Today, we women play very important roles in society, situations that our grandmothers were prevented from doing. Personally for me, for the empowerment of women for few years, today we have the opportunity and the right to speak and vote, we have the opportunity to make our own decisions, whithout fear of being discriminated against, for the simple fact to be woman. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history. Since I was 6 years old, my dream was o participate in beauty pageants at the national level, however, due to the conditions in which i lived at the time, they allowed me to participate only during my school, in that time i was the Beauty Queen of the school. Years passed and I gave up the dream I had as a child of becoming a beauty queen, I made the decision to get married and the priority was focused solely on my children. The year 2019 arrived and I received the invitation to participate as Mrs in the Beauty Pageant at the departamental level and it is during that participation that I obtain the title of “Mrs San Juan Comalapa”. My dream was blooming again. In the Departamental Beauty Contest I obtained the following recognition: Mrs Punctuality, Mrs Talent and Mrs Comalapa´s (Clothing brand that makes garments with Mayan textiles). After this Departamental Beauty Contest, I had the opportunity to compete in the National Beauty Contest, in which I was able to acquire the following recognition: Mrs Model, Mrs Talent and Second Runner up at the Mrs Guatemala Beauty Queen Contest. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? I was inspired by the desire to fulfill a dream that I had since childhood and that I had left on standby for a long time. Being a mother does not limit you to fulfilling your dreams, moreover, it must be an additional motivation to fulfill what you propose, the support of my children, the support of close people to me and my mother was essential to be able to achieve these acknowledgments My family was a fundamental part during my participation in the contest, they became my ovation, my animators, and my director Donal Bernie was fundamental during the departmental contest, I received advice and feedback from him at all times and he traveled with me throughout the competition World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

The Town that I had the opportunity to represent is a place with a lot of Art and Culture, it is a place of Kaqchiquel Mayan roots, known internationally as "Florence of America”, thanks to the renowned painter Andrés Curruchich and for the lyrics of our National Anthem which in the same was written by a Comalapense, I speak of the teacher Rafael Álvarez Ovalle. I could mention many personalities, who have been part of the history of the Municipality of San Juan Comalapa. Carrying the Queen's ribbon at the National level in a Beauty Queen contest represented a great responsibility and enhancing the town, because I am the first woman to place the Municipality within a Beauty Queen Contest, it was an honor for me to wear the guipil of the Comalapense Clothing as part of my Gala Dress, on the final night of the Contest. During my participation I always carried something that characterized the town. That's why I decided to compete. World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? The Mrs Guatemala Contest invites women of all ethnic groups and departments in Guatemala to participate. The winner of each department has the opportunity to go to the National Queens Event representing her department. In my case, I was elected at the Town Level and I was invited to participate in the National event by Mrs Guatemala´s Organization. World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition? During the competition, they give us classes for Personal Development, Professionalism of each participant, in each stage the development during the development of the contest is rated Aspects such as: way of expressing oneself in public, makeup, hairstyle, companionship, self-knowledge, speaking in front of cameras and other categories are evaluated. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. My experience was very pleasant at the departmental and national level, I had the opportunity to meet and share with great women, all of them very professional, outstanding women in their community. All of us who competed in this beauty pageant were worthy of being representatives of carrying the Title of Mrs. Guatemala. This contest was very helpful for me, as it helped me to determine my courage to help more women, victims of gender violence, so that they can denounce acts of violence against them. We must all understand that violence must and can be eradicated from our society. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. The goal I have is to help women around the world, thanks to the program that I run through Fb Noticias Vr called "Entre Mujeres", which addresses issues that help and empower women. The purpose of the program is that every woman can count on gender equality in everything she undertakes. In addition, I volunteer in the movement called "Movimiento de Mujeres Chixot", a movement that helps to create a network to help women who have been victims of gender violence. During a session I had the opportunity to teach a small course on self defense In addition, I manage another segment that is transmitted through the page "Mrs San Juan Comalapa", where I present the town's projects, supporting the art of painters. The segment is called "Culture and Art from San Juan Comalapa" World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title? Due to the current situation caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, the appearances that I have had have been in a spiritual way in social support, in the programs transmitted by Facebook "Entre Mujeres" and "Cultura y Arte desde San Juan Comalapa" During this time of pandemic, I have participated as a qualifying jury in different beauty pageants that are being held in Guatemala virtually, one of them being the events held by the "Guatemalan Queens" page. World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements? In my personal life, all the goals that I set for myself have been achieved with patience, perseverance, regardless of the obstacles that arise. Becoming a Personal Trainer allowed me to improve the self-esteem of many women by transforming their body through exercise, another goal that has allowed me to feel satisfied is to lead the segment that helps eradicate violence against women in times of confinement and at the same time empower them Being the mother of two children is an achievement for me, because my children have been congratulated and recognized for their education and performance in school. I consider that those of us who become moms do not have a manual on “How to be a mother”, however despite this, I have achieved that both of my children have a clear vision of what they want to be when they reach the age of majority, I am very surprised that my oldest son wants to study robotics and my youngest son wants to be an architect World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls? All women have inner and outer beauty. In my case, being brave and talking about gender violence and the eradication of violence against women, at the moment I don't remember a beauty queen talking about this issue and that highlights me, wanting help many women worldwide. I know that my greatest beauty is inside me, the outside is not even 10% of what I am inside, although my physical features have made me stand out in a particular way for being a Ladino mestizo. