World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.
I was born in a very academic family. I have done my schooling and graduation from Patna, India. Coming from a middle class family I have always known the utility of things in an efficient manner. Since my childhood days I was very much inclined towards social work. Later I got married to an incredible person and became beloved wife of Rajesh Kumar (EDO/KCC). I am an abiding and loving mother of a 20 year old beautiful girl and 15 year bubbly boy. With the support and encouragement of my husband and kids today I have taken steps to fulfill my dream and do my bit for the society. I am the General Secretary of Life Again Foundation, Kuwait chapter. I have a clear vision in my mind to work for the people in need and to break all the stereotypes and obstacles to prove a woman can break the glass ceiling.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does women empowerment means to you?
Women empowerment according to me is the liberty to make our own choices and decisions in life. Empowering the womanhood by providing them equal opportunities and also by making them discern about their fundamental rights. I also perceive as not underestimating a woman strength and capabilities as she holds a concrete determination and ability to create wonders.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
I would say participating in Mrs. India contest and winning the title of “Mrs. India Universe Entrepreneur 2018” has proved to be a turning point in my life. It has definitely opened many doors of opportunity for me. I wish to grab all of them and squeeze every bit of learning from it and add beautiful experiences in the book called ‘LIFE’. Also crowning for” Mrs. Universe Arab Asia” as well “Mrs. International style icon” has given me a sense of being self. I am all filled with gratitude for the same.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired to do your first pageant?
I believe that one should keep discovering new opportunities, recognize it on time and squeeze the most of it to add a value and a new meaning to your life. Similarly I recognized it for the first time when I came across the Mrs. India Universe contest. I grabbed it instantly to ensure that I get a platform to build my own individuality in an exceptional way. My family has been my constant source of motivation who kept on boosting me.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
Currently I possess 3 titles which are “Mrs. India Universe Entrepreneur (2018)”, “Mrs. Universe Arab Asia (2019)” and “Mrs. India Universe International style icon (2019)”. I chose to compete for my current title as I believe style is something which reflects your personality and also defines your status quo. I love experimenting new attires ensuring my comfort level to be optimum. One should wear whatever they are comfortable in with a blend of confidence.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
It is a platform which provides several opportunities to participate in fashion shows and speaking engagements to promote a positive change in the society. It helps one build a good amount of confidence, leadership skills, to gain self-esteem, learn team work as well how to support and encourage others. For me it’s a stage which creates the path to build your own identity and celebrate your individuality believing through the fact “Dreams do come true”.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
I feel the judges search for the woman holding beauty with brain. In today’s era inner beauty is also an impediment factor contributing in winning the crown along with the physical attribute. The personality traits, intelligent and emotional quotient, talent, skills, spontaneity and honesty are some of the parameters you are being judged upon.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition?
Well my experience throughout has been surreal a philanthropic one. It has helped me to evolve and pushed me to become the best version of myself and establish my own identity. I feel so overwhelmed to be a part of this journey where I met so many esteemed personalities and some incredibly amazing women as participants who inspire me. It taught me to be hungry for your ambitions and to never stop chasing your dreams and also to be fearless.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
I think nothing in this world can be more beautiful than the art of spreading smiles. People keep aspiring for living the lives of people who are more fortunate than them. But rarely do we give a thought that there are people who are less fortunate than us. So one should learn to give something back to the society. In order to fulfill the belief of “giving back” I am associated with an esteemed NGO. I hold the the position of General Secretary of life again Foundation Kuwait chapter. We assist the people affected from cancer and work towards creating awareness for the same.
World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
I was honored to be invited as the chief guest on the occasion of Republic day in one of the most reputed school in Kuwait. I was overwhelmed by addressing the gatherings there. I also have been provided the opportunity to judge the Beauty Pageant F3 Mrs. India International, 2019 on 7th of July. I am filled with alacrity as I have got the opportunity to judge the sub title winner for Mrs. India Universe, 2019 at Mauritius.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
I am the general secretary of Life Again Foundation Kuwait chapter, founded by the famous south Indian actress Ms. Goutami Tadimalla. I have successfully generated funds by inviting the two incredible personalities of Bollywood Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Dhillon for the events in Kuwait which were organized on behalf of Life Gain Foundation.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
The ability of constantly accepting the challenges and pushing yourself to be calm. Speak to the point being specific and clear. Maintain eye contact with the panelist. Don’t forget to wear the most important accessory that is your confidence. Always remember to build self-belief. You can create wonders and win hearts only if you are honest with yourself.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those beautiful girls?
