World Class Beauty Queens Magazine would like to welcome amazing Queen and our first Cover Girl Jenna Rae Mills Miss Illinois Earth 2016 United States.

World Class Beauty Queens: Hello Jenna, thank you for taking the time to Interview with us. Tell us about your title and Miss Earth Pageant system.

I am a current Miss Illinois, of the Miss Earth United States Pageant. The Miss Earth Organization is one of the top three largest international pageants in the world! We, the title holders, serve as ambassadors to environmental protection campaigns. Personally, I focus on food insecurity and food waste. Living in a large city, I see the ramifications of food waste in our restaurant industry as well as the large amount of those who suffer from food hunger. A large misconception of people is that food hunger only comes from those who are homeless but on the contrary, many middle class, working citizens go home after long hours at the office without much to feed their families. 1 in 8 Americans struggle with food insecurity and the best thing we can do is not waste food. In America, we roughly waste 133 billion pounds of food each year. These two issues go hand in hand and the problem is most definitely reversible but we need to educate our communities of the simple steps to defeat these two prevalent issues.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those readers that are unfamiliar with Miss Earth system tell us what are you being judged on?

As a judge, they are looking for the girl that has that “It Factor” to her. The girl you look forward to seeing out at charity events and is a great presence about her. She must be able to interact with all walks of life and be a polished public speaker. She must be a woman of the Earth and love herself as much as the communities in which she will serve. She must have a passion for environmental issues and set goals for herself to achieve success through education and selfless volunteer work. The different divisions in which all contestants are scored on are: Public Speaking, Private Interview, Swimwear, Fashion Runway, Evening Gown, and if you make it to the top 5, On Stage question.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your interview.

The interview with the judges are behind closed doors and is private. It is the fastest interview as it is ONLY 4 minutes long. That leaves you with around 3 to 4 questions so, no time for long answers or stumbling over yours words. As a titleholder, we all work countless hours practicing our interview skills and over the years this has become something I have become very comfortable and confident with. My interview went fast but very fun. If you get your judges to laugh, that’s a great thing!

World Class Beauty Queens: Which Photographer did you worked with for your Photogenic?

I worked with Georgina Vaughan and her glam squad, makeup by Sarahy de la Rosa and hair by Geovanna Hilton.

World Class Beauty Queens: Another part of the score was multimedia, what advice would you give to future contestants?

Leading up to, during and after, keep up on all your social media! Always give thanks where it is due and try to network with everyone. With that being said, don’t over due it! It’s a place to have people join you on your journey, not a place to show off. I love to interact with my

followers, I think that is important.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us how did you win the Runway?

Mac Duggal was the sponsor for the runway and I was lucky enough to wear this elegant and classy black and white gown with minimal beading. The focus of the dress represented my personality which made me feel like a true princess! I was able to shine on stage because I had the perfect dress as if it was made personally for me. Mac Duggal is a great designer, it’s hard not to stand out in one of his gowns.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did you win evening gown competition.

I wore a gorgeous Mac Duggal white gown with a vintage feel. I felt like Jackie-O and had my hair done with a modern 50’s style low bun. The dress was exquisite in every way. When I am walking on stage, I put in my mind as if I was just announced the new titleholder and that it is my first walk. I go to my happy place in my mind and enjoy the moment. I look at each judge and make sure to give confidence eye contact to show them how much I want the position, as it is the last time they will see you on stage for judging before making big decisions.

World Class Beauty Queens: What was your technique to connect with judges.

Eye contact is huge. It tells the judges, “Hey, look at me!!” A mistake some girls make is not practicing in the wardrobe and heels they will wear for competition. Then the day comes and they look uncomfortable, which is not a good look. Get your walk down, smile, have great eye contact. Don’t rush, this is your moment to shine!

World Class Beauty Queens: What did you do to prepare for the striking pose?

Practice make perfect, as I was stating before. Find a dance studio or a room to practice your walk and get a few opinions from other people to see if they too like the pose and walk. Take advice with a grain of salt and in the end choose for yourself what feels and looks right. Make sure you can do you walk and your posing with AND WITHOUT and mirror. You should hit your pose but take your time so the judges can properly score you then take a good look at you, before you exit the stage.

World Class Beauty Queens: Who did you trust to do your make up and hair?

The only and only, my dear friend and hair and makeup artist I use for everything, Yadira Amador.

World Class Beauty Queens: What did you do to have your self esteem ready for the competition?

I made sure everything I did made me happy and comfortable. I took advice from those around me, became extremely comfortable with my platform and was very organized. I made check lists for myself, went to the gym and did my charity work.

World Class Beauty Queens: We want to hear in your own words how did it feel to hear your name as the winner.

I am so honored and proud to represent the state of Illinois! It was the satisfaction that all your hard work has paid off. Overall, I am thankful for all the help of my friends, family and sponsors! It sincerely takes a village to raise a child and I couldn’t have done it without my village!

World Class Beauty Queens: Hie did it feel when the crown touched your head?

The first time I put my crown on I didn’t want to take it off. It is such a beautiful crown. For those who don’t know what it looks like, it is gold with AB crystals. I love the look of it and I feel like such a true queen in the crown!

World Class Beauty Queens: And finally please tell is about your experience during Miss Earth competition.

I have competed in a few organizations in the pageant world. This by far is the most genuine and true pageant I have ever done. The girls at Miss Earth United States as well as the directors, the stage moms and volunteers work hard at what they do best, serve! Laura Clark, my national director just won the award as the Best Director and she is very deserving; I think the world of her. She puts the contestants first and is so organized with the pageant and how it should highlight us. I loved my experience in Washington DC and wish I could do it all over again.
