World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.

I am a nurse/carer based in UK who is able to touch the lives of people from all walks of life . I have developed a strong well founded emotional resilience from the rigorous training I have

gone through during my nursing study. A character required to overcome challenges of my

chosen vocation. Hence, I am able to competently serve the people under my care with

scientific passion. I have engaged myself on different hobbies, various sports, support charity

groups to be able to maintain work-life-balance at this golden age.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?

In my personal opinion, women empowerment means allowing every woman to realize her own capacity and optimize her full potentials. In addition, empowerment also making our own decisions without the influence or coercion of others.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

I started competing way back 2016 with a couple friends. It was just meant to be a friendly

competition among us; and was just actually a way of showing our support to the organizations and its platform. It ended up to be a humbling learning experience for me because it made me realized that it is indeed a competition, hence preparing yourself for it is a must to be taken seriously. I took a proper training and compete a 2 years later for Young European Miss International. I won the title of YEMI classic Beauty, which was a side award in the contest. I currently hold the Miss Beauty UK Classic Woman 2019 Category.

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

As I have mentioned earlier, my first pageant was really just a friendly competition among my friends. We just joined in support to the organizer because we knew that the proceeds will be donated to charity institutions we would like to support as well. Hence I would say that it was the purpose of the organization that really did inspired to join the competition.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

I decided to join the competition because I want to be one of the solid proof that age is just a number. I wanted to showcase my self and my capabilities to show the world that we all can age gracefully and become better version of ourselves with time. In addition, it was my way to support the organization’s cause supporting mental health, wherein I have a brother who suffered from such, although, it was related to drug addiction. Sadly, some people was not able to understood his situation, thus he was murdered in front of my preschooler nephew.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?

Miss Beauty UK (MBUK) is a natural pageant system – accepting beauty of all sorts. Beauty in it's diversity, unbounded by age, color, race, shapes. They focus on charitable works, mental heath and hardship within Wales and the UK and branching out to other countries throughout the entire world. Hence, the system basically welcomes everyone, giving every contender a great opportunity to showcase all their good qualities regardless of age, shapes and forms they are in. Also, greatly taking consideration on the competitor’s charitable and volunteering works done during the competition period.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?

During the grand finals, the judges gave points based on our performances basically on three rounds. The Opening round, Eco wear and the Evening wear. In the opening round, we basically introduced ourselves confidently wearing age appropriate which included their fabric color requirement. In the Eco wear portion, as required, we personally created an outfit for ourselves that was from a recycled clothes or material. We were then required to post on the evidence of the creation privately on facebook, tagging it to the organization’s director. In the evening gown, we were judged based on the appropriateness, individuality and personality. In addition to that, there were also points taken prior the grand finals which was based on our efforts in raising awareness on various issues we were interested in by the articles we shared online; as well as the community and charitable work we actively done during the set period. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.

The competition was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Firstly, it was the first time I have ever won the main title and thinking about my age when I finally had it was mind was so exciting . I honestly just enjoyed the night, was so grateful to the organizer for giving opportunity to everyone including me to be part of the event. I did relish the costume making because it made me realize my creative ability; the community and charity works solidified my conviction and commitment to support mental health and alleviate hardships in the simple way I can. Most importantly, I believed every contestant on the stage deserved to win but I could not really help myself really feeling overjoyed upon hearing my named summoned to the center of the stage for the crowning. I felt it was a life changing experience I ever had.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?

I am not comfortable talking about such in fact its one question I'm stuck all the time. But hey I will name a few from what I believe personally I achieved. Finishing my basic army training in high school with a surprise award “Best in Duty thought it was cool, (honestly though, I don’t even seem to understood that “. I have bachelors degree in nursing and acquired my post graduate in US ICCU Nursing (pediatrics). Other great achievement I consider is me learning to do ballroom dancing and Latin from the best in the industry and reaching silver /ballroom Gold star Latin at 36 y/0, reaching and passing silver on my ice skating lesson ,receiving some beauty related small or side awards like YEMI Classic Beauty until I finally become a full pledge Beauty Pageant Queen by winning a national title with Miss Beauty UK Classic Woman 2019 at 50 y/o. Acquiring my first modelling title Flame International Natural Beauty Model Mature 2019. Most importantly when I finally acquired my full UK driving license after taking multiple attempts.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?