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner. It is an inexplicable feeling, all the stages of the contest go through my mind, from my days of practice to the talent show, getting up earlier than usual and having everything ready at home to be able to go to the event meetings. My heart was filled with happiness when I received the title of "Mrs San Juan Comalapa", in addition to that, I received a letter from the mayor of the municipality, this letter gave the support to be able to participate in the national contest. There are no words to describe the moment of the investiture as a representative of my beautiful town of San Juan Comalapa World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? I consider it an important title, something that enhances and something that complements me as a woman, it is a great responsibility and your voice is being heard with more attention for all the people. Personally, it has been a title that gave me courage to be the voice of many women who remain silent, in the context of gender violence. World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life? I became a braver person, I developed more confidence in myself, it helped me become even more human, even lending someone else my shoes to put on. The contest gave me the opportunity to help my community, publicizing the art that is made within the town in a virtual way, taking advantage of the global Covid-19 pandemic. World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image? In short, being able to see myself in front of the mirror made me reconnect with myself, I must mention that years ago I was a victim of domestic violence, however seeing myself in the competition, seeing the physical and emotional difference in myself, helped me to take courage, security , confidence and more respect with myself. The contest helped me to be more aware with my diet and reinforced the fact of maintaining a healthy life accompanied by exercise. World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? I am really happy to be able to inspire more women, I want my testimony to reach women who have lived similar situations as the ones I have lived. Let the woman who is reading this get up, pursue her dreams and not be afraid, there are long and short processes to be able to realize our dreams. The important thing is to be disciplined and in this way reach the goal, no matter how long it takes us to achieve it. Chase your dreams day after day, all women are beautiful inside and out with qualities that make us different from others and that´s why we stand out. World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over? The strategy that has helped me is to enjoy the moment, I like the adrenaline of the catwalk, that is reflected in my smile and in the safety to walk down the catwalk. I´m always authentic, I am sure that being authentic has worked for me to win the affection not only of the judges, also of the public. It is very gratifying to see people who call out your name, who support you without even knowing you, it is an aspect that comforts me World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? I coordinated and organized my personal schedule with the schedule of the people who represented us in the contest, I planned my artistic talent rehearsals with my working hours, I hoped to get out of work to be able to go to my private rehearsals with my Belly Dance teacher María Ester Guzmán The most important thing in my life are my children, at that time I had to have everything ready for them, in addition to that, my university studies and being the director of a modeling academy forced me to be a more disciplined person in everything. I had to organize myself for meetings with my department director of the contest to reinforce strategies in the contest at the national level World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk? I am going to summarize this section in two aspects: 1. Walk very safely 2. Practice with a book on your head facing forward. They are the most important tips for learning to walk on a catwalk. You will feel more confident when walking on it. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress? You must get advice from experts, personally "Comalapa's", the brand that Donald Bernie owns, gave a special value to the gala dress that I used during the final  competition, the combination of the textile originating from San Juan Comalapa transformed into art, gave a closing with a flourish to the final night. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview? This reminds me an interview I conducted, you must be 100% authentic, during that interview I indicated to the qualifying jury that I wanted to implement an initiative, the initiative was to publicize the eradication of violence against women, regardless of the area from where comes the violence. This initiative was not just words, in fact I practice it daily, within the support network groups for victims of gender violence. World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? No person is perfect, even in a competition you can make unintentional mistakes caused by stress, the only thing I would like to solve if I went back to that day would be to extend my answer a little more and not be so specific on a topic. And I could have said: What a beauty queen needs to represent her country, is first of all, believe in God, believe in herself, love herself, in order to transmit that love she has for herself to the rest. Represent the country through its Mayan origins to the top of the clouds where our national bird flies, making known to the world every tourist, cultural and artistic treasure that we possess. The world must know this multicultural country known as "The country of eternal spring". World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? Many make the mistake of not having an integral beauty, integral beauty requires: good moral values and principles, professionalism and above all, having humility. In addition, you must be very disciplined to achieve the goal that was set at the time of participating in the contest. They should not lose focus, they should be good companions and friends during the contest process, and support each other. World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience? I have experience in modeling since I was 13 years old, during that time there were no social networks, so I do not have files to show how I experienced modeling when I was a child During my adulthood, I stopped modeling when I got married, however I went back to modeling when my children were already of a reasonable age to be able to leave them in the care of my mother, I had the experience of being an extra in TV commercials, it is worth mentioning that in my country, professional modeling training has not yet been fully developed, so I decided to start and form my own modeling academy that I called "Krishanda Models". World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen? My reign is about to end, however that will not be an impediment to continue working from the Facebook page "Mrs San Juan Comalapa" providing my support and publicizing all the activities that take place in the "Land of painters" as it is known the town of San Juan Comalapa In the same way, I will continue to promote the eradication of violence against women, my future goal is to have a foundation that helps more women who are victims of domestic violence. World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? It is an excellent question, thank you very much for asking it. The legacy that I want it to remain at the level of the contest, professional and personal, is that every woman knows that she can fulfill her dreams, regardless of your conditions, if you became a mother, I tell you this, you can resume your dreams and fulfill them. Besides that, that you can support more women, wearing different emblems in order to have a support network among us women. International Director: Gadiel Álvarez y presentador de TV.
