World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.
I am a Chinese Singaporean with 2 kids, Xavier who is 10 years old and Valencia who is 7 years old. I love to bond with my children during my free time by bringing them out for outdoor activities and movies. I am an out-going, positive person with determination in everything I do. My philosophy is never give up in anything you do in life. Failure is never the end as it is something we look upon for improvement. Whenever I’m given a task, I will put in my best effort to complete no matter what the result is, that’s me!
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
The power of woman as individual to be strong, confident and never give up in any dreams we built in our life.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
I participated in Mrs Chinatown 2019 pageantry and won Mrs Goodwill Ambassadors Award but I felt the urge and determination to do it again and believe I can be one of the woman to inspire and empower woman in the world therefore I participated in Mrs Singapore Global Universe 2020.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
I’m a person who love to try new things and never participate before so I joined Mrs Chinatown 2019 as my first competition. I wanted to continue to inspire woman internationally to be confident and determine in their goals in life, not forgetting to help those less fortunate people therefore I participated in Mrs Singapore Global Universe again.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
I love to inspire woman internationally to believe in themselves that they can succeed in their goals by putting determination and focus in it.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
The competition which I joined was Mrs Singapore Global Universe 2020 and was organised by Justina Quek of Lumiere international who was the founder as well. Justina is a great person who layout charity platform for us to help those less fortunate and needy people. Beside charity, It is also through this platform that we make new friends and enjoying the bonding sessions with all sisters. I would describe this as unforgettable meaningful journey whom all woman should go into at least once in their lifetime.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
We are being judged on personality, talent, cat walk and the way we bring out ourselves as personal branding.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
This journey will empower many woman to be more confident and transparent to our own self. From the activities we do, we will share our love and care to the public and improve ourselves to be a better person.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
Life can be very fragile at times and the only time is positive mindset. I nearly encounter into breast cancer last year with removal of breast lump but lucky that it is not cancer. From then on, I felt that life can be fragile and there are many unfortunate people whom we can help and this is a good platform to help.
World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
With the Covid19 virus currently, we make use of our title to do videos to encourage people to stay hygiene with our hand sanitizer as well as stay safe at home.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
My achievements are awarded as Mrs Singapore Asia Pacific All Nations 2020 as the main title, bringing two lovely children into this world and loving them as much as I could by giving them the best as a mother, finishing marathon in the past with finisher medal.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
To me, everyone is equal. I don’t compete myself with them but I always compete myself with my past. I may have not did well in the past and I will want to try when given a second chance because I always want to keep my determination fire burning so that I can success one day.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
It came as a surprised to me. When I received the award, to be honest, I became nervous and excited, after receiving the award, I felt so happy and proud to my family and friends that I really did it this time round! This is my first winner achievement in my life which I would wish to share with my grand children next time too!
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
Beauty Queen is about maintaining appearance and also have a true good heart in our inner self. We learnt to love all people especially those less fortunate ones and help them as much as we can. We also learnt to inspire woman internationally to achieve their goals in life.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
It helps me in widening my network of friends. Also, it helps me to bring out my true self in me: self confident and determination in everything I do.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image?
I become more confident and know how to maintain my youth. When my friends praise me that I am prettier than before, I felt proud and happy of this as I become the model to both my children.
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
I felt very happy that I can help them to achieve their goals and able to encourage them to do with positive mindset and determination.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
I am my true self on stage. As this is my second time on stage so I am not that nervous and perform to my best. I treat the stage as mine and enjoyed my own performance up there.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
I did many rehearsals at home and attended classes with my daughter for talent round. For gown, I heed Huilin and Justina advise and practice my catwalk with my gown.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
I learned through attending classes and practice a lot at home. Most importantly to have self confidence and believe in myself that I only have one chance on stage so I must impress everyone.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
We choose our gown according to our height and body shape, we must try and see if we can be more outstanding upon wearing it. Most importantly anything which we wear, we must look confident. Colours do play apart as well. So we also choose color depending on our skin tone.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
Be true to yourself. Be confident but not over confident be humble. There is no right or wrong answer but what stand out is how we present with our sincere heart.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?
I truly enjoyed my journey with everyone. To me there is no mistakes but how we overcome each challenge in life and my most memorable moment is I overcome any challenges with others together. We work as a team.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
To me, we work hard and play hard together so mistakes are not important and we helped each other during every challenges.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?
I am a part time actress in Mediacorp, so at times I may do some casting, also I did do casting for school.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen?
Due to the current Covid 19 situation, I could not share my love to help those unfortunate people so hopefully after the circuit breaker, I can do some volunteer work to help again.
World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
I would love people to remember me as a positive queen with determination in everything I do. I believe that with full focus, we can achieve our goal and dream in life, never give up our dreams in life and believe in it that we can achieve it with our best effort.