I think everyone has flaws as no one is born perfect. Recognizing your flaws and accepting it with utmost honesty and secretly working on it to evolve as a better person makes me stand out from all those beautiful girls.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
Well the moment was magical. I was blown away when I heard my name called out and I could only think about my family at that moment. And yes hard work and perseverance always pay off. A hard work done with honesty and in right direction never goes in vain even if you don’t get the desired result but it always open doors of opportunities to illuminate your life.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a beauty queen?
A beauty queen according to me brings you the responsibility of continuously making efforts to bring a positive change in the society through your perspectives, style and persona. I need to set standards to embrace change and more importantly appreciate change to have break all the stereotypes which have shaped our society and have revolved around the womanhood generating hurdles for the women to excel in all the spheres of life.
World Class Beauty Queens: How competing in pageants did helped your life?
It has bridged the gap between a house wife to a working woman. It has brought me positive and enthusiastic engagements, good experiences, has helped me grow and evolve and learn new things. And most importantly assisted me to explore new opportunities and also merging those opportunities with my skills for mirroring the best version of myself.
World Class Beauty Queens: How pageants did help your self-esteem and body image?
Obviously it boosts up my self-esteem, when you receive recognition and appreciation for the work you have done it makes one remind how butterflies feels like. In addition with boosting self-esteem and body image it also motivates you to keep working hard with honesty.
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
It feels great and also loads my shoulder with responsibility to work harder and keep striving forward and leave footprints for others to follow. I vow to inspire them with my drive and passion.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
Follow the process with confidence. Remain optimistic with a straight posture do not panic and enjoy the process with attitude.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
It should be age appropriate not a mismatch. Obviously should look elegant when dressed. According to me one should select the dress which they are comfortable wearing in. Because if you are not comfortable it would be mirrored in your face and drop your confidence level.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
Firstly it is important to be a good listener. I would say talk intellectually and with an objective in mind. Be clear and specific while answering the questions. It’s absolutely ok to be opinionated and you can share opinion without sounding rude. Have an eye contact with the interviewer wearing a smile with confidence blended in it.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
I prepared for the competition by having a crystal clear vision in my mind. By gearing up myself to be confident enough with an objective in my mind to accomplish. I think the only mantra is to work hard immensely, be honest and have a positive approach and build your own perspectives through your real time experiences.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is the one mistake that you have done during competing you wish you could redo and fix?
That one mistake I made initially during the competition is aspiring to be a perfect beauty queen by being flawless like my celebrity idol. Soon I realized there is nothing like being flawless, it’s not realistic. One should aspire confidence, aspire to feeling pretty and happy without needing to look any specific way. I am who I am and your core within you should be irreplaceable.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
The mistake I encountered that girls make during the contest is believing they are flawed and that they have a feeling that they are lacking for looking different from a woman they aspire. They keep comparing themselves with others which is not right. Everyone is special recognize your one special factor and make it a weapon to conquer the world with it.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modelling or acting experience?
No, I do not have any modelling or acting experience.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2019 as a queen?
Currently I am preparing myself to represent India in the global meet Mrs. India Universe in the month of September 2019 in Mauritius.
World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy you want to leave behind?
I want to make efforts in creating a society where the women gets equal opportunities. I wish to be the voice for empowering the womanhood. I wish to inspire all the women who are starting their second innings after their kids get grown up. I want them not to stop dreaming never compromise or settle on your dreams and urge them to be ambitious. There is no shortage of talent in women rather there is shortage of proper platforms to showcase their talent. It’s the right of every women to dream and make efforts in turning the dream into reality building their own identity in the crowd.
