World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?
Woman empowerment is an attempt and initiative to boost the status of women in the society. It is an effort which intends to make women stronger,to make them realise their power, to make them believe that dreams do come true. Woman empowerment also brings encouragement and inspiration to the lives of many women so that they don't give up their ambitions to the adversities easily.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
This is my first pageant. It was my friend who encouraged and introduced me to the beauty pageant. At that time, I just lost someone that I truly loved, feeling aimless and purposeless, she encouraged me to sign up and believed that the beauty pageant could help me focused my energy and helped me to be back on my feet to be confident, motivated and stay positive. And I thought it will be a good experience for me too, so I went for the interview without any expectation. So, that’s how my journey started.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
I am a positive thinker. Although faced with the pain of losing my son, I believe everything happened for a reason. And Life is precious, I don’t want to waste it, I want to do something meaningful in my life.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
I felt it was the right moment, right title and right platform for me. I am mentally and physically prepared for the challenge.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
Our pageant system consist of 6 months comprehensive training. Each contestant required to choose a topic that they are passionate about which correspond with the pageant’s theme and presents it during pre-judge, finally followed by the grand final night.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
I believe I being judged on my personality and how I handled myself. I believe they also look for what I can bring to the table and how I can stand out from the rest of the ladies competing. They looked for confidence and if I have leadership skills to be a role model to others.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
The experience was awesome, being first timer in beauty pageant, I was able to learn a lot and gain valuable life lessons and skills. Throughout the pageant, I am blessed to get to know my other pageant sisters who relentlessly cheered each other on, wished each other luck, and encouraged one another backstage the whole time. It was so enjoyable to be alongside with all these beautiful ladies, and I will always be thankful for the experience as I participated in the pageant.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
My platform is about Inclusion Education for disabled children and create awareness of rare diseases in children. This platform closest to my heart because I had a son with special needs. I want to educate and create awareness that there’s ability beyond disabilities in these children if given the opportunity and proper exposure. I have volunteered in various activities organized by relevant organization involving dealing with special needs children.
World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
I’ve done a a special Mother’s Day video for an Italian Restaurant. Also I have been appointed as an Ambassador for a yoga and fitness center to promote healthy lifestyle.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?
I am proud to say joining this beauty pageant is my biggest achievement. Coming out from my comfort zone and can be confidently stand in front of all the judges and presented the best version of myself thus far is the greatest achievement.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
Preparation is very important in everything, once your are prepared, automatically your confidence level will be boasted and it will transpired in front of the judges. Be yourself and friendly is the key elements to win the judges heart too.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
I believe because of my confident level, my clear voice when delivered my introductory speech, my energetic level and my smile.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
I remember being so surprised and wondering was it real. I was quite in shocked until I heard my supporters calling my name out and when the crown is on my head, I know at that moment I am not dreaming.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
For me beauty queens are the hard working lot, and the title comes with responsibilities. Many people have the misconception thinking that beauty queens just put on make up and walk around looking pretty. No, beauty queens are being confident in who we are, dedicating to making a difference in the platform that we pledged, and have the leadership being the role model to others.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
It truly isn’t all about the competition and winning the crown, it’s about being myself, making the most of this precious experience, and making friendships and memories that I’ll remember for life. No matter how it all ends up, I am proud of myself for putting everything that I’ve learn and had it showcased on the stage and giving it all that I’ve learnt to represent myself and my country.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image?
I used to think I am not good and beautiful enough to enter pageantry. But through the pageantry training, it teaches me how to be confidence, how to look beyond that face value and dig deep into my own talents and skills that I have. Through pageantry, it also taught me how to be poised, the importance of being graceful and elegant on and off the stage leaving a positive body image, displays confidence, and leaves a lasting impression with my audiences.
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
Being able to inspire others through my experience, it’s no longer just about accomplishing whatever goal or purpose that I’ve set out to achieve. I felt honored and accomplished that I able to help other married woman to grow through my story and write their own destiny.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
Watch a lot of videos of others Queen catwalk and practice, practice and practice! Practice makes perfect.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
For me, choosing the correct color and style of the pageant dress that compliment well with my body shape is the key factors. And also I must able to walk with confident and comfortably in my pageant dress.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?
Read the question carefully, answer from your heart instead making up stories. Be yourself and truthful.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?
It’s always good to exercise and eat well before the competition. Practice constantly for all my walk, practice makes perfect. And I also did research on various title holders about what they did to prepare for competition. There are lots of good pageant resources online, it bound to have some excellent pointers for me.
World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?
What I wish to fix is my walk. I wish I could have practice more on my walk. To become a beauty queen, one have to be very familiar with the different walk patterns for different sections of the show. I hope to redo my walk for my evening gown to be more poise and elegant.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
Most girls are doing well in the contest. However, I feel that some girls were lack of preparation in their presentation during the pre-judge round.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?
No, I do not have any prior experience in modeling or acting at all.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2019 as a Queen?
Through the various organization I have connection with, I want to use my title to spread awareness about rare disease and promote inclusive education especially for children with disabilities. As a titleholder, I believe I can use it to my advantage to get my messages out in a bigger and effective way.
World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
What I would like to leave is a positive change on as many people that I can. I want to inspire people with my many accomplishments and life story.
I would like to be remembered as the person to help the special needs communities to achieve greater awareness in the society through inclusive education.
