I believe in smart work accompanied by passion to achieve the goal I set my heart on. I am compassionate and dedicated, qualities I got from my mother. I have been teaching and grooming UPSC aspirants for five years now and I really enjoy my work. Also, I give personality development sessions, I help people get the confidence so that they can excel in all walks of life. My biggest strength is my brother, Raghav, who is a doctor. I've learnt a very important life skill from my father, that is, nothing is impossible if you set your heart on it and work towards achieving it. I got married in 2020 to the love of my life, Mr Abanish Kumar. He supports me through all my endeavors and makes me happy.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
Women empowerment means having equal rights in decision making whether at all levels, which needs autonomy. Most of the times, women are just too scared to voice their opinions, to take the first step which is why they are left behind. As rightly said by Madonna, “A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That’s why they don’t get what they want.” Women need to find the courage and confidence to be able to choose the life they want to lead.
An empowered women is motivated, driven, compassionate and independent. She motivates other women to achieve their goals as well.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
This is my first Pageant and It was a great experience. Earlier I did ramp shows and photoshoots and I think that did really help me in this pageant as we had ramp walks in different dresses on the grand finale day. This pageant was a very different experience all together, very enriching and inspiring.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
The thought that pageants provide a platform to voice our opinion inspired me to go for this pageant and I want to talk about so many things which are still a stigma in our society. The idea of beauty has changed so much, it's not just about being physically beautiful but about having a good heart and being intellectual as well so that we can give back to the society.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
Because of the reputation Mrs Ankita Saroha and team have built for themselves and because this pageant is one of the most transparent pageants currently happening in Mrs Category. This is a pageant where the focus is not just on being beautiful but being beautiful with a cause that can help the society. The team helped and groomed a lot to get the best out of each contestant so that, winner or not, every contestant when went back was a better person.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
It is a transparent pageant with very compassionate organizers and team. It strengthens women, works towards women empowerment and works on the motto "Be strong, Be confident, Be You". We were trained for two days which included ramp walk practice, photoshoots, grooming sessions. There were different rounds like Introduction, talent, Ramp walk, question answer round based on which everyone was given marks.
Overall it was a very energetic, positive and learning experience with adrenaline rush all the time.
This pageant gives a comprehensive personality development experience. At the end of this beautiful journey, you will be strong enough to chase your dreams, confident enough to address any kind of audience and you will realize how important it is to be your own self to be unique. Also, you will get to meet so many different people and learn about their traditions and finally end up making some life long friends. So, it is a win- win situation.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
Everything that you do during training and the finale day. It included different rounds like Introduction and question answer with judges, Talent, Ramp walk with final question answer round. Not only this, we were closely observed like our behavior, energy, enthusiasm, punctuality, everything had a role in the marking system.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
It was a learning experience. I had a great time with my fellow queens, there was a healthy competition with love, respect and compassion for each other. The organizers especially Ankita Ma’am and Antraa ma’am were very supportive. I made a lot of life long memories. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
I volunteer for women empowerment and so does the platform. The platform helps the ladies to bring out the confidence in themselves so that they can become truly empowered and that's what I would also like to do. I want to help women who think their life has ended after marriage or who think that may be they are not that important, I want to help them realise how a woman can change the thinking of their upcoming generation so that women can have the respect and place they deserve. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
I plan on taking online sessions for personality development, grooming and motivation. Once this pandemic is over, I would love to go for the offline institutes I've been invited to share my experience of the pageant.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
I train people to speak effectively. Many of my students are now officers which is my biggest achievement. Recently I won the title of Mrs India International Queen 2020 2nd runner up and Mrs India best ramp walk. World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
Everyone worked equally hard, I think what set me apart was my confidence while projecting what we were taught and trained for. Also, it is not just about beautiful on the outside but being beautiful on the inside i.e having a kind heart and willing to help others also matters a lot which I certainly try to do.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
It was very overwhelming. It took some time to absorb that feeling and then all of a sudden I was very proud and ecstatic as all of my hard work and dedication was rewarded.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
Being a beauty queen is like being a role model people look up to. Beauty Queen can change the idea of beauty, we can show the world how being beautiful is not just about having a beautiful face and body, it is the confidence and the deeds as well that make us beautiful.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
Competing in this pageant was a very self enlightening experience. I've learnt how to be just me and bring out the best in me. It has taught me that all we need is to take the first step and everything else falls into place itself. Most of the times, we are just scared to take the first step.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self esteem and body image?
Being a part of any pageant itself makes you feel you have that 'X' factor that certainly improves every aspect of your personal issues be it self esteem or body image. I learnt about my strengths and how to further strengthen them as well as my weaknesses and how to further reduce them. It helped me become more poised and confident.
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
It feels amazing and at the same time there is a sense of responsibility as it might effect a lot of girls. But this is what I wanted, a platform where I can voice my opinion and effect lives, So, I am not completely surprised, in fact, I'm looking forward to this new venture.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
Confidence is the best strategy for any stage in life including this pageant. I was ready to learn and accept my mistakes and I made sure I didn't make the same mistake twice during the training which shows I was sincere and that along with the confidence worked for me.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
The most important aspect of any pageant is introduction and ramp walk. I prepared my introduction and practiced several times to get the right introduction. I practiced walking in front of a mirror to make sure I had the right walk, expression and posture. Also, I prepared several questions for the interview round and dance for the talent round.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
Everything needs to look natural! When walking, your back should be straight, core tight, and shoulders back and down – but in a relaxed, not a forced, way. As you walk, your arms should swing slightly and you should keep your hands relaxed. Allow your hips to sway side to side but remember don't overdo it.
Held your head high with a smile on your face and rest will fall in place. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
Choose a dress you feel comfortable with and suits who you are. Don't just go with the fashion trends. Find out the strengths and what you perceive as flaws in your body and wish to hide it and choose a dress accordingly.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
Don't rush in answering a question the moment you hear it. I've seen people answering the question without hearing it and understanding it properly and later regretting their answers. Take a pause after hearing the question and answer confidently and calmly.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?
I could have been more outspoken. I think such platforms are a great opportunity to mix with those around you but I am an introvert person and hence, I didn't gel up much and missed that opportunity.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
I think everyone was at their best, it's all about what you did in that one moment in finale. So, there is luck which you can't control. But what you can do is work hard, be punctual; practice walking, introduction and what you have prepared for talent round well; be sincere and try your best.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?
I've done print shoots and ramp walks earlier. In the pageant, we got to have photography and shoot sessions where we were guided as to how to pose well in front of camera, we were given lessons on expressions as well. I look forward to exploring this territory further more.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen?
To promote our brand Mrs India Queen International. I've seen many women want to participate in pageant but are too scared to do so as they think they won't be able to pull it off. I want to inspire those ladies to come forward and try for it so that they can learn that only taking the first step is difficult and they have got the qualities, all they lack is confidence.
World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
I want to be an inspiration for all those ladies who think life ends after marriage so that they, in turn, can be an inspiration for other ladies and this chain goes on until the time we all are inspired enough to be independent, courageous and confident to approach and achieve the dreams that we though are no more possible due to our fears.
