World Class Designers Magazine would like to welcome amazing designer Willette Battle of Fit2BTied Couture which will showcase during Paris City Fashion Week 2019.

World Class Designers Magazine: Please tell us about your brand. This award-winning creative is the owner/operator of Willette’s Prism Studio #309 located within Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment facility in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Within this studio, there are 5 facets that comprise the “prism” throughout this creative space which are: Fine Art, Fashion Design, Written Word, Purple Village of Tennessee Valley (PVTV), Community Activism/Service. Each and every component is manifested through Willette Battle, the sole proprietor. More details can be found here: http://www.lowemill.net/portfolio-item/willette-battle-mixed-media-studio-309/ . “Fit2BTied Couture” is the entity developed from the prism which allows for this artist to express her sculptural abilities in another form, fashion, expanding her repertoire of materials, application, and design. Fit2BTied Couture is the facet that pushes the concepts of closures, types of material possibilities, and diversity in design aesthetics. The diversity of this apparel is not only in the materials used to construct, but also in the manner and chosen occasions of wear. From dusters, vests, hats, and cuffs, most of her designs are unisex and has a wide range of adjustability to accommodate varying fit. Vibrant color, movement, and texture are iconic features in her work. Never one to shy away from unusual fabric application, this collection is primarily constructed of synthetic hair and neckties. With pieces entitled, “Computer Blue,” made of electric blue synthetic hair and “Secret Garden,” ensemble made of floral neckties, these are sure to excite! World Class Designers Magazine: Please tell us about yourself. Willette Battle is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the oldest of three. She is a wife and a mother of three: Derek Khari, Kiana Louise, and Kai Marshall. In 1992, Willette Battle was the first to earn a dual-degree in Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Art from Albany State University in Georgia. She was recruited by Dr. Lois Mailou Jones and Dr. Tritobia Benjamin to become the first from ASU Art Department to be given a full scholarship to Howard University, in Washington, DC, and to continue her education, earning a Masters of Fine Art with Painting and Electronic Studio emphasis. Willette Battle is a constant headlining designer in fashion shows in the United States of America and a sought-after artist for exhibitions and illustrations. She serves her community in educational and other supportive ventures. This award-winning Creative has been showcased and headlined during New York, Virginia, Atlanta, and Alabama Fashion Weeks. Willette Battle has produced annual shows during Birmingham’s Magic City Classic and was the solo showcased designer and show producer for the 2017 San Diego Women’s Expo. She has been featured in various magazines and has recently been awarded a fashion editorial in the March 2019 issue of the New York magazine PICTON. World Class Designers Magazine: Tell us about your collection we are showcasing. The fashion ensembles to be shown in Paris will primarily be constructed from substrates formed from synthetic hair and neckties. The running inspiration of this collection is the artistry and fashion sensibility of musician and poet, Prince. Many of the pieces have been named after song titles of his work. This effort in design is focused to be adjustable, sexy, and fashion-forward. It’s sexy and complicated, like the individuals who wear them. World Class Designers Magazine: What was your inspiration? I am inspired by that individual, challenged with balancing a natural figure with available fashion, who remains in pursuit of what is unique, forward-thinking, and comfortably stylish. A person goes through different phases from day-to-day, month-to-month, or year-to-year. I would hope something that I design can “adjust” to those changes and bring comfort to a situation that can be stressful, getting dressed! World Class Designers Magazine: Which major fashion shows were you able to showcase your collection? I have showcased during New York and Atlanta Fashion Weeks, headlined during Alabama Fashion Week, and was the producer and solo showcased designer during San Diego Women’s Expo. World Class Designers Magazine: What local, national or international celebrities did you dress? Because each item I design is hand-made by me, my creations have been made-to-order and very limited. I would love to dress all of the “sexy-fierce”: Rihanna, Maxwell, Lady Gaga, and Jill Scott, just to name a few.

World Class Designers Magazine: What made you decide to become a fashion designer? Fashion design found me! I am a curvy, 5 foot 9 inch woman who has always had difficulty finding clothing that was long enough or fitted properly around my frame. I learned early how to modify what I purchased and think “outside the box” about the use of other materials and accessories in order to craft my visual expression of myself. During a community fashion project I was producing, a spark was lit in me to share my philosophy and approach to fashion that I had not seen, but had been living. My first “Fit2BTied” collection, composed totally from neckties, was produced and received with great encouragement. World Class Designers Magazine: What were some obstacles as a young designer that you had to overcome. Because I gravitate towards unusual textures, shapes, and closures, how to adhere multiple components together and still maintain neatness in execution, comfort, and fluidity in motion, became my obstacles. In addition, with some of my collections, overcoming public preconceptions can be challenging. When they see it, then they become believers. World Class Designers Magazine: As an established Designer what are your goals now. Ultimately, I would like to work with fabrics that would have my artwork imprinted upon them, build a selective clientele for my sculptural hand-made artistry, and have an “all-inclusive” factory to develop a public line wherein I can share the process of its development with hopeful designers, artists, and others with interest. World Class Designers Magazine: What can we expect from you in 2019 as a designer? Expect “Sexy Excitement”! Expect a different way of utilizing the assumed. World Class Designers Magazine: What legacy would you like to leave behind? I would like for people to consider expanding the possibilities in the structural designs in fashion and the use of re-purposed, unconventional, components in the new. World Class Designers Magazine: How can clients purchase your designs or contact you?
