsmanship is practiced, success is celebrated, and there is encouragement offered readily.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

I am happy to volunteer as a Representative and Speaker of the Buddy Not Bully non government organisation.  We go to schools and colleges giving talks to students about anti bullying and creating awareness about bullying and its consequences.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

“Beauty Queens” aren’t what they used to be. We’re more than hair and makeup, our faces, or our bodies. We’re a Voice. A Force. A modern-day group of married women who come from different backgrounds, walks of life and perspectives to empower one another.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

It has helped me to be more confident in myself, it has increased my self esteem, made me work hard to achieve my goals, helped me to inspire my children that they can do and be anything they want to regardless of age and helped me to be more involved in charitable work.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self-esteem and body image?

My self esteem has definitely increased as It has help me to recognise more of my strengths, increase my confidence level and look forward to achieving more goals.

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?

I'm really blessed to be able to inspire girls out there especially my two young daughters.  I know that i am an inspiration for them in many ways, and that when I put my mind in accomplishing something, I can do it.  And that age is just a number.  I look forward to seeing them achieving more goals than me when they grow up.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?

It has to be the right fit, colour should look good on you, it has to compliment your personality and show of your figure.

I plan to continue my advocacy to help create awareness about Anti Bullying to as many school going students as possible. I am currently representing the JCI Buddy Not Bully non-government organisation as a representative and speaker in initiating bullying talks at schools and colleges. I do believe that this platform will enable me to reach out to victims that has been bullied, to confront, prevent and diminish the impact of bullying in the long run with the help of others.

World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

What I would like to leave behind a positive approach to life, I want to inspire people with my many accomplishments and life story. I want them to know that they can accomplish anything they put their mind to do.