Project natural confidence and made sure that they know I am enjoying the moment and simply having fun.

World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?

I think its just me enjoying the moment being youthful and fabulous at 50, having fun on stage.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner?

It was a great feeling although i wasn't really expecting it. I did maintained my respect to all my competitors. I had my celebratory thoughts after my name was called yes! was very happy indeed finally a Beauty Queen, at 50.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

For me, being a beauty queen is a responsibility to be the lead influencer in advancing awareness of the organization’s cause and objectives. You have to learn how to humbly collaborate with other people to be able to have more opportunities to conduct community and charitable works.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

Joining pageants expand my social horizon each time. It gave me new opportunities to be invited to join various pageants and was able to participate in different fashion charity fashion shows. I met a friend who helped me to get casted in a Filipino movie from whom am very much grateful for. Most importantly, it is thru this pageants where I met new friends who are now giving me unwavering support on this.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self-esteem and body image?

Immensely, I learned to accept my flaws and enhanced them . I am talking about from a girl who used to wear 140 denier tights in a beach at 35 degrees that is long gone , to literally go on stage with no tights at all .Funny and it's not even a joke I mean it !÷+÷÷

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?

It feels really good to hear women at least 10 yrs younger than my age would tell me They would want to be like me or do what I do. It brings the role model in me , I give them my best wishes.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

Keep practicing and keep leaning from the experts.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?

Firstly, you feel comfortable with the dress your wearing and it has to be of your proper fit and appropriate to your body shape. The color should match your personality. But most of all, find a good designer you truly trust.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?

In my opinion, winning interview is just like any conversation we win when we speak ourselves truthfully from our hearts. This with full confidence as you deliver your words, looking to the eyes of the person asking you. In addition, one should also have to properly organize thoughts and always be on topic.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?

Firstly, I organize myself. Make lists of all the things I need and make schedules. Ensure all the things I will need are available then train from the professionals. Then I tell myself to just enjoy the day because being part of the competition is a beautiful experience to fonder and the crown is just the icing.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?

I got involved in a small freak accident resulting me bumping my head. On my way to the stage the organizer didn’t want me to carry on for my personal safety reason because it was a really bad hit. I did was able to convince them that I was fine and did the last part of the competition which is the evening gown. What I learned from it is to always have focus in your every move. Not just on your looks but your safety as well. Every contestant is beautiful enough and have charitable hearts and deeds, but not everyone are safe on the floor they're walking on.

World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?

Based on my experience, I have observed that some girls have a tendency not to follow the pageant rule. A thing that is a bit costly to bear.

World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?

I was casted in Filipino movie that was shot in London (The Maid in London as Mrs Liz

Donaldson). Prior to that, I did theater acting with supporting roles in Aswang 2 as Mrs Josephine Ortigas/club dancer and a small role in Aswang 3 as the Pregnant woman being

attacked by aswangs/ I have joined some fashion Charity shows like the Maniland Glamour, Flame International, Creative Economy through Fashion Show at the House of Lords. The lates one is the London fashion week under the House of Ikons.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2019 as a Queen? I want to continue supporting the organization’s cause and be continuously aligned with their mission. I will also keep on doing community works with them and help in fund raising events.

World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want to be remembered as an inspiration to others, especially for women of my age that we should continuously be self empowered, independent and to never stop reaching for our dreams and aspiration no matter what regardless of our age. Because I believe that things we learn and realize from our daily experiences, including our successes and failures provide us the opportunity to improve ourselves, hence makes a better version of ourselves each day. Most of all, the legacy of balancing beauty and compassion for others.
