I am Amita Yadav born and brought up in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, India. I have been inclined to beauty from childhood. I have been a vivid listener of music. I love to meet people of different walks of life. Married to a Defense Officer, I have travelled to different parts of the country and taken up the responsibility of maintain the household and bringing up the children very early in life. A proud mother of two children. Son is studying in 2 nd year at IIT Roorkee and daughter is studying in Navy Children School Mumbai in class VI. Presently, I am staying at Mumbai.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
Women empowerment means providing equal opportunities to women in all spheres of life. Remove discrimination in all forms. Women should be able to take decision without any fear of backlash from family or society. No separate reservation required for them but equal opportunities provided from house to work places. Talent be respected and rewarded without prejudice. Women should play equal role in building the society and the nation.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
Mrs India Universe pageant by Mr. Tusshar Dhaliwal was held at Pune (Maharashtra) at Orchid Hotel on 26 October 2018. All the participants had come one week before for the grooming and preparations. A total of 52 beautiful women took participated in the event, these included a few of them from abroad (Oman, Dubai, Hongkong etc) also. The pageant was divided into two age categories i.e 21- 35 years and 35-45 years. The participants also took part in various social activities and awareness programmes in Pune during their stay. This pageant is held every year in different cities. Prior to the event, auditions are held in different cities to select the finalist for the Grand Finale Round.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
My childhood love for beauty pageant inspired me to take this call, though a slightly late in life. But I had been contemplating for it for many years. Finally when I moved to Mumbai, I thought I can give my dreams a wing.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
Circumstances lead to the event. Being part of transferable job of my husband, I am presently located in Mumbai, the dream city of Bollywood. Further, education of my son had held me back. Now I had time to pursue my dreams.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
This event is held by Mr Tusshar Dhaliwal and Mrs Archna Tomer. They invite participants to register online for the pageant. Thereafter they conduct audition in different cities and select the desired numbers for the Grand Finale event. Participants are required to pay fees at the time of registration. Prior to the Finale, participants are called at least a week in advance for grooming by professionals and preparation of costumes etc.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
Looks, Confidence, Communication skills, Adaptability, Dressing sense, stage presence and management skills etc
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
It was a great learning experience to be among such talented women from different places and profession. It gave me lot of confidence and pride in looking after myself and projecting my inner beliefs. It was a competition but of different kind. We learned a lot of things from each other. We learned to manage our things and look after our things at our own, there was nobody from the home to carry out any task or to provide any guidance.

World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
Have done photo shoot for F3 and Life Style magazines. This is likely to be published shortly.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
Have been a active member in my defense circle events for ladies, have won accolades and prizes during these events.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
Prepare well for the event, especially the Q&A session, be confident and have faith in your ability. Choose topics as per your strength. Wear dress which is comfortable and suits your personality.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
My confidence, maturity and experience of life.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
It was great feeling. The child in me was born again. It was like getting your first gift.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
Great feeling of accomplish and recognition of hard work. It gives you the confidence and restores faith in your ability.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
This event provided lot of confidence and restored faith in my ability to handle things. It also exposed to various vagaries of outside life and the ability to handle them.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image?
It has had a lot of intangible effect on my body and selfesteem. My approach towards self and life in general has changed. Understanding of people have also changed. Experiences of life always have impact on our attitude and behavior.
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
It’s always a great feeling, but it adds on to the responsibility of being a role model for some. People will now pay more attention to your acts and actions. You will have to lead by example.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
Practice with the type of costumes and footwear you are likely to wear for the event. Practice in a space with mirrors to correct your walk. Also get the video recording done for better understanding. Advice from professionals is always recommended. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
Firstly understand your body. Dresses should add grace and dignity to your personality. Do not choose dresses which are too cumbersome and with which you have not carried out rehearsals or practices.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
Knowledge is power, learn about the topics discussed in pageants in the recent past. Thereafter have clear thoughts and opinion on various issues. You can only be confident if you have understanding of the topic. Show positive attitude and courteous behavior on subjects which may lead to sentimental issues. If given a choice, choose topic as per your strength and on non controversial subjects.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
I started preparation well in time. I carried out selection of dresses and other costumes likely to be used. These were brought from different places. I started reading listening to the news to keep abreast of the events. I did take the help of professional photographer for my preparations. My daughter helped me a lot in my preparations
World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?
I could have been more assertive in my Q&A session. May be some dresses I wore can be improved for fitting and appearance.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
Some of them take the event too seriously and lose focus. Some of them are under prepared for the event and look for shortcuts.
