I run a foundation called the HertieCare Foundation which caters for street children and helps in the fight against poor sanitation in Ghana. I believe in hardwork, purposeful planning and maximizing opportunities. I hope to make a difference in my world through pageantry. I love purple and I love cats. World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you? Women empowerment in my opinion is unearthing the power in women to nurture the World into the safe haven it is for humanity. It is a tool that I believe most women need to embrace their full potential. If it is used properly and purposefully, we will be amazed by the results and its effect on society. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history. I started with a national pageant, Miss Galaxy Ghana in 2017 where I emerged the 1st Runner up. And then I did a continental pageant, Miss Pan African Queen International in 2018 and won the 2nd runner up title. I moved on to do Miss Glamour Look International in the Philippines earlier in 2019 and won the Mayor's sportsmanship challenge award. In November 2019, I entered the United Nations pageant as Miss Ghana and won the title as Miss Grand Prix 2019. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? Serving the world with my talent has always been on my heart but I didn't know exactly where to start. Seeing how beauty queens had the opportunity to contribute to society made me convinced that was my path. I just had to get in there. World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? I have been an advocate for the environment since I got into my first pageant. With that being one of the United Nations global goals, I decided to join my current pageant. I knew it was going to give me a broader perspective of how I could contribute to these goals globally. World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? The United Nations Pageant is an international Pageant that brings together ladies and gentlemen of different age brackets and from different parts of the world, to learn, share and contribute to society. It encourages participants to engage in a lot of charity works in their countries. World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition? We have a swimsuit, evening gown, national costume and talent competition that adds up to our scores. We are also judged at an interview round and by our general conducts throughout the competition. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. It was an amazing experience being amongst equally talented contestants with a common goal, to change our world. I learnt different cultures and made good friend that I believe I will keep forever. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. I run a foundation called the HertieCare Foundation. It's primary purpose is to cater for the immediate basic needs of the less privileged in society. It also seeks to empower adolescents in rural communities to become assets to society. I also volunteer with environmental NGOs to fight climate change and protect mother Earth. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title? I have done speaking engagements. I have also performed jury duties at pageant auditions and finales. I have attended fundraisers and launches as well as awards ceremonies. World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements? I have represented my country and won two international titles. I have reached out to a number of street children through my foundation. I have young ladies in society that I mentor directly. I believe I have made my country and continent proud. World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls? I believe pageantry is a call for me be a part of the change i want to see in my world. I always enter pageants with that mindset. That helps me make the most out of every bit of the experience World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner. I felt so fulfilled at that instant. My journey and efforts had been rewarded because I didn't only get to represent my country and continent. I had also put my country on the world map by being announced a winner. I couldn't believe I was bringing one of those breathtaking crowns home! World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? Being a beauty queen is a call to me. It is a call to serve humanity and be a part of change in your world. It is a call to be a source of light and hope to many lives. It is a season in your life where you need to become the best version of yourself by availing yourself to learn, and be humble while doing that. World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life? Pageants have helped me discover myself and my ultimate purpose in life. Pageants have redefined my perspective about life in many respects and have helped me understand people better. World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image? Pageantry made me discover a version of me I never knew existed. I discovered my passion to serve and the joy of being able to serve boosted my confidence. Knowing that I was at the frontline and had people looking up to me made me step up my game in appreciating myself better. World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? Achieving a dream is a beautiful feeling. But being able to impact an additional life through that is overwhelming. I feel so fulfilled in life knowing that I am the reason a lot of girls out there may be persisting in life right now. I feel blessed. World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over? Smiling and enjoying what I do makes me exude confidence. That I believe is a step ahead with winning judges over. World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? I made sure I had all pageant requirements intact. I followed previous years of the pageant to get informed about how the system works. I prayed a lot as well because I knew I could prepare physically, but I couldn't do anything without God. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk? First know yourself and what your body can get comfortable with. Watch catwalk videos from pros in the Pageantry world and pick some tips to add on to what you already know. Keep learning because new poses and walks keep evolving. You get better with constant practice. Be ready to get out of your comfort zone to be the best. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress? Knowing your skin type helps with choosing the appropriate colors that will suit you best. You need to know your body and choose a dress that will make you feel comfortable and beautiful. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview? Be honest, be confident in yourself and what you are saying, smile always and speak from your heart. World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? I would probably say not gathering much information before getting into my first pageant because I didn't think it was a big deal. But I got to learn along the line that preparation made you more confident and aware of what you are in the competition for. I keep learning as I go on. World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? I have realized that most girls go too hard on themselves trying to please others instead of being themselves. They usually end up missing the fun parts of the contest because they are busy playing perfect. Being yourself naturally makes you confident and helps you flow without difficulty. Just be you. World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience? I have been a runway model before pageantry. I have been on a couple of runway shows and have done some editorial photoshoots for some brands. I have featured in a couple of movies as well. I am yet to land that major role. Maybe I will this year. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen? I intend to make the most of my reign this year. I plan on executing my projects on the Sustainable Development Goals with focus on Goal 6; Universal access to Clean Water and Sanitation and Goal 13; Climate Action. I hope to not only work in my country but globally as well. I have collaborations planned out with my sister queens from other countries that I look forward to working on as soon as possible. World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? I want to be remembered for my persistence and dedication to service. I want to be the reason why many young girls out there have no regrets in life because they believed in themselves. I want to be remembered for leaving an indelible mark in the World as a global change agent. Pageant website: www.munp.org
