World Class Beauty Queens Magazine would like to welcome amazing Queen Rowena Ann Hansen Mrs. Universal Diamond 2019 International.

Full name: Rowena Ann Hansen

Title/Year: Mrs. Universal Diamond 2019 International, Mrs. Universal Philippines 2019

Pageant System: International pageant held in Tbilisi, Georgia

Age: 35

Zodiac sign: Libra

Hobbies: I enjoy singing. I use to be a wedding singer. That was my way to overcome my shyness. I had been to more than 120 plus weddings because of this hobby. I made new friends and paid my school fees without the help of my parents through this hobby.

Platform: I initially joined a local pageant in 2017 to assist the Filipino community in raising funds towards the planned community center in Melbourne. We are one of the ethnic groups that do not have a center that Filipinos can utilize. Multiculturalism in Australia and around the world is important and this is a perfect way to introduce my culture and heritage to the Australian society. Australia is my home but I will never forget where I came from which is the Philippines.

After winning the pageant, I used my social media as a platform to unite my community.

Because of this initial platform, I was approached to become a multicultural ambassador of Mental Health Foundation Australia for the Filipino community and I was elected as Public Relations Officer of the Philippine Fiesta of Victoria Incorporated in 2018. I was crowned Mrs. Universal Philippines 2019 and competed in Georgia with a platform of spreading mental health awareness in the international stage.

Years competed: 2019

Countries visited: Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Hongkong, China, Brunei, Malaysia, Australia, Georgia, Qatar, Dubai

Likes: I enjoy singing, reading books, and updating myself with current affairs.

I enjoy hanging out with like-minded people who are on a mission to make changes to improve other peoples lives in our society. I enjoy meeting people from different cultural backgrounds.

Dislikes: Injustice. I avoid drama and gossips. Being around people that puts you down just to elevate themselves is not my type of friendship. Women need to be comfortable with the fact that each individual has a unique trait they can offer.

Status: married

World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.

My name is Rowena. I believe that I had always been a caring person all my life that is why I made a career out of it. I am a mother of 2, a nurse and someone who enjoys and is passionate about helping others. This is where my passion for charity flourished. I grew up in the Philippines and migrated to Australia when I was 17 years old. The first year of adjusting to a foreign country was difficult. I learned to adjust and integrate my culture and Australian culture in my everyday living. I love singing so I joined a local church choir when I was 17. From there, I overcame my shyness and met new friends. I auditioned to sing with a band and sang with them almost every weekend for 4 years. I pursue a career in nursing after volunteering around the community. I have a strong clinical background in acute, critical, intensive and perioperative setting. I currently work as a clinical specialist manager. My passion is to care for the welfare of the elderly society. Although I worked in hospital settings for many years, I had always been passionate with aged care.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

I had never joined any pageant until 2017 for I always thought I was never good looking enough or tall enough to be in it. My friend Lora asked me to join a local pageant in 2017. From then I prepared myself for the international pageant experience. I trained for 3 months on how to walk with heels and do poses. I was already an active member of the community so spreading my purpose was somehow easy.

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

The benefit to my community and what the next generation would get from me joining. I have seen a lot of pageants and the purpose of Philippine fiesta was close to my heart. This lamented my reason for joining a pageant.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

The Philippines is a sash country and it is my honor to represent my birth country in the international stage.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?

Mrs. Universal International is an international pageant based in Europe that accepts applicants around the globe. The mission of the contest is to bear good, beauty, tolerance, find beauty not only in physical parameters but also in the soul, and show the standard qualities of each candidate through morality and their personalities.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?

Judging criteria are based on: National Costume, Evening Gown, Fashion show, Entrance greetings

World Class Beauty Queens: How was your experience during the competition.

The experience was all new to me. Each organization has its own rules. We were ready to have our hair and makeup done by 5 am for a 7 am start and training usually finishes late around 10 pm. I met a lot of women who share the same purpose as me.

I was prepared for the competition however, it didn't feel like I was competing with others. They became my friends. I was very excited to represent the Philippines and this drive kept me going with the pageant. It was an exciting year of my life.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

I am a community leader and my platform is to spread mental health awareness throughout my community. I am an elderly advocate as well as a multicultural ambassador for mental health foundation Australia.

World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?

My platform and purpose to why I joined the pageant and all my gowns created by my own designer mommy Roy Erwin Tizon.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did it feel to hear your name as the winner?

Winning was not my main aim. I was privileged enough to represent the Philippines. I was very pleased to get a title.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

Being a beauty queen is equally an honour and a responsibility. A queen should always have the right mindset, purpose and drive to make a difference in this world. A title will make you famous in one night, but a strong purpose will create you a legacy.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

I learned the art of discipline and to practice grace under pressure. I learned that a lot of situations in life sometimes cannot be changed but I can change how I react to it.

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?

An honour to be seen as a mentor by young and older women who also hope to become a queen.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

Learn from someone who had participated in a pageant before and practice, practice.

Know your sense of style and make sure that you are comfortable with it. If there is a suggestion to change for the better, try. Try different looks and choose what you're comfortable with.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?

Short, sharp and meaningful answers.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?

Some circumstances that may have happened was supposed to happen for a reason. I see mistakes as a learning curve in life. I will not change any actions I had done.

World Class Beauty Queens: Any other mistakes competitors should watch out for while competing?

One thing I see some beauty queens do, they forget that people do keep watch on their social media. They either post something that does not really represent who they really are or post issues that are not supposed to be on social media. Think before you click, share or post.

World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?

I am currently a model for an online jewelry shop.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2019 as a Queen?

Since I was elected as the new president for TheWomensAssociation Inc., platforms and social media promotions are set to launch the organization.

- I will be hosting a few major events before the end of the year.
