World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.

I grew up in a a very small town on a dairy farm with my grandparents who raised me. If I wasn’t at church or at school you could find me in the garden with my grandma or somewhere outside. I spent a lot of my free time playing with our many animals or watching animal planet.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you? To me woman empowerment means being strong and encouraging to other women, to be the best they can be. To me it means building each other up along the way with the ability to become stronger through each difficult situation you may go through.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history. This is my very first pageant, I’m so excited to get on that stage and compete with my sister queens!

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? My best friend Tiffany, who is Junior Miss Minnesota for the POA system. She talked to me about it for months on end, telling me how rewarding it is so I took her advice and I looked into some different pageant systems and organization and found Miss earth. I instantly fell in love with what they do.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?   After consulting with one of the directors for days about what title I should apply for, I decided to try for the South Dakota appointed title. I chose that specific title because it was close to home, and it’s a new challenge for me and beings I’ve never competed before and will be heading to nationals in two weeks I thought a new challenge will nice.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? The Miss Earth organization is all about helping our planet and getting the youth involved in volunteerism among eco friendly things. Most of the queens this year have gone to many schools and spoke to the children about recycling, volunteering and teaching them about their platform. I think with Miss earth organization does Apsley wonderful and I’m so proud to be a part of this organization.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition? During this years competition we are being judged on interview, swimsuit, evening gown, runway and social media.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. As I’ve already said this is my very first pageant. I am super nervous and I’m not 100% positive on what to expect.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. My platform is called “Bee the Change”. My platform is centered around being the change for our planet and wildlife. I’m very passionate about our wildlife which is why I created this platform. Our wildlife is a huge part of our world and without those animals our world wouldn’t be the same. My platform focuses on helping save our endangered animals by creating fundraisers to help fund sanctuaries. I also go to schools and speak to the children about things we can do to protect our wildlife, such as cutting up plastic soda can rings.

World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title? My first appearance was a rely for life walk which I was invited to by Junior Miss Minnesota. I’ve also appeared at an earth day fair in Aberdeen South Dakota, as well as many elementary schools and nursing homes.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements? Some of my biggest achievements are graduating high school as an SGA (student government association) member, winning my first appointed title, my biggest achievement in life is being able to wake up every morning with a smile on my face regardless of the struggles I face in the past.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over? My strategy is to just be myself and have fun, not every day do you get an opportunity to compete in a national competition, so I plan to make the best of it.

World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls? I believe what makes me stand out is all of my tattoos, I’ve noticed that a lot of the queens don’t have a lot of tattoos if any at all. I have a half sleeve that means quite a lot to me. I think tattoos are way to express yourself, and it’s beautiful art.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner. Since I did an appointed title, I didn’t compete for my crown. However, it was still so overwhelming when I got the email that I had won the appointed title. I remember being in tears and calling my best friend to tell her the news, I was so shocked and excited. I simply couldn’t wait to start my reign and make a difference in my town.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? I believe every single girl is a beauty queen, whether they wear a crown or not. Every single women in this world is her own type of beautiful and her own type of queen. To be a beauty queen in my book means you’re confident, strong and brave. You love yourself for who you are and your comfortable in your own skin.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life? Even though I haven’t competed quite yet, this pageant has giving me so much confidence in myself. Every day I wake up I'm so excited to get out into my community and make a difference.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image? I think this pageant has really help me with my confidence, it’s amazing to see all my sister queens just working it all over social media. They are all such an  inspiration to me, watching them be so confident and not blink an eye about it, or doubt that there anything less than beautiful really help me and I’m forever thankful for the confidence this girls have given me.

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? Being an inspiration to people really is rewarding and also overwhelming. I get these messages from parents of the kids who’s school I just spoke at telling me how amazing it is that I’m doing these things. I just adore the parents who go out of there way to tell me that there kid came home and took an interest in recycling or something if that sort.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk? While I’m not pageant pro, I’ve come across some tips that have helped me improve my walk so much. I find the key is to stand up straight as possible and slightly roll your shoulders when you walk, it gives your arms a swaying affect but it’s not too much sway. It’s just the right amount, confidence when you walk is very noticeable so work that walk and own it.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress? Choosing my dress took almost a month and a half, it was so hard to pick a dress that I loved and that looked good on me. I think a big part of choosing a dress is figuring out what colors look best on you. For me dark colors are a no go, I look best in light colors so that’s what I went with. I think finding something that gives you confidence is also a big thing, I tried on so many different types of dresses till I finally realized what looks best on me and makes me feel confident.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview? I’m honestly kind of a shy person when it comes to speaking to new people or groups of people, I find it easiest when your doing interview questions to pretend you’re talking to your best friend. It makes it so much easier.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? To prepare for this competition took a lot of time and work, I drilled myself with interview questions and so did my friends. I constantly worked on my walk 24/7 everywhere I went I was always practicing my walk. Working out was a big thing I did to prepare as well, I made my work out as hard as possible.  I’m excited to hit the stage and see all my hard work paid off.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? Since I’ve never competed I haven’t made any mistakes on stage, I have however made a couple mistakes during my social media live takeover. I was explaining my pageant system and slightly mixed up what we do, to this day I wish I could go back and redo that live.

World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? I think some common mistakes made by girls are made because they get nervous. I’ve seen clips of girls stumbling over their words during interview, just be yourself and picture someone close to you is asking the questions.

World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience? I used to model for small boutiques in my town, when I left for college I put that on hold for a little bit.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2019 as a Queen? My plans for 2019 as a queen are to make as big of a difference as possible. I hope to cut trash in my area down by 3% and to get our recycling up by 5%. I also have a goal of raising $5,000 for various sanctuaries around the country.

World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? I hope to leave behind a legacy that I made a huge difference in my community, and the kids look up to me and that I inspire young kids to go out and help in the community.
